Tom Hardy, currently seen onscreen with his face partially obscured as 'Bane' in The Dark Knight Rises, has signed on to the feature film adaptation of the Brett C Leonard play, The Long Red Road. Hardy starred in the play, which was directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, and will be reprising his role as Sam in the movie version.
Variety reports Michael Shannon has snagged a lead role playing Hardy's older brother.
The project's set up at Whipsmart with Leonard attached to adapt his own play. There's no word yet on whether Hoffman will direct the film. The play premiered in February 2010 at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.
