Rosamund Pike attends the World Premiere of 'The World's End'

The stars were out in force in London at the premiere of The World's End on Wednesday night.

And Rosamund Pike dazzled in a white dress as she arrived at the glitzy event and smiled as she posed up a storm outside the cinema in Leicester Square.

The actress wore a simple white dress by Victoria Beckham with some lace-style panels to the front and sides whch left her cleavage on show.

She added a splash of colour to her outfit by wearing a bright pink bra which was visible through the panels and matched the straps of the high-heeled shoes she wore on her feet.

Jennifer Saunders: 'I couldn't afford to have an ounce of cynicism' The Ab Fab star on writing her Spice Girls musical, why she loves playing Edina and the joy of being a granny Interview by Tim Adams (GUARDIAN)

‘I cried at the first full run of the show’: Jennifer Saunders at home with her dog, Olive. Photograph: Perou

Jennifer Saunders's first musical, Viva Forever!, based on the songs of the Spice Girls, opens at the Piccadilly Theatre London W1 on 27 November. Saunders started writing the script in 2010 after being treated, successfully, for breast cancer.

You've written a lot of scripts but a full-scale musical is something different. How is Viva Forever! going?

It's going well I think. I saw a full run of the show yesterday for the first time. I didn't sleep a lot last night: a mixture of excitement and sheer terror. It is much more of a massive thing than anything I've done before, really. And there are large parts of it where I realise I have absolutely nothing to offer at all. Like choreography. Moving people around the stage. All that. I'm used to writing scripts that make frequent use of the words "cut to". But of course you can't do that here. I was hoping I might get away with "lights out" or "curtain down" or something but of course it turns out you can't do that because this actor has to be offstage and in the next scene in different clothes. I'm not good at logistics…

Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli

"It was love at first sight," says Colin of setting eyes on his wife-of-15-years on a film set in Italy back in 1996, calling her "this Italian beauty and smartest woman on the planet." And marrying her the following year in Umbria, the Oscar winner admits it wasn't easy winning over his in-laws, revealing of his job and the fact he came with a son from a previous relationship, "I'd shown up as this very, very dodgy commodity, attached to their darling daughter… I had a mountain to climb to win everyone over."

David and Victoria Beckham

David admits to having had Posh on his radar for a while when she was at the height of her Spice Girls fame. After watching a cat-suited Victoria in the group's Say You'll Be There video, David spilled, "I saw Victoria and I told myself, ‘I'm going to marry that girl.'" Adding, "I think it was both love and lust. Well, it was probably lust." And Victoria reveals of their first meeting, "It was after a soccer match, and all of the players were in the players' lounge. David was sitting in the corner with his family. From the moment I met him, I knew that he wasn't a bloke-y bloke."

Kenneth Branagh, Gary Oldman: British stars prepare for Academy Awards (SCOTSMAN.COM)

By BRIAN FERGUSON Published on Sunday 26 February 2012 00:52

BRITAIN’S Oscar hopefuls were the toast of Los Angeles as they geared up for tonight’s Academy Awards ceremony.

Victoria Beckham joined award contenders Kenneth Branagh and Gary Oldman on the red carpet for a special event at the British consulate to celebrate the UK industry.

Oldman laughed off his chances of an Oscar for his role as George Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, saying he expected to lose out to Jean Dujardin, star of The Artist. But he said he was “thrilled” to be at the awards, describing his first Academy Award nomination as “extremely humbling, gratifying and delightful”. He added: “The Oscars are always something I’ve watched from my sofa.”

Branagh, 51, in the running for best supporting actor for his performance as Sir Laurence Olivier in My Week With Marilyn, is the first person to achieve five different nominations in five categories. He said: “Each time it feels like a once-in-a-lifetime thing, so you value and savour every moment.

The Spice Girls will appear in a West End musical written by Jennifer Saunders (New Now Next)

NEXT: Spice Girls Reuniting?

Make. It. Happen.

Forget the engagements and pregnancies and even the sad, sad separations, this is the biggest news of 2012 so far — the Spice Girls may be reuniting. Break out the platform shoes and Union Jack tops folks.

The ladies of Spice are all currently speaking and working together on the West End musical based on their songs, being written by the hysterical Jennifer Saunders, and rumors have begun flying around that they may reunite for a performance at the London Olympics. Enough to cause a zig-a-zig-ah of excitement we’d say.

None of the five have ever ruled out a reunion and Victoria, who we all KNOW would probably be the least interested, will no doubt be there with hubby David for the opening ceremony so let’s make this happen. Because it’s probably either this or Wham! guys.

Colin Firth, victoria Beckham - British Fashion Awards

Victoria Beckham goes for gothic glamour in a backless gown while angelic Kelly Brook shines in white at British Fashion Awards

She usually manages to upstage every fashion wannabe within her vicinity when she steps out in her own designs.

But tonight Victoria Beckham had to pull out all the stops as she rubbed shoulders with the hottest young fashionistas at the annual British Fashion Awards.

And the 37-year-old star certainly commanded attention as she arrived for the ceremony wearing a gothic black gown.

While Victoria opted for dark and brooding for the British Fashion Awards, model Kelly Brook went for the opposite end of the spectrum in an angelic one-shouldered white dress, which featured a sexy thigh-high split.

The 32-year-old star teamed the dress with a pretty gold belt and a pair of animal-print heels as she posed for photographers.

Meanwhile, mother-of-four Victoria paired her dress with a scraped back bun, and kept her make-up simple with a smoky eye and nude lips.

The simple design featured a high neck, low back and long train, leaving Victoria's shoes hidden from sight.

And there was no sign of any baby weight as Victoria, who gave birth to little Harper in July, posed for photographers at the highly-anticipated event.

It has been a busy few days for the former Spice Girl, who jetted in from Los Angeles yesterday with baby daughter Harper.

But there was no signs of jetlag as Victoria smouldered for the cameras at the event.

Her husband David, meanwhile, is in Jakarta with his football team LA Galaxy where they will be playing an exhibition game on November 30 against an Indonesian all-star team as part of their Asia Tour.

Another WAG showing off her post-baby figure was Abbey Crouch, who wore a form-fitting suede studded dress for the occasion.

Also at the awards, held at London's exclusive Savoy Hotel, were fashion stars including Marc Jacobs and Annie Lennox's daughter Tali, who shone in a pretty gold gown.

Alexa Chung wore a cute silver and white number, while Poppy Delevingne opted for a dramatic paisley-printed number.

Meanwhile, Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth decided to make the event a date night by attending with his wife Livia, who looked stunning in a gorgeous emerald-green silk dress.

The pair, who married in 1997, looked more in love than ever as they posed for photographers at the event.

Firth, who took home the coveted Best Actor prize for his role in last year's hit movie The King's Speech, has spoken frequently about his love for his wife, and credited her support for his success.

Accepting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this year, Firth said at the ceremony: 'When I look down there at that star, it's her name I see.'
