CLIVE OWEN: FIRST LOOK AT GUILLAUME CANET’S BLOOD TIES BY JOSHUA BRUNSTING ON APRIL 15, 2013 AT 8:00 AM (CRITERION)

With the announcement of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival lineup now within days of being announced, some of the year’s bigger arthouse projects are getting prepared to be thrust into the spotlight, the white hot spotlight, that is, that is brought by the iconic festival.

And one of those films comes to us from director Guillaume Canet.

Entitled Blood Ties, the film features a cast that would surely heat up the Croisette this year, featuring Clive Owen, Mila Kunis, Matthaias Schoenaerts and Zoe Saldana, and is itself a remake of a French film known as Les Liens Du Sang. Canet himself starred in the original film, and this remake tells the tale of two brothers, who head back into a world of gangsters the elder knows far too well (he being a convict himself, played by Owen) with the hopes of helping their family

Clive Owen Will Lust For Younger Student In Novel Adaptation Blue Angel 2013-02-09 11:00:58 Author: Nick Venable (CINEMA BLEND)

According to Variety, international sales are going on for Richard Levine’s Blue Angel adapted from Francine Prose’s wicked novel of the same name, which stars Clive Owen in the leading role. Owen’s career has been steady, with the action Killer Elite and the creepy Spanish horror Intruders as two of his more recent efforts. He’ll soon be seen in the brotherly Brooklyn crime drama Blood Ties. None of that sounds anything like what his Blue Angel character is in for.

Owen will play Swenson, a New England college’s creative writing professor brought down by jadedness and dead-end students. Then someone with writing skill joins his class, and she happens to be attractive, tattooed, and everything Swenson needs in his life. And then they develop a completely platonic relationship and go about their separate lives. Or maybe something a little more controversial actually happens.

Clive Owen backs London-Paris ride for peace-building education in Rwanda (AEGIS)

1 June 2012 - Clive Owen – star of ‘Hemingway & Gellhorn’ – took a break from filming ‘Blood Ties’ with Mila Kunis this week to throw his support behind www.riding4charity.org, the first-ever London to Paris fund-raising bike ride for the Aegis Trust, for which he is Ambassador.

The ride is raising funds specifically for Aegis’ peace-building education programme in Rwanda, helping a new generation to learn about the dangers of prejudice and building trust between the children of survivors and perpetrators.

“I’m supporting www.riding4charity.org because Aegis’ peace-building education programme in Rwanda is making a vital, unique contribution to that country’s future,” says Clive. “The World stood by when a million Rwandans were slaughtered in 1994, and the next generation deserve all the help we can give them to ensure history isn’t repeated.

“About half of Rwanda’s people today are too young to remember the genocide for themselves, but I’ve seen for myself the impact of its legacy on the second generation,” says the actor, who visited Rwanda with the Aegis Trust in 2010.

The Black Swan star was the epitome of a glowing newlywed in her cream cheesecloth and lace gown paired with calico espadrilles.

Her look was completed by a daisy bouquet and the same flowers pinned in her brunette hair.

Meanwhile, the groom was positively retro in a three-piece salmon suit paired with a bright blue tie.
Emerging from the church, the on-screen couple looked overjoyed after exchanging vows in their faux wedding.

A giggle Kunis was seen being gallantly escorted to a waiting car by dashing Owen.
The pair play employees working in an auto repair shop in the new movie.

Last week their characters were spotted sharing a steamy kiss for an engagement scene, in which Owen was seen slipping a ring on Mila's finger.

Guillaume Canet's upcoming crime thriller tells the story of two brothers, played by Clive and Billy Crudup, who become involved with an organised crime gang in Brooklyn in the 1970s.

The movie, which comes out next year, also stars Zoe Saldana, James Caan, Lili Taylor, and Canet's real-life wife, Marion Cotllard.
