Henry Cavill - Batman Vs Superman delayed until 2016

CONTACT MUSIC
by Bang Showbiz | 20 January 2014

'Batman Vs Superman' has been delayed until 2016. The release date for the superhero blockbuster, which will see Henry Cavill reprise his role as Superman alongside Ben Affleck as Batman, has been pushed back by 10 months to allow filmmakers time to work on the ''nature of the story''.

A Warner Bros. spokesman told Total Film: ''We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next superhero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever.'' The untitled 'Man of Steel' sequel, which is being directed by Zack Snyder, was originally slated for a summer 2015 release, but the date now stands at May 6, 2016.

Batman Backlash: Fans Blast Bosses As Ben Affleck Is Confirmed To Replace Christian Bale As Dark Knight

E.
BY BECCA LONGMIRE ON AUGUST 23, 2013

Batman fans across the globe have been left angered today as Ben Affleck was confirmed to play the lead role in the 2015 sequel, taking over Christian Bale in the popular flick and sending the Twittersphere into chaos.

The actor whose film Argo has received critical acclaim, will star alongside Henry Cavill who will resume the role of Superman in the sequel which will see both of the iconic superheros in the same film.

Director Zack Snyder also added: "I can't wait to work with him."

However, it seems like Batman fans don't share the same view as the director (to put it politely!) with them taking to Twitter to voice their strong opinions on the whole thing and even calling for a "petition" to stop Affleck playing the upcoming role.

One Twitter user tweeted: "Ben Affleck as Batman? With that retarded look of his? Wow Hollywood, you idiots." (sic)

Gerard Butler: 'Argo' will take the Oscar Andrea Mandell, USA TODAY

HOLLYWOOD -- Gerard Butler's officially in Argo's corner.

"Ben Affleck is turning out to really be one of the forefront directors of our time," said a tux-clad Butler at the Sunset Tower Hotel Thursday night before he picked up hosting duties at the Hollywood Domino & Bovet 1822 Pre-Oscar Gala & Tournament. "His movies are so watchable and so sophisticated and classy. I loved Argo. I also really enjoyed Silver Linings Playbook." But, "I think Argo will take the Oscar," he predicted.

Butler joined Paul Haggis, Donna Karan and Madeleine Stowe in hosting the pre-Oscars charity event, which featured a live auction and Hollywood-infused dominos tournament. The evening raised over a half million dollars for Artists for Peace and Justice, a non-profit organization that addresses issues of poverty around the world, particularly in Haiti.

Butler's personal favorite film this season? The low-budget wonder Beasts of the Southern Wild. "The movie that I found the most charming and original was Beasts of the Southern Wild," said the upcoming Olympus Has Fallen star. "It's hard to say what movie deserves an Oscar. You watch a movie like that and you look at the imagination and the artistry that went into it, and the performances by people who had never acted before that wipe the floor with myself and many other actors in this town. How can you have a winner in those circumstances?"

Benedict Cumberbatch is definitely not Khan in 'Star Trek Into Darkness': Alice Eve (EXAMINER)

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS FEBRUARY 11, 2013BY: MICHAEL SANTO

Despite rumors to the contrary, Benedict Cumberbatch's new "Star Trek" villain will not be Khan. That was made quite clear by "Star Trek Into Darkness" actress Alice Eve, as she walked the red carpet for the BAFTAs on Sunday (video embedded).

Succinctly, she said "He's not playing Khan."

Rumors have flown about the identity of Cumberbatch's new villain. There has been little clarity to this point. At the time of this writing, IMDB still lists his character as "Khan (rumored)."

Although it's been revealed that Cumberbatch would be playing John Harrison, it has thought that the name might be a cover. Still, earlier, Simon Pegg (Scotty) said the villain would not be Khan.

LOS ANGELES | Sun Oct 14, 2012 2:06pm EDT

(Reuters) - Liam Neeson thriller "Taken 2" won a battle between two hostage movies over the weekend, holding on to its top box office rankings for a second week with $22.5 million from ticket sales at U.S. and Canadian theaters.

Ben Affleck's highly praised Iran hostage thriller "Argo" was as close second, earning $20.1 million from Friday through Sunday. Low-budget horror movie "Sinister" came in third with $18.3 million, according to studio estimates compiled by Reuters.

Action sequel "Taken 2" stars Neeson as a former CIA agent who is captured while on vacation in Istanbul. The movie has pulled in $86.8 million at North American (U.S. and Canadian) theaters since its debut a week ago, plus $132.8 million from international markets.

"We continue to play broadly across all demographics and it is a testament to the strength of Liam's character and the property," said Chris Aronson, president of domestic distribution at 20th Century Fox, which released the film.

Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington, and Matthew McConaughey to Star in Epic 3D Film About Capture of Baghdad Casting Couch By Kate Erbland on May 15, 2012 |

True-life American military tales are gunning for a real resurgence lately – what with Ben Affleck’s Argo, Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, and the Robert Pattinson-starring Mission: Blacklist – and it looks like that means we’re not safe from a 3D take on such projects. A morning press release out of the Cannes Film Festival (oh, and heads up, get ready for a metric ton of these in the coming days) reveals that Freedom Films and Paradox Entertainment have made a deal to produce the “epic action pic Thunder Run,” based on the book “Thunder Run – The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad.”

In case that title doesn’t quite clue you in on the film’s subject matter, it will detail “the untold story of the dangerous and bloody capture of Baghdad by American Forces at the onset of the Iraq War. In April 2003, three battalions and fewer than a thousand men launched a violent thrust of tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles into the heart of a city of five million, igniting a three-day blitzkrieg, which military professionals often refer to as a lightning strike, or ‘thunder run.’”
