Sherlock and Star Trek Into Darkness star Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly in "final negotiations" to play Doctor Strange for Marvel Studios.

The news comes via Deadline. Doctor Strange was recently name-dropped in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The British actor was first reported to be on Marvel's wish list some months ago, but then Joaquin Phoenix was approached for the role. Ultimately, Phoenix wouldn't commit to a multi-film contract.

Mark Gatiss: Great Documentary About Ghost Story Writer M.R. James From “Sherlock” Star/Creator

Writer/actor Mark Gatiss (Doctor Who, Sherlock, League of Gentlemen) writes and hosts this fine documentary on the greatest ghost story writer of them all: medievalist and Biblical scholar Montague Rhodes James. Special treats include locations from James stories (such as St Bertrand de Comminges, stuffed crocodile and all), a passing shot of a tombstone for “Mrs Mothersole” from his childhood home, some fantastic medieval illumination, and more. I have to give credit to Gatiss (who is himself gay) for exploring James’ sexuality while declining to impose modern ideas of homosexuality. (James is best described as wholly asexual.)

Henry Cavill works up a sweat as he takes part in gruelling uphill fundraising run for Royal Marines in Gibraltar

Superman commitments may well have been put to the side on Saturday morning, but Henry Cavill’s latest public appearance was no less heroic as worked up a sweat on The Rock Run in Gibraltar.

British star Cavill, 31, was joined by brother Nik Cavill – a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Marines – for the 350th anniversary run, which sees sponsored participants undertake an exhausting five kilometre uphill climb for charity.

Sporting the fundraising initiative’s luminous yellow T-shirt and black shorts, the actor, currently working on forthcoming epic Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, ran alongside his brother and 40 other competitors as part of the fundraising initiative, which generates money for the Royal Marines.

Dame Maggie Smith's transformation from Dowager to Homeless Woman

Based on a real life story, the film adaptation of the West End play depicts the troubled life of Miss Shepherd, a homeless pensioner who lived in a van outside playwright Alan Bennett's house.

In the 15 years she lived outside his home, Bennett formed an unlikely bond with the eccentric woman and allowed her to park in his driveway. When she tragically passed away in 1989, he decided to write a play honouring her life.

When opening up about their odd living arrangements, he said: "In giving her sanctuary in my garden and landing myself with a tenancy that went on eventually for 15 years, I was never under any illusion that the impulse was purely charitable. But I wanted a quiet life as much as, and possibly more than, she did. In the garden she was at least out of harm's way."

Tragically, upon her death, Bennett discovered his unusual outside neighbour was in fact a talented pianist who lost her home and job after suffering from a mental breakdown.

The Lady In The Van is expected to be released in 2015.

Keira Knightley To Make Broadway Debut in ‘Therese Raquin’

Keira Knightley is coming to the Great White Way.

“The Pirates of the Carribbean” star is making her Broadway debut in in a new adaptation of “Thérèse Raquin” by Helen Edmundson (“The Clearing”), based upon the novel by Émile Zola. The drama will be directed by Evan Cabnet.

The announcement was made today in a press release sent out by Todd Haimes, Artistic Director of the Roundabout Theater Company.

These smart cookies at Roundabout now have a revival of “Cabaret” filling seats, which stars Emma Stone, who replaced Michele Williams in the role of Sally Bowles. Stone stars in the phenomenal black comedy “Birdman,” directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, which pokes fun at the current trend of making a splash on Broadway by hiring big movie stars to attract audiences. Can you imagine how many tourists would normally race to buy tickets for a production of a classic but downbeat production like “Thérèse Raquin” if a big-name Hollywood actress wasn’t headlining?

Although Knightley is making her Broadway debut, she is no newbie to theater. Her theater creds include her West End theatrical debut in Martin Crimp’s translation of Molière’s comedy “The Misanthrope,” staged by Thea Sharrock at the Comedy Theatre in London (Olivier Award nomination & Evening Standard Award nomination for The Natasha Richardson Award For Best Actress). In January 2011, she starred in Lillian Hellman’s “The Children’s Hour,” staged by Ian Rickson.

“Thérèse Raquin” is about a woman stuck in a loveless marriage to a weak man. She has reconciled herself to a life without passion until she meets Laurent and then her life is turned upside down when the two are unable to ignore their primal attraction. It’s pretty intense stuff, filled with love, betrayal, guilt and murder. Add to the mix a controlling and suspicious mother and it gets intense. Cast and crew are yet to be announced.
