Julian Assange pleaded Benedict Cumberbatch to leave WikiLeaks flick (BUSINESS STANDARD)

Founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, wanted Benedict Cumberbatch to quit Hollywood's adaptation of his story after objecting to the original version of the movie's script.

The 'Star Trek Into Darkness' actor plays the role of the Australian journalist in 'The Fifth Estate', which is an upcoming film based on his whistle blowing site that made headlines all over the world for leaking top secret and highly classified files from military and international government sources, Contact music reported.

The Brit star had recently revealed that he had tried to set up a meeting with the beleaguered Assange, but the activist did not want any contact whatsoever.

Cumberbatch told a New York Magazine that Assange hates the idea of the film and had actually asked him to leave the project in a bid to put a stop to the movie.

"I said to him, 'Well, somebody is going to do it, wouldn't you rather it's someone who has your ear, who could steer the film to a place that's more accurate or balanced?" he asked the troubled Assange.
