Watch British Actors Reenact Iconic American Movie Scenes

The British are coming – or as anyone in Hollywood has long known, they've already arrived!

Be it Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley or Eddie Redmayne, there has been a British invasion of American movies – and awards ceremonies – over recent years.

That fact is humorously skewered in a cheeky short film for Vanity Fair by London-born photographer Jason Bell, whose work frequently appears in that magazine. (VF's annual Hollywood issue will be available Feb. 5 in digital editions and on newsstands.)




Bell had the idea to shoot an all-U.K. edition of the magazine's annual Hollywood portfolio (whose 30-page portfolio includes 44 English icons this year) after observing that "this British invasion of Hollywood has gotten so out of hand." The short film is cleverly divided into three parts – in the style of a World War II era newsreel – with the first clip showing the Brits "Preparing for War," the second depicting their "Coming to America" to infiltrate the film industry and the final installment, "Victory is Assured."

Clive Owen - Clive Owen's Childhood Fears Over Terrorist Attacks 18 August 2012 14:02 (contact music)

British actor Clive Owen grew up fearing he'd fall victim to a terrorist attack after seeing horrific news reports of conflict in Northern Ireland.

The Sin City star, who grew up in Coventry, England, became terrified he would be embroiled in an attack by the Irish Republican Army (Ira).

Owen, whose new espionage thriller Shadow Dancer is set in Belfast, Northern Ireland during the height of the Troubles, once lived in the city when he was starring in a local play.

He tells Britain's Independent newspaper, "I grew up with it being part of our lives and every night hearing some report on the news about the Troubles. (It was) rough... It was a war zone.

The Black Swan star was the epitome of a glowing newlywed in her cream cheesecloth and lace gown paired with calico espadrilles.

Her look was completed by a daisy bouquet and the same flowers pinned in her brunette hair. 

Meanwhile, the groom was positively retro in a three-piece salmon suit paired with a bright blue tie.

Emerging from the church, the on-screen couple looked overjoyed after exchanging vows in their faux wedding.

A giggle Kunis was seen being gallantly escorted to a waiting car by dashing Owen.

The pair play employees working in an auto repair shop in the new movie.

Last week their characters were spotted sharing a steamy kiss for an engagement scene, in which Owen was seen slipping a ring on Mila's finger.

Guillaume Canet's upcoming crime thriller tells the story of two brothers, played by Clive and Billy Crudup, who become involved with an organised crime gang in Brooklyn in the 1970s.

The movie, which comes out next year, also stars Zoe Saldana, James Caan, Lili Taylor, and Canet's real-life wife, Marion Cotllard.

Clive Owens to host Laureus World Sports Awards (Inside the Games)

February 5 - Golden Globe and BAFTA Award-winning actor Clive Owen (pictured) is to host the 2012 Laureus World Sports Awards, the international sporting calendar's most premier honours event, in Central Hall, here tomorrow evening, it has been announced.

The 47-year-old from Coventry, who has starred in numerous Hollywood blockbusters including Sin City, Children of Men, Inside Man and King Arthur, takes over the role from American actor Kevin Spacey who successfully hosted the 2009 and 2010 Laureus World Sports Awards, both of which took place at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The glittering event takes place just under six months before the start of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.

A number of sporting icons are set to be attendance.

"I think the Laureus World Sports Awards coming to London is just a fabulous occasion.," said Sebastian Coe, the chairman of London 2012 who is a member of the Laureus Academy.

"Laureus is a global organisation and it is absolutely right that we showcase the work we are doing in as many big cities as we possibly can, but of course having the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in London in the same year makes a fabulous synergy."

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, fresh from his astonishing Australian Open against Rafael Nadal last month, will be favourite for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award.

He faces a shortlist of sprinter Usain Bolt, cyclist Cadel Evans, footballer Lionel Messi, basketball player Dirk Nowitzki and Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel.

Watch the Golden Globes 2012 Live-Streaming Online: A Few Possibilities (Alt Film Guide)

NBC will broadcast the 2012 Golden Globe Awards directly from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 15, 5-8 p.m. (PT)/8-11 p.m.

(ET). Ricky Gervais will once again serve as host (and roaster). Nominees range from Woody Allen to Madonna, from Asghar Farhadi's A Separation to Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin, from Maggie Smith to Amy Poehler. [Golden Globes 2012 winners here tomorrow.]

Among the presenters confirmed for 2012 Golden Globe awards are Antonio Banderas, Jessica Biel, Jimmy Fallon, Salma Hayek, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Brad Pitt, Natalie Portman, and Reese Witherspoon.

Also: Madonna, Channing Tatum, Jane Fonda, Harrison Ford, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, Colin Firth, Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa McCarthy, Clive Owen, and Freida Pinto. (Surprisingly missing from the list of presenters are Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson. The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 star has a new movie coming out soon, The Woman in Black; the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 star has his own movie coming out — at least in the United Kingdom — in a few weeks, Bel Ami.)

Now, how to watch the Golden Globes online? Before going anywhere, the best option is to head to NBC's official Golden Globes' website to find out if NBC will be live-streaming the ceremony online. If I remember it correctly, two or three years ago, the ceremony was live-streamed online. (Last year it was not.)

Else, there are several sites such as UStream, TV.com, and Justin.tv that may offer user-generated streams showing the ceremony. Bear in mind that many of those may be both of dubious legality and poor quality. But don't despair: the Golden Globes will be shown live on TV in dozens of countries. You'll surely have better luck — and a better viewing experience — by checking out your local television schedule and tuning in at the appropriate time.

And here are a couple more ways of watching the Golden Globes 2012 online: the Golden Globes' official Facebook page. Jessica Alba will be blogging the awards show live and there may be clips posted on the site as well. Hulu.com may also offer clips from the ceremony.

Clive Owen Offered Chance To Be A Bastard Again In ‘Oldboy’ (Screen Junkies)

Clive Owen is one of those actors who excels at both slimy bastards and sympathetic heroes. And he did a little bit of both simultaneously in Spike Lee’s Inside Man, so it’s not a huge surprise that he’s reportedly been offered the role of the villain in Lee’s remake of the cult Korean thriller Oldboy. But the remake is supposed to feature new characters and somehow be darker than the original (perhaps the producers mean this literally, as in the movie will be lit by candlelight).

If Owen accepts, he’ll be playing the part of the bad guy who will be butting heads against Josh Brolin. And if you’ve seen the original movie, you probably agree that Owen would make a good fit for the upper-class villain of the piece (the role was first offered to Colin Firth, who turned it down). Another role has also been offered to Mia Wasikowska that was turned down by Rooney Mara. Maybe a good alternative title for the American version of Oldboy could be Sloppy Seconds. (The Playlist)

1. It appears that Tree of Life actress Jessica Chastain will play Diana, Princess of Wales in Caught in Flight, for German director Oliver Hirschbiege.

“The film revolves around a secret affair between the late princess and a heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Kahn, who was said to be the love of her life. Described as a ‘love story between a princess locked in a tower and an ordinary man’.”

The $15 million budgeted film, written by Steven Jeffreys is set to go into pre-production in March 2012.
Hirschbiege directed the well received Downfall before being tempted by Hollywood to direct the ill-judged The Invasion with Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman.
Chastain is having a bumper year having starred in the aforementioned Tree of Life, as well as Take Shelter, The Help and The Debt.

2. Bradley Cooper’s mild flirtation with The Man From U.N.C.L.E. has come to an end. The Wrap is reporting that The Hangover star has declined a Warner Bros. offer to headline the big screen adaptation of the 1960s television series.



The Steven Soderbergh directed film is currently without a cast, with the likes of George Clooney, Matt Damon and Johnny Depp turning down the lead role of Napoleon Solo.
Anybody else get the feeling that this may just fall apart?

3. Mike Binder is set to direct Walden Media’s latest family comedy Familymoon.

According to Variety:

“[Familymoon]tells the story of a perpetual bachelor who marries a single mother of two. In lieu of a typical honeymoon, the newlyweds take her kids with them on a “familymoon”, where they discover that blending a family in paradise is no vacation.”

The film penned by Family Guy writer Dave Collard should start shooting in early 2012, and casting will get underway soon.
While Binder isn’t a household name, he does know how to put together some great “little films”, having directed Indian Summer and The Upside of Anger.

4. Universal Pictures has picked up the screen rights to Dave Barry and Alan Zweibel’s novel Lunatics. The studio hopes that the increasingly busy Steve Carell will star in the film which will be produced by Stuber Pictures and Carell’s Carousel production company.


The film follows “two New Jersey soccer dads whose minor feud escalates to create worldwide consequences, and leave them running for their lives.”

5. Clive Owen is attached to star in Recall, a new action film written by Taxi Driver scribe Paul Schrader and set to be directed by Harold Becker (Mercury Rising).



Variety reports that the film sees an “NSA agent trying to piece together the events of a botched hostage rescue operation. As the agent begins to recall events and unearth the truth, he finds he can trust neither his fellow soldiers nor his own mind.”
Recall is set to star shooting in March with locations set Bulgaria and Washington D.C.

Clive Owens' "Intruders" Gets Picked Up

"Intruders," starring Clive Owen as a father whose home and daughter come under attack from a mysterious demon, has finally found a home of its own.

The film, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo of "28 Weeks Later" fame, has been picked up by Millennium, and will be released April 2012. Here's the synopsis from the press release:

Intruders is a disturbing film in which reality and imagination mingle and overlap. Juan (Izan Corchero) and Mia (Ella Purnell), two children living in different countries, are visited each night by a faceless intruder, a terrifying being who wants to take possession of them.

We shudder to think what's going on in Clive Owen's personal life that for the second year in a row he's starring in a film in which he plays a father trying desperately to protect his teenage daughter. Last year it was "Trust," where his kid was stalked by a online pervert, and now this... Let's hope Clive gets it worked out.

We loved Fresnadillo's "28 Weeks Later," but watching this we can't help but be reminded of "Dream House," the Daniel Craig/Rachel Weisz thriller that recently tanked. This is probably unfair to "Intruders," but hey, life ain't always fair.
