Colin Firth: Kidman - Firth's my screen hubby (INDEPENDENT)

8 MARCH 2013

Nicole Kidman has joked about her "second marriage" to Colin Firth, following their second partnering on screen.

The Australian actress and the Oscar-winning British star play real-life married couple Eric and Patti Lomax in The Railway Man, and have reunited for the filming of psychological thriller Before I Go To Sleep, where they play husband and wife again.

"Colin said we're on our second marriage now, and it's true, but this is a very different marriage than our first," she told the Daily Mail.

"Before I Go To Sleep is a psychological thriller, my favourite genre. I'm making the kind of film I like to watch."

James Purefoy: The Following (trailer)

THE FBI estimates there are currently over 300 active serial killers in the United States. What would happen if these killers had a way of communicating and connecting with each other? What if they were able to work together and form alliances across the country? What if one brilliant psychotic serial killer was able to bring them all together and activate a following? Welcome to “The Following”, the terrifying new thriller from creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the ‘Scream’ franchise). When notorious serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy, “Rome”) escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent Ryan Hardy (Emmy-nominated actor Kevin Bacon, ‘X-Men: First Class’) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature.

SEAN BEAN IS RELISHING NEW FILM ROLE (EXPRESS CO. UK)

By Lizzie Catt with Lisa Higgins and Jack Teague

SEAN BEAN is relishing his new role. The burly Yorkshireman, 52, plays an intelligence agent in terrorist film Cleanskin and says he enjoyed feeling super-macho on set when battling against a suicide bomber called Ash, played by young actor Abhin Galeya.

“It’s good fun, especially having fights with Ash. It’s always good fun to have fights. There’s some good violence in there but there’s no wallowing in gore, it’s more an extension of the characters’ raw emotions.”

And keen to show off his warrior body, heart-throb Sean almost got carried away at the premiere of the film at London’s Mayfair Hotel, asking photographers: “Shall I take my top off?” Rest assured cold towels were provided to ladies in the crowd.

Daniel Radcliffe: The Woman in Black opens very big (Hollywood News)

“Woman In Black” Shatters Box Office Expectations

HollywoodNews.com: Hammer’s chilling ghost story The Woman in Black shattered box office expectations during its three day opening weekend (Fri-Sun) in the US, grossing just over $21m to come in a very close second place.

Hammer, an Exclusive Media company’s, adaptation of Susan Hill’s classic novel, starring Daniel Radcliffe, opened on almost 3000 screens through CBS Films with a per screen average of approximately $7,400, and also took the number one position in the Canadian box office.

This weekend’s three day gross makes The Woman in Black the highest opening ever for a Hammer film in the US and one of the very few British films that has broken the $20m opening weekend threshold.

The exceptionally strong US box office weekend was up over 35% on 2011 figures and is particularly striking because it was Super Bowl Sunday, a traditionally weaker box office weekend.
The Woman in Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe, is the iconic production company’s first ever feature ghost story. It is directed by James Watkins and adapted by Jane Goldman from the book by Susan Hill.

The film is a Hammer, Alliance Films, The UK Film Council presentation, in association with Cross Creek Pictures. A Talisman production in association with Exclusive Media. Producers are Richard Jackson, Simon Oakes and Brian Oliver. Executive Producers are Guy East, Nigel Sinclair, Tobin Armbrust, Marc Schipper, Neil Dunn, Xavier Marchand, Roy Lee and Tyler Thompson.

Commenting on the success of The Woman in Black, Simon Oakes, President & CEO of Hammer and Vice Chairman of Exclusive Media said: “We are delighted that The Woman in Black has performed so well. The fact that a gothic horror has attracted such a large audience on opening weekend shows the demand for elevated and intelligent genre films which Hammer aims to produce.”

Clive Owen: Sundance 2012: Clive Owen finds Troubles in 'Shadow Dancer' (EW)

by

Casting Clive Owen as an MI5 operative in your movie is never a bad idea, but in Shadow Dancer, the taut British thriller about espionage and betrayal set during a spike of Irish/English violence in the early 1990s, Owen isn’t some gun-toting super-agent quick with a quip. Instead, he’s a middle-level field officer assigned with recruiting a captured Irish nationalist (W.E.’s Andrea Riseborough) — whose subway bomb failed to explode — to betray her family.

“I think it’s a great performance by Clive,” says director James Marsh, a Sundance fave after his heralded 2008 documentary, Man on Wire. “It’s something he doesn’t do enough of, in my view. It’s very understated and discreet what he’s doing in the film.

In Shadow Dancer, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival Tuesday night, Owen’s Mac and Riseborough’s Colette find themselves wary partners as the political ground shifts beneath them. “I love the dilemmas of the main characters,” says Owen. “He’s somebody who spends a long time reeling her in, and then develops a conscience when he realizes that his superiors are willing to sacrifice her. I thought it was a great conflict for a character.”

Clive Owen: 'Shadow Dancer' will premier at Berlin Film Festival (RTE)

Directed by James Marsh (Project Nim, Man on Wire) and based on the novel of the same name by journalist Tom Bradby, Shadow Dancer tells the story of Colette McVeigh (Riseborough), a member of the IRA who is apprehended by MI5 after an aborted bombing in London.

She is given a choice: spend 25 years in jail and never see her son grow up or return to Belfast to spy on her brother, leader of the IRA in the city and "the last obstacle to a viable peace process".

Shadow Dancer, the new IRA thriller starring Andrea Riseborough, Clive Owen, Gillian Anderson, Aidan Gillen and Domhnall Gleeson, is to receive its European premiere at the Berlin Film Festival next month.

Luke Evans: The Raven, March 9, 2012 (Hell Horror - The Horror Community)

Released: March 09, 2012

Summary: In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who's using Poe's own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster). When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper--part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe's writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author's help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer's next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it's too late.

Director: James McTeigue

Cast: John Cusack, Luke Evans, Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson, Oliver Jackson-Cohen

Liam Neeson: 'The Grey' Exclusive Clip: Liam Neeson Faces The Wild (MTV)

Posted 1/10/12 3:00 pm ET by Jeremy Gordon in Video
You're about to watch an exclusive clip from Liam Neeson's upcoming thriller, "The Grey." This time, he's not fighting terrorists who've kidnapped his daughter or an identity thief, but something far more immutable: the wilderness itself.

A group of men are stranded in Alaska following a plane crash, and Neeson's the leader who must bring them back to civilization. While trekking through the unknown, they're forced to use their intelligence to survive the threats of the wild: wolves, and lots of them.

In the clip, Neeson and his partner are standing over a cliff, contemplating the fall below them. "You go," Neeson says to the other man, who polishes his glasses before slipping over the edge and onto a sagging trip line connecting him to some unseen surface in the distance. While struggling to maintain position, he turns his head for a brief moment and then watches his glasses fall off into the abyss (in slow motion, of course).

Film talk for a second: the muted colors look beautiful, and the whole interaction is nicely underscored by the wind, which obscures the dialogue with a relentless whoosh. It feels like you're in Alaska, basically. At the very least, "The Grey" will definitely be more than just an easy punch line about "that movie where Liam Neeson fights a wolf." (Though he does fight a wolf, never forget that.)

The movie arrives in theaters on January 27.

BREAKING: Colin Firth Offered Villain Role In OLDBOY

Film News

by Todd Brown, November 11, 2011 2:34 PM

At one point actor Colin Firth was attached to play a key role in Oldboy director Park Chan-wook's English language debut, Stoker. That didn't work out but now Firth may very well end up playing the villain role in Spike Lee's upcoming remake of Park's Oldboy.

Twitch has learned that an offer is out to Firth for the part of Adrian, which means that - should he accept - he will be stepping into the villain role opposite Josh Brolin.

This is a surprising choice but a good one, I think. Though Firth is best known for playing a variety of good guys and proper gentlemen he is a talented and diverse actor, one more than capable of going dark when the material calls for it and he will certain provide the surface layer of polished civility that this particular role requires as counterpoint to the more brutish antihero in the lead.

Daniel Radcliffe and The Woman in Black trailer

The UK trailer for the next upcoming film of Daniel Radcliffe, “The Woman In Black” has arrived and you can watch the new trailer down below. The movie is directed by James Watkins and the script from Jane Goldman. The film opens in North America on February 3rd, 2012.
Are you gonna watch the movie? Looking at the trailer for this movie you can see that is creepy, possibly when you go to the movie theater you might jump off your seat in a few moments but who knows what might happend to other people if you like to go to movie premieres and get to enjoy watching it with the audience. Believe me, I’ve done it and its fun.

What is The Woman In Black, it tells us a story about a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps played by Daniel Radcliffe, who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works on this alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, but his unease keeps growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of The Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.

Also starring in the movie are Ciaran Hinds, Liz White, Janet McTeer, Alisa Khazanova, Tim McMullan, Roger Allam, Daniel Cerqueira, Shaun Dooley, Mary Stockley, Cathy Sara, David Burke, Victor McGuire and Lucy May Barker.

For me personally, I wouldn’t release it in February, I would totally release it for this year especially for October. It would be a very great moment to get spooked or something with this film. For Halloween, perhaps? What do you think?
