HENRY CAVILL: Ben Affleck to play Batman in 'Man of Steel' sequel

Ben Affleck, 41, will take on the role of reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne, Batman's alter-ego, in director Zack Snyder's 2015 sequel to this year's Superman reboot "Man of Steel," starring 30-year-old British actor Henry Cavill.

"We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character," Greg Silverman, president of creative development at Warner Bros Pictures said.

'Lord of the Rings' star Orlando Bloom tipped for Batman role

According to UK publication The Daily Express, Orlando Bloom is being strongly considered for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming Batman-Superman crossover.

Ever since Welsh actor Christian Bale announced earlier in the month that he was giving up the Batman mantle, the internet has been abuzz with predictions on the next actor who will take up the role.

The Express says that a senior source at Warner Bros studio confirmed that Bloom is "odds-on to get the part, even before [their] first casting call."

The studio source says that Bloom "would be perfect to play off Henry [Cavill] and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads."

Henry Cavill: Superman and Batman crossover movie announced by WB at Comic-Con 2013

A Superman and Batman crossover movie is in development, according to the Los Angeles Times, and Warner Bros appears poised to blow Comic-Con out of the water today when they make the official announcement at their Hall H panel at Comic-Con 2013.

The crossover will be the follow-up to Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill which hit theaters in June. Cavill will reprise his role as Superman, and director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer will be included in the project which is planned for a 2015 release date.

Update: Warner Bros. has confirmed the news. Director Zack Snyder commented on the the film saying, “I’m so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can’t wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.”

The film will reportedly be called World’s Finest, and some footage was shown which ended with the official logo seen here:

After Man of Steel pulled in $620 million earlier this year, it was also announced that director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer would be focusing on a Man of Steel sequel. This crossover film is most likely what’s next.

It’s possible that Warner Bros. may have decided to focus on Batman and Superman teaming up in the sequel, but that brings up the massive question: Who will be cast as Bruce Wayne? We’ve heard nothing solid at all about the recasting of Batman. The only thing we know for certain is that Christian Bale will not reprise his role as Batman

Cover) - EN Movies - Christian Bale started to feel “a bit loopy” while shooting The Dark Knight Rises.

The actor plays Batman/Bruce Wayne in the popular superhero franchise. Cast and crew spent a couple of days shooting scenes in the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India, and Christian admits the scorching temperatures deeply affected him.

“Jodhpur was quite nuts. You do start to feel a bit loopy,” he told Total Film. “There were funny old conversations at the end of the day. I liked that the costume department had packed some nice parkas for us to wear – in case it got a bit nippy.”

The Dark Knight Rises is set several years after the 2008 blockbuster movie The Dark Knight.

Christian’s character has become reclusive and the star says he is still coming to terms with his traumatic childhood and the weight of responsibility that comes with being Batman.
