Murder, Sex, Religion, Betrayal: Yep, The Borgias Is Back (QUEERTY)
If you think sex, violence and political machinations left Rome with the fall of the Empire, you haven’t been keeping up with Showtime’s breakout historical drama, The Borgias, which peels back the curtain on one of history’s most famous (and infamous) families.
When the Golden Globe-nominated series wrapped its first season, Rodrigo Borgia (Jeremy Irons) kept the title of Pope Alexander VI with the help of his children, who united to fend off backstabbing noblemen, loutish husbands, scheming Cardinal della Rovere (Colm Feore) and even France’s King Charles VIII (Michel Muller).
