Actor Christian Bale is reportedly in talks to star opposite Jennifer Lawrence in The Ends of the Earth.
The Ends of the Earth tells the true story of oil tycoon Ernest Marland, who loses his empire after being caught in an affair, with the lead character being his 20-year-old adopted daughter Lydie (Jennifer Lawrence).
Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale are also set to co-star in another of David O Russell’s upcoming projects, a currently untitled political drama centering on 1970s FBI sting operation Abscam.
Christian Bale could be set to return as Batman in DC comics’ Justice League movie, according to a report.
The deal which could make it happen is an alleged move by Warner Bros to give Batman trilogy director Christopher Nolan complete control over the comics’ universe, which sees its next instalment with Henry Cavill’s turn as Superman in Man of Steel.
The Superman reboot will be directed by Zak Snyder, but Nolan will executive produce, and the Latino Review, a site with a decent record of scoops on superhero and sci-fi movies, last month breaking the news that Harrison Ford was set to return to Star Wars.
The website claims that the Justice League movie has “gone into lockdown”, with Warner Bros pulling out all the stops to ensure that it is a success.
Tom Hardy continues to add to his already-busy schedule as the "Dark Knight Rises" thesp is in talks to star in the Scott Free production "Child 44."
Daniel Espinosa is helming the pic, with Ridley Scott producing for Scott Free.
Richard Price is penning the script based on the Tom Rob Smith novel. Story is set in the Stalin-era Soviet Union and follows a disgraced lawyer who is dispatched to investigate a series of child murders.
Hardy is first expected to shoot the Fox Searchlight pic "Animal Rescue" with Noomi Rapace in March, followed by "Child 44."
With the iconic James Bond franchise set to receive a significant amount of attention at the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony given that 'Skyfall' marked the spy series' 50th anniversary as well as becoming the biggest blockbuster of the year in terms of both commercial and critical success, it's only natural that we've started to wonder about Bond number seven. After all, Daniel Craig has completed a total of three 007 flicks over the past six years and after getting wed in 2011, now might be the time to step down and enjoy some family time before he reaches 50. We think it's an absolutely essential part of portraying the secret spy that he is played by an British actor, but film making seems to have become changeable in terms of the nationality of big brand characters these days. Take iconic superheroes Spider-Man and Superman for example: 'The Amazing Spider-Man' was the latest installment in the franchise and that very American title role was scooped by Brit Andrew Garfield while Henry Cavill landed the main role in the upcoming Superman movie 'Man of Steel'. If Brits can become Americans, let's hope the opposite doesn't become of Bond.

The cast of "The Dark Knight Rises" took the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards to introduce an exclusive clip from the hotly anticipated summer blockbuster, but things took an unexpectedly emotional turn following a montage of director Christopher Nolan's first two "Batman" films, which included scenes of the late Heath Ledger's iconic performance as the Joker in "The Dark Knight."
At the clip's conclusion, Christian Bale, flanked by his co-stars Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, stepped up to the mic and said, "Wow, great to remember Heath at that moment. Wonderful to see Heath Ledger there."
The Oscar-winning actor then lowered his head and appeared to get choked up as the audience applauded for Ledger, who died in January 2008 at age 28 from an acute intoxication from the combined effects of several prescription medications. A few months after his passing, "The Dark Knight" arrived in theaters to critical acclaim and enormous box-office success.

The actor plays Batman/Bruce Wayne in the popular superhero franchise. Cast and crew spent a couple of days shooting scenes in the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India, and Christian admits the scorching temperatures deeply affected him.
“Jodhpur was quite nuts. You do start to feel a bit loopy,” he told Total Film. “There were funny old conversations at the end of the day. I liked that the costume department had packed some nice parkas for us to wear – in case it got a bit nippy.”
The Dark Knight Rises is set several years after the 2008 blockbuster movie The Dark Knight.
Christian’s character has become reclusive and the star says he is still coming to terms with his traumatic childhood and the weight of responsibility that comes with being Batman.
With July 20 bringing "The Dark Knight Rises," the final installment in the Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale trilogy of "Batman" films, fans have wondered if Liam Neeson (whose Ra's al Ghul character was killed in "Batman Begins") would make another appearance.
ComicBookMovie.com noted that the production notes for Neeson's next film, "Wrath of the Titans," included "Dark Knight Rises" as one of his upcoming projects.
CNN recently spoke with Neeson at the press junket for "Wrath of the Titans" to clear this up, and to see what Neeson knows about the film, which has been shrouded in mystery.
"I think so," he said. "I have no idea what the story is about. Nothing. Nothing. Seriously, I'm not sure if I'm still in it. It's a cameo – let's put it that way – if it still survives.”

Reese Witherspoon may have been the leading lady in ‘This Means War’ but it was her costars Chelsea Handler and Tom Hardy who deserved a big round of applause.
Witherspoon stars as Lauren, a consumer products tester who dates two CIA operatives at the same time.
When the agents and best friends FDR (Chris Pine) and Tuck (Hardy) find out they are dating the same woman, the claws come out as they battle it out for her affection using extreme spy tactics.
The love triangle gets even messier when villain Heinrish, played by ‘Inglorious Basterds' star Til Schweiger, seeks his revenge on the agents over the death of his brother.
Hardy injected his cheeky British humour as Tuck who charms his love interest with his sweet and charismatic persona. The actor's romantic comedy part shows his versatility as a leading man after playing more serious roles in ‘Batman,’ ‘Inception’ and ‘Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy’.
US TV host Handler was the other stand out as she brought her famously candid sense of humour to her role as Trish who acts as a sounding board for her best friend Lauren as she struggles to choose between the two men.

He's 78 years old, but movie legend Sir Michael Caine says lots of things in life make him feel years younger.
They include his grandchildren, his beautiful wife Shakira, his astonishing film career... and never looking at his own reflection.
“I don’t feel very old, but I never look in a mirror so I always think I’m about 38,” he laughs.
Forty years after marrying Shakira, Michael says they are as happy as the day they met.
He first saw the Miss World finalist in a TV ad for Maxwell House coffee. He was a bit of a playboy at the time with lots of girlfriends, but was instantly smitten.

He was about to fly out to Brazil to find her... until a mutual pal told him she lived a mile from him in London.
The friend gave him her number and they’ve been together ever since.
And at 65, Shakira is still amazingly beautiful.
“You should have seen her when she was 24,” he says.
“Oh we’re so romantic. We go off on little honeymoons. Every now and again we go off to a lovely hotel called the George V in Paris and have a weekend honeymoon away from everybody.
“Paris is our city. We always do the quote from Casablanca... Humphrey Bogart to Ingrid Bergman, she was saying goodbye and he says, ‘We’ll always have Paris.’ And that’s us two.”

Triple Oscar winner Michael, born Maurice Micklewhite into an impoverished family in Rotherhithe, South London, drifted to Paris as a young man.
“I know the city so well. I went there when I was very young and broke. I wound up selling frites on the streets on a hotdog stand.
“I made very good frites actually. And then I went back wealthier and wealthier and was able to stay in nicer and nicer places and to eat at all the great restaurants.”

After complaining that his two daughters were slow to give him grandchildren, Sir Michael and Shakira have recently acquired three, and he couldn’t be happier about it.
“I was 75 and suddenly got three grandchildren. My youngest daughter had a son and the next year she had twins. I’ve got two boys and a girl, so it’s perfect.
“You don’t quite know how wonderful it is until you get them. And then you become completely besotted with them.
“I am, and my wife is even worse. I’m just like the grandchildren now, playing Ben on the iPad. It’s great, fantastic.”
Sir Michael, who has appeared in some of the most memorable British movies of all time, has had one of the longest careers in the industry.
But of all his roles – from breakthrough part Lt Gonville Bromhead in 1964’s Zulu to the title character in 2009’s Harry Brown – it’s as Alfred Pennyworth, the Butler in Batman, that he’s most recognised for.

“There was a funny incident a little while ago,” he says. “I was walking along Piccadilly in London and there was a group of 12 Japanese teenagers.
“They all saw me and went nuts. They were all pointing at me and getting little bits of paper out saying, ‘Can we have your autograph?’ And I said, ‘What film have you seen me in?’ And they said, ‘You’re Alfred, Batman.’
“Tiny little Japanese girls and they all knew who I was. Isn’t that great?”

ORLANDO, Fla. - "I don't analyze myself, or what people think about me," Christian Bale says, pretty much any time any conversation with him even hints at turning "personal."
He doesn't know how much his profile changed after he landed the lead in the Batman / Dark Knight movies. He can't say if his actor's actor reputation was burnished by adding an Oscar (for 2010's "The Fighter") to his mantle. He isn't self-reflective that way. And he isn't sharing.
"I don't want to know too much about how it was made or much about the person acting in it," he explains. "It depresses the (bleep) out of me to get into an actor's head. Completely unnecessary. It's a distraction, a thorn in the side of any performance."
He doesn't want filmgoers thinking about this bit of gossip or that snippet of viral audio about him. Obliterate his brooding take on the Dark Knight from your memory. He wants us to attempt what he himself shoots for, with every new film - to think about only "the work."
And after his raw, moving and yet amusing award-winning turn in "The Fighter," maybe that's his due.
There's plenty of mystery surrounding the upcoming superhero flick, "The Dark Knight Rises." If we were to take Christopher Nolan's word as law, then we'd believe the movie is only about Tom Hardy's Bane causing trouble for Christian Bale's Batman with Anne Hathaway's Catwoman wreaking some havoc on the side.
Fortunately, we're of the belief that there are going to be some awesome surprises in "The Dark Knight Rises." One of which will (hopefully) be the return of Liam Neeson as "Batman Begins" villain Ra's al Ghul.
Just this month saw the release of ones for Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" (that football scene made my jaw drop!) Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" (let the 'Ring' saga continue!) and Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" (my favorite of the bunch).

Another actor who has thoroughly impressed everyone in the FemaleFirst offices this year is the very lovely Tom Hardy.
Yes Hardy has taken it up a notch this year as he lead the cast in Warrior before joining the ensemble of the excellent Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy - and while it’s been a great 2011 for the actor 2012 looks set to be even bigger.
For me personally Warrior has been the best movie of the year, by some way it has to be said, it’s not all about kicking the shit out of each other it has a very human story at it’s heart.
Hardy led the cast list in the role of Tommy Riordan, ex marine and mixed martial arts fighter who is haunted by a tragic past that has put him at odds with his father and brother.
Hardy is simply magnificent in this role, really demonstrating why he is a British talent that we should all be getting super excited about.
It’s a very emotional performance as his character struggles to come to terms with the family struggles and difficulties of the past - which resulted in him being left alone to care for his dying mother.
But you can’t have a movie like this an not have some great fight scenes - and great they really are as hardy and Joel Edgerton appear to have gone above and beyond the call of duty when physically preparing for this role.
If you haven’t seen Warrior then it is a movie that you really should check out as it draws you in from start to finish - not only with some great action sequences but some really emotional relationships.
Hardy then backed that up with another great turn in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - the best ensemble movie of 2011.
Hardy plays a spy in hiding in the movie and turns to George Smiley, played by Gary Oldman, for help.
The movie was both a critical and commercial success as director Tomas Alfredson brought the John Le Carre novel to the big screen.
But 2012 looks set to send Hardy’s star rocketing further with some great projects in the pipeline.
First up he stars alongside Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in action/comedy This Means War - which is set to hit the big screen early next year.
However the movie that we are all looking forward to next summer is The Dark Knight Rises, which sees Hardy take on the role of Bane.

The Dark Knight Rises isn’t released for seven months but Warner Bros will be screening the movie’s first six minutes for British fans at Imax theatres. Will the footage spoil the experience of seeing the full film, or is it merely the latest tool in the movie marketers’ arsenal?

A man steps on to a plane. About five minutes later, he gets off it. Yes, that’s pretty much all that happens in the prologue for The Dark Knight Rises, the most eagerly anticipated cinema release of 2012 – unless you’re a fan of hobbits or vampires.
But it is the way he does it that makes the final instalment of British director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy a must-see when it swoops into cinemas next July.
Aerial panache aside, why are we watching the first six minutes of a film seven months before its release?
The taster will be screened ahead of Imax showings of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol from today and comes just days after the studio behind the Batman movies, Warner Bros, released the first full-length trailer for their blockbuster.
Screening it so far in advance follows the same template trodden by the previous movie, The Dark Knight – its bank-heist opening introduced the world to Heath Ledger’s Joker long before the film was released.
The preview appears to have satisfied critics despite concerns about parts of the dialogue being almost unintelligible. ‘It’s a strange experience,’ conceded Dan Jolin, of Empire magazine.
‘With films you sink into the world they create gradually. So to drop you in with six minutes and then stop is a slightly odd experience but far better than a two-minute trailer.
‘You’ve got to go into a cinema to experience it. And I think that can only be a good thing.’
He added it can boost the movie’s marketing by keeping it in film fans’ minds.
‘There’s this very precious thing known as talkability,’ he explained. ‘It’s like the background noise of the cultural discourse – they just want it to thrum away so it’s always present. When the film comes out it’s almost like you’ve no option – you’ve just got to go and see it.’
Mr Jolin added the prologue also lets Nolan show off to movie fans the capabilities of shooting in Imax. Simon Brew, of movie website Den of Geek, agrees – despite the relatively low number of Imax screens in Britain.
He said: ‘I think it’s almost irrelevant in terms of the number of people who will see it over here but conversely the number of people who are talking about it, who are hitting websites, who are doing reviews and reports on what they’ve seen is astronomical. And for a marketing department somewhere, that’s gold.’
He added putting out a prologue for a summer blockbuster the previous winter can be a success, if it retains its niche.
‘The problem would be if 20 summer movies all did the same thing, as no one would notice. But any trend that leads to a path with lots of money generally has quite a few people galloping behind.’
Jon Lyus, of film blog HeyUGuys, claimed it is just the next extension of a sustained marketing campaign by the studio, much of it online.
‘Harry Potter had 1.5million fans in Britain on their Facebook page,’ he said. ‘If you want to put a new poster out or trailer, all you have to do is click a few buttons and a million people will see it.’
The Dark Knight Rises has embraced viral marketing – the first look of Tom Hardy as Batman’s nemesis Bane was revealed through a campaign on Twitter.
And when a movie is this big and this anticipated, negative web chatter might not matter.
‘They did Avatar Day when Avatar came out in 2009 and it was deemed to be a PR disaster,’ said Mr Jolin. ‘It went on to be the biggest film ever. For all the snarking online about Bane’s voice, I don’t think it’s going to harm the film.’
