Actress Keira Knightley proudly labels herself a feminist and regularly stands up for women. She’s been outspoken in interviews, advocating for better treatment of women in entertainment, whether it’s the roles available to them or the way their bodies are portrayed in magazines.

Yet, why is it that when we think of celebrity feminists, she isn’t in the notorious feminist echelon of Beyonce, Lorde, Taylor Swift and Emma Watson?

She’s fearless when it comes to her bold opinions, and that’s why, when we’re looking for more role models in Hollywood, we should look straight at Knightley. It’s time for Keira Knightley to take her rightful place in the ranks of Hollywood feminist heroes.

Here are just a few reasons we’re loving her right now.

When it comes to Photoshop, she just says no.

In November she protested against the way women are constantly picked apart through Photoshop by posing topless in Interview Magazine, refusing retouching. Not only did this please those who support the #freethenipple campaign (Miley’s a proud one!) but it demanded that women are respected for the body that they naturally have.

“Knightley told Time. “That [shoot] was one of the ones where I said: ‘OK, I’m fine doing the topless shot so long as you don’t make them any bigger or retouch.’ Because it does feel important to say it really doesn’t matter what shape you are.”

While celebrity photography can be artful, she also said it can be problematic when it manipulates women’s images. “I think women’s bodies are a battleground and photography is partly to blame,” she said.

Keira Knightley To Make Broadway Debut in ‘Therese Raquin’

Keira Knightley is coming to the Great White Way.

“The Pirates of the Carribbean” star is making her Broadway debut in in a new adaptation of “Thérèse Raquin” by Helen Edmundson (“The Clearing”), based upon the novel by Émile Zola. The drama will be directed by Evan Cabnet.

The announcement was made today in a press release sent out by Todd Haimes, Artistic Director of the Roundabout Theater Company.

These smart cookies at Roundabout now have a revival of “Cabaret” filling seats, which stars Emma Stone, who replaced Michele Williams in the role of Sally Bowles. Stone stars in the phenomenal black comedy “Birdman,” directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, which pokes fun at the current trend of making a splash on Broadway by hiring big movie stars to attract audiences. Can you imagine how many tourists would normally race to buy tickets for a production of a classic but downbeat production like “Thérèse Raquin” if a big-name Hollywood actress wasn’t headlining?

Although Knightley is making her Broadway debut, she is no newbie to theater. Her theater creds include her West End theatrical debut in Martin Crimp’s translation of Molière’s comedy “The Misanthrope,” staged by Thea Sharrock at the Comedy Theatre in London (Olivier Award nomination & Evening Standard Award nomination for The Natasha Richardson Award For Best Actress). In January 2011, she starred in Lillian Hellman’s “The Children’s Hour,” staged by Ian Rickson.

“Thérèse Raquin” is about a woman stuck in a loveless marriage to a weak man. She has reconciled herself to a life without passion until she meets Laurent and then her life is turned upside down when the two are unable to ignore their primal attraction. It’s pretty intense stuff, filled with love, betrayal, guilt and murder. Add to the mix a controlling and suspicious mother and it gets intense. Cast and crew are yet to be announced.

Benedict Cumberbatch is in talks to replace Guy Pearce in the Johnny Depp-starring Whitey Bulger crime drama from Warner Bros. and Cross Creek Pictures, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie, which is based on the book Black Mass: Whitey Bulger, the FBI, and a Devil's Deal, is now shooting in Boston with Scott Cooper directing.

Pearce was to have played Whitey's brother Billy Bulger but dropped out a few weeks ago for reasons unknown. The studios is trying to close a deal for Cumberbatch to step in, although he was approached a few weeks ago.

The actress became a household name in her native Britain after starring in 2002's Bend It Like Beckham, and has gone on to star in box office hits like Pirates Of The Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice, and Atonement.

Orlando Bloom has been nothing if not outwardly positive regarding his separation from Miranda Kerr.

"We love each other, we're a family," the British actor told Katie Couric during an interview airing Friday on Katie.



"We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives. There's no question for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn."

Reps for the handsome pair, who were together for three years before tying the knot in 2010, confirmed first to E! News last week that Bloom and Kerr had "amicably separated" a few months beforehand.

Their relentlessly adorable son, Flynn, is 2 1/2.

"And you know," Bloom went on, "life doesn't always works out exactly as we plan or hope for but fortunately we're both... we're adults. We love and care about each other and we, most of all, love our son."

On Instagram today, Kerr posted a photo of herself dressed as a sexy cat (well, maybe just a normal cat,

but the Victoria's Secret model can't help but be sexy) and Flynn looking extra-adorable as a wee Superman.

'Lord of the Rings' star Orlando Bloom tipped for Batman role

According to UK publication The Daily Express, Orlando Bloom is being strongly considered for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming Batman-Superman crossover.

Ever since Welsh actor Christian Bale announced earlier in the month that he was giving up the Batman mantle, the internet has been abuzz with predictions on the next actor who will take up the role.

The Express says that a senior source at Warner Bros studio confirmed that Bloom is "odds-on to get the part, even before [their] first casting call."

The studio source says that Bloom "would be perfect to play off Henry [Cavill] and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads."

Keira Knightley reportedly can’t start having children due to hefty career obligations.

The 28-year-old British actress married The Klaxons musician James Righton just months ago.

The newlyweds are said to be eager to start a family, but apparently Keira simply has too much on her plate professionally to get pregnant anytime soon.

Keira starred as Elizabeth Swann in some of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and apparently the studio wants her back for an upcoming film.

Although the star loves her work, it is said that she is experiencing personal conflict about taking on the job.

“They have asked Keira to reprise her role as Elizabeth Swann,” a source told Star magazine.

“Right now, all she and James want to do is start a family, but she also has a huge loyalty to the film franchise.”

Keira’s husband James is said to be encouraging her to do what feels right.

Apparently the rock star wants his wife to be happy and is willing to wait to have kids until she is ready to become a mother.

With the recent cancellation of NBC’s Smash, I can no longer look forward to seeing the marvelous British actor Jack Davenport on my television screen.

I have been actively following his career since the first time I stumbled upon BBC’s Coupling one fateful day many years ago and have always been pleased to see him pop up in various series and movies.

I consider him to be one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood and sincerely hope that no longer being committed to a series gives him ample time to attack new projects. I will certainly be on the lookout for his next starring role, but in the meantime I would like to share with those who may be unaware some of the many reasons that Jack Davenport is awesome.

#2 – He was so likeable that he wrote himself into a huge movie franchise

From the sassy Commodore in The Curse of the Black Pearl to the self-sacrificing Admiral in At World’s End, this bad guy turned good guy turned drunk guy turned good guy is hard not to love. While Norrington was only intended to be in the first film, the character was so liked by audiences and critics that he was kept around far longer. Props must go to Jack Davenport, who made us love him even when he was trying to hang our beloved anti-hero.

#1 – He made some of the best observational relationship rants you never would

If you have not seen this show, you have no idea what you are missing. I have seen every episode numerous times and it never stops being hysterical. Before Steven Moffat helmed Doctor Who, he penned this beloved British sitcom in the early 2000s. Jack Davenport plays Steve, one of six friends who get themselves into some of the stickiest situations you could imagine. The dialogue, the acting, and the plots of this brilliant series will have you laughing until your sides hurt.

Tom Hollander , the star of 'Rev', says he was paid 'badly' for his role as Lord Cutler Beckett in 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.

Most British actors may hanker after parts in Hollywood blockbusters, but Tom Hollander, who is best known for playing the priest in Rev, says the experience left him feeling neither very satisfied, nor very rich.

Of his role as Lord Cutler Beckett, the “heavy” in Pirates of the Caribbean, he recalls that, while the production was “staggeringly expensive”, he was “badly” paid

Speaking at the Names Not Numbers Festival at Aldeburgh in Suffolk, the 45-year-old actor said that whenever he was allowed time off, he got as far away from the set as possible.

“It was a way of getting my own back. When they changed the schedule at the last minute, I would say, 'That’s fine, but I’m in Calcutta’, and they would say 'No problem’, and I would be airlifted out of the Third World in Lufthansa first class.”

He felt that there was a camaraderie among the character actors involved in the project and they all tended to compare notes in the smoking room of Miami airport.
