Henry Cavill pics from my kind of town - CHICAGO

HENRY CAVILL NEWS

Henry poses with Alex Quintero who is a bouncer at the club.

He shared the rest of his story with us (thanks so much Dave!):

I received a phone call from my boyfriend, around 3pm 420/Easter Sunday, who was waiting tables at Jack's on Halsted - 3201 N. HALSTED- and he said he wasn't sure but he thought Henry Cavill was there having brunch w an unknown female. I was house sitting at Irving Park n Kedzi area, so I flew over to Jack's w the hope of a pic n autograph...

Not wanting to get my boyfriend Barry in trouble, I made sure to get permission from Mr. Cavill to approach him after he was done eating cuz the last thing I wanted to do was annoy THE MAN OF STEEL! Anyway, Mr. Cavill said sure and my boyfriend said it was up to me now...so I took a breath and headed toward their table. I introduced myself to Henry and shook his hand then turned to the woman to shake her hand and introduce myself ...turns out the "unknown female" is none other than Gina Carano, star of action flick HAYWIRE, 2008 American Gladiator Crush, world champion MMA fighter. Said hello as Henry was standing up so my boyfriend could take our pic...I was breathless w the double wammy of the two cuz I love her too and wasn't expecting it to be her- I was floored. All I could say to her was that she was gorgeous. Then we took the pic and I handed him my wallet and a black marker - I came prepared for him, not her too tho!- as he signed, I gushed about how a great superman he makes and what a great job he's doin and congratulations and good luck w ur career. Then I walked away to compose myself..they were about to cash out when Henry went to the bathroom - exactly where I was trying to compose. I got out of his way and thanked him again. Then I said to my boyfriend- loud enough for Henry to hear- that I was leaving now so Henry would not get creeped out. But because I spazzed on Gina, I headed to her on the way out, to tell her that he was gorgeous as well as they were together! Congrats and happy Easter! Peace out, faster than a speeding bullet ;-)

Henry Cavill and Gina Carano glamorous looking and normal looking. Gorgeous either way

Henry Cavill and Gina Carano look very glamorous, very much in love, very Hollywood

Now they are just another ordinary couple, trying to get to the airport, with 350 photographers, reporters and lovesick fans in between.  Happens to me all the time.  Love that he always tries to be a gentleman and smile, even when he'd probably rather smash the photogrphers face in.

Many pictures stolen from HENRY CAVILL FANPAGE.  Don't tell her...

HENRY CAVILL DATING RUMORED WONDER WOMAN?
It's every nerd's dream come true: Superman and Wonder Woman (appear to be) dating.

It looks like Superman and Wonder Woman might be hooking up. The new face of Superman, Henry Cavill showed up to Thursday's Critics' Choice Awards with another superhero on his arm: Gina Carano, the rumored Wonder Woman.

This isn't the first time Carano and Cavill have shared gossip headlines. Rumors had already been circulating that the two might be dating and many think their arrival together is proof.

They've also shared headlines as movie and Superman fans tried to figure out if Carano's Wonder Woman would be making a guest appearance in the upcoming Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as the bird/plane.

Henry Cavill Is Dating Gina Carano (PHOTO) (SOCIALITE LIFE)

By Michael Prieve

Apparently this has been happening for a while now though it’s the first I’ve heard of it, mostly because Henry Cavill doesn’t have that gossip “it”, you know?, so I barely pay attention. Until now. I’ve never been more interested in Henry Cavill...

Did you know Henry Cavill is dating Gina Carano? From the UFC? And Haywire?

Film Ledger reports that fans ran into them in Reno recently. Cavill supposedly broke off with his fiancée in August, met Carano in September, and they’ve been together ever since. Not a couple you want to pick a fight with.

The top 10 Michael Fassbender performances AUGUST 3, 2012 BY SIMON MIRAUDO (QUICK FLIX)

With Michael Fassbender starring in what seems like eight or nine new releases each week, we thought it might be time to offer an early career retrospective on the 35-year-old Irishman. In the half-decade since he first broke into film, the Fass has emerged as one of the most consistent performers in both indie art-house fare and big-budget franchise flicks, earning a Golden Globe nomination, commendations from George Clooney on the size of his equipment, and the universally recognised nickname ‘Fassmember’ for his troubles. Not bad. Not bad at all.

10.  300

As Stelios in Zack Snyder‘s 300, Fassy got the opportunity to run around half-nude in slow motion (a Snyder tradition!), and slice up a bunch of assailants. His is perhaps the only truly sad death, which is impressive, because approximately eight billion people die in this thing.

9.  Haywire

It may amount to little more than a cameo, but as squeaky-voiced M16 agent Paul in Steven Soderbergh‘s Haywire, he gets to do battle with Gina Carano‘s super-spy in the movie’s best sequence.

Is Prometheus Michael Fassbender’s Oscar moment? by MARC CAMERON on Jun 6, 2012 • 8:22 am (FOTORATER)

At last year’s Oscars there appeared to be a significant oversight, to say the least: namely the absence of leading man du jour Michael Fassbender from the Best Actor nominations.

Despite his brilliant performance as sex addict Brandon in British director and artist Steve McQueen’s critically-acclaimed Shame, Fassbender (who was nominated for or won practically every other major acting gong going) was overlooked by the Oscar voting committee. It was wrong, to say the least. Look up injustice in an online dictionary, and you’ll find a picture of Michael Fassbender alongside it.

Beyond undergoing a body metamorphosis, Fassbender’s commitment to the role of Brandon was on a par with anything the likes of Brando, De Niro, or latter day talented actors such as Guy Pearce (Memento) or Christian Bale (The Fighter) has ever exhibited on the big screen. Like with all his roles, Fassbender lived and breathed the character in a mesmerising portrayal of a troubled, restless individual that clearly warranted attention, and got it – just not the Oscar it truly deserved.

Showing that you can’t keep a good man down, the chameleon-like Fassbender has since been seen in Haywire, A Dangerous Method and now Prometheus, stealing the show in every film. And before that he delivered strong performances in Eden Lake, Fish Tank, Hunger (another role he should have got an Oscar nod for) and Inglourious Bastards. But, it’s his performance as David in that should see the German-born Irish actor finally pick up the golden gong his stellar acting work truly deserves. It is nothing short of flawless. And given that it’s a performance that will be seen by a mass audience, it seems impossible to conceive that next year’s Best Actor Oscar nominations won’t feature Fassbender’s name among the chosen few.

Watch: Trailer & Clip For BAFTA Winning Short Film 'Pitch Black Heist' Starring Michael Fassbender NEWS BY KEVIN JAGERNAUTH (THE PLAYLIST)

It seems you can't escape Michael Fassbender these days, not that we're complaining. After having a breakthrough year in 2011 thanks to a staggering quartet of films -- "Jane Eyre," "X-Men: First Class," "A Dangerous Method" and "Shame" -- 2012 may be slightly slower in theatrical releases, but he'll still be knocking around the arthouse and the multiplex. He already featured in Steven Soderbergh's "Haywire" where he got his ass handed to him by Gina Carano and of course, this summer there's that little sci-fi "Prometheus" you have heard of. Well, you can add one more flick to the list.

Ewan McGregor: Now a singer? - Gatecrashers, New York Daily News

EWAN McGREGOR can rock a crowd but don’t expect him to do it on a record. At the dinner Nylon Guys magazine and Berocca hosted in McGregor’s honor Thursday, we told the “Haywire” star we’d heard he’d given a remarkable performance fronting a rock band at the Go Go Gala in L.A. in November. “I don’t know if I was that good, but I sure had fun,” McGregor said at the Hotel Americano dinner that was attended by Nicholas K designer Nicholas Kunz and photographer Mick Rock. McGregor explained that he’s hosted Go Go for a couple years now, but decided to perform last-minute when organizers had trouble securing entertainment. That said, when we asked McGregor if he planned to record an album, he smiled his million-dollar smile and replied: “Don’t hold your breath.”

I got to be physical with some of the hottest guys in Hollywood," she gushed to People. "When Fassbender slammed my head into the wall, that's the only time I went black.

"And then I slammed a vase right into his face when he wasn't expecting it. He didn't get cut, maybe a little bit."

Movie Still: Haywire

Michael Fassbender and Gina Carano in Haywire

Haywire is a very solid and well-crafted contribution to the spy genre, with a smart and complex script from Lem Dobbs (who worked with Soderbergh on Kafka and The Limey). However, the film’s real fun comes from playing “Spot the Soderbergh Reference.” Filmmakers do not exist in a vacuum; inevitably they are going to borrow from another film or director at some point in their career. Quentin Tarantino is the most unabashed example of this trend and with each new Tarantino film myriad websites jockey to point out which movies he is paying tribute to in his new project.

In Haywire, though, Soderbergh has created an almost Frankenstein-esque amalgamation of his previous films. Watching Haywire is like watching a Soderbergh Greatest Hits compilation. For each of his international locations, Soderbergh manipulates the film’s color palette to differentiate the settings and emotions (Traffic). Many of the scenes, especially those indoors where the outside is visible through a window, are filmed with a soft focus lens giving the scene an ethereal calm (The Informant!). Soderbergh chose a female non-actor (Carano) who is famous in her chosen profession as his protagonist (The Girlfriend Experience) and tailored the part to her strengths. (He even goes so far as to re-create one scene from The Girlfriend Experience.) Most obvious is the music from David Holmes which is almost indistinguishable from the Ocean’s Twelve score, written by David Holmes. The list goes on.

Does this diminish the film’s overall success? Not at all. Soderbergh is clearly having fun behind the camera, throwing everything he can think of at the audience. The most impressive (and refreshing) aspect of the film is how Soderbergh chose to cut the film’s numerous fight sequences. Or, more accurately, chose not to cut them. In films like The Bourne Identity and its imitators, we are inundated with average shot lengths of less than one second, making it difficult to actually see what is happening. In Haywire, Soderbergh essentially sets the camera down and walks away. The fights are therefore so much more brutal to watch as we see every punch, kick, throw and slam with perfect clarity.

Which leads us to Carano. Having already dominated the world of female mixed martial arts (MMA), Carano easily assumes the role of ass-kicking special operative Mallory Kane. Almost like a 21st century “Man With No Name,” Mallory only speaks when absolutely necessary. Carano is surprisingly convincing given she has no acting experience prior to this film. Her cold stare is quite intimidating and she carries herself in a way one would expect from a Marine with years of experience.

Joining Carano is a supporting cast of absolutely fantastic actors. McGregor deserves a great deal of praise for his performance as Mallory’s duplicitous boss and the man every audience member will want to strangle. He is the perfect mixture of charm and smugness. Fassbender, who seems to be in every movie these days, is also terrific. We are never quite sure of Paul’s motives or what he is thinking and Fassbender betrays nothing with his constantly shifting facial expressions and confident smile.

Michael Fassbender: Takes a real beating from girl in Haywire (she's a professional mixed-martial artist (Wall Street Journal)

"How do you feel about punching a girl in the face as hard as you can?” asked director Steven Soderbergh.

“I think I’m ok with it,” said Michael Fassbender.

Soderbergh sent him the script for “Haywire” and Fassbender became the first of several males cast.

Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas and Channing Tatum soon followed. “Haywire” also stars professional mixed-martial artist Gina Carano who plays Mallory, an international black-ops agent and former Marine.

For Fassbender, McGregor and Tatum, being cast in the film also meant signing up for a beating. Throughout the film, each of the actors goes up against Carano in a fight sequence, with Fassbender’s being the most taxing. Although Soderbergh did use doubles, he said they were limited.

“These guys really hit Gina and she really hit them – hard. She put Fassbender through the ringer,” Soderbergh said.

Inspired by “Darker Than Amber,” a 1960s Rod Taylor film, the scene Soderbergh is referring to takes place in a hotel room. For “Haywire,” Soderbergh outfitted both Fassbender and Carano in eveningwear. They proceed to fight while simultaneously destroying the hotel room.

“This was the only time I was glad to be cast as the father,” said Bill Paxton, who plays Carano’s father in the film. Paxton, along with Douglas who stars as a government official, were the only men to escape Carano’s fist. “We were the old guys,” Paxton added.

“Haywire” is now playing in theaters.

Ewan McGregor Got Hurt Doing What to His Haywire Costar Gina Carano? (E-OnLine)

By Marc Malkin

For those not familiar, Carano is a mixed martial arts champion who makes her big screen debut in Haywire (out tomorrow) as a former federal agent on the run from assassins. The Steven Soderbergh-directed flick also stars Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas.

"I had a series of three punches, but the third one...for one reason or another I connected really hard on the side of her head," McGregor said. "She was the one who got straight up and said, 'Are you OK?' She was asking me if I was OK! But she was right because I almost broke my friggin' hand!"

Carano took the hit like a champ. McGregor laughed, "She was absolutely fine."

Brits At The Box Office: Ewan McGregor, Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave, Kate Beckinsale & More! (BRITSCENE)

Charlie Derry
From thrillers to vampires to an adaptation of Shakespeare, we have some great films set to be released over the next week which include some brilliant British actors. With Kate Beckinsale making it to the top of the box office from last week in Contraband, we see her turn to a much darker world in a new release with Underworld: Awakening, whilst there’s also a bloody battle ongoing between Ralph Fiennes and Gerard Butler in Coriolanus and the action-packed Haywire starring Ewan McGregor and Micheal Fassbender as well.

The first film to be released over the next week is Steven Soderbergh’s action thriller Haywire, which stars British and Irish actors Ewan McGregor (Salmon Fishing in The Yemen) and Micheal Fassbender (Shame). The film follows an elite Black Ops soldier, Mallory Kane (Gina Carano), who goes on the run and seeks payback after she is betrayed and set up by her superiors. Haywire is set to be released on 20 January, see if it is playing in a theater near you here and watched the action-packed trailer below:

British actor Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut, Corriolanius, based on the tragedy by English playwright William Shakespeare, is also set to be released Friday and we found out this week that Fiennes has been nominated for a BAFTA in the Outstanding Debut By A British Writer, Director or Producer for his work on the film. This adaptation also stars Fiennes (Harry Potter) as Coriolanus, a great Roman general of the 5th century BC and a banished hero of Rome, alongside Scottish actor Gerard Butler (Machine Gun Preacher) as his nemeses Aufidius, who join forces to take his revenge on the city. The adaptation seems to follow in the steps of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet from 1996, with a modernised version of Shakespeare’s play that retains the original dialogue, just with a lot more blood and violence. The film also stars British actors James Nesbitt, Brian Cox and Vanessa Redgrave and will open as a limited release, before expanding over the coming weeks. Unfortunately I was unable to find a detailed theater listing, so check your local theaters for its release and you can see the epic looking trailer below:

The Iron Lady also made it into the Top 10 at the Box Office after making $5.4M from its official release last week. The film looks at the life of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (played by Meryl Streep) in London in the 1980′s, showing how she smashed through the barriers of gender and class to make her voice heard in a male dominated world. Whilst the film was eliminated from the Best Film and Outstanding British Film at the BAFTAs, Streep has received a nomination for the Best Actress category, which she won at the Golden Globes over the weekend. British actor Jim Broadbent is also up for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Thatchers husband, Denis . The Iron Lady also stars British actors Anthony Head, Richard E. Grant, and Olivia Colman, and you can see where this film is showing here.

We Need To Talk About Kevin also did well last weekend although it was only shown in two theaters. Starring British actress Tilda Swinton (The Chronicles of Narnia), the film won best movie at the recent London Film Festival and is adapted from the 2003 novel of the same name, written by American author Lionel Shriver. The story is told from the perspective of Eva (Swinton), the mother of a troubled teenage boy (Ezra Miller) who embarks on a high-school killing spree. As Eva recounts the events in her son’s life, she must also attempt to deal with her grief and feelings of guilt by writing to her estranged husband (Jon C. Reilly). The film has also grabbed some nominations for the BAFTAs, with Lynne Ramsay being nominated for the Best Director and Swinton for the Best Leading Actress. We Need To Talk About Kevin will expand across California this weekend, see it it is coming to a theater near you here, and see what fellow BritScene writer Daniel thought of the tough subject matter and Swinton’s performance in his review here.

Michael Fassbender Vs. Ewan McGregor: Who Is This Week’s Hotness? (The Fab Life)

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Michael Fassbender and Ewan McGregor: Both incredibly sexy men from across the pond, both very talented, both can wear the hell out of a scarf, both get their asses absolutely BEAT DOWN by Gina Carano in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, in theaters this Friday. Sorry, that was a tiny bit of a spoiler, except you know they wouldn’t cast an MMA fighter in a movie and have her sit in the drawing room sipping tea.

Actor Michael Fassbender Deftly Dodges A JAMES BOND Innuendo (Comic Book Movie)

Source: InStyle

Speaking to InStyle Magazine, the current "it" Hollywood star fields questions about his rumored interest in James Bond and his work on Prometheus.

QUESTION: After Inglourious Basterds and X-Men: First Class, this is the third time you’ve played a special agent of sorts. Is Haywire really another covert audition for Bond?

FASSBENDER: "We’re sort of talked about it before, funnily enough, both in X-Men and Haywire. Both Matthew and Steven made references to James Bond. It was the look they were looking for: spies, espionage, this sort of thing. And I do think with Haywire, especially the scenes I’m in, there is something of an old-school 60s or 70s espionage film. I always felt that when we were doing it. But it certainly wasn’t something that I was seeking out. It just happened to be, that was the material and that was the job."
