Rachel Weisz with Colin Firth for big screen Donald Crowhurst biopic on Devon coast

They're two of the country's finest actors and he's an acclaimed Brit filmmaker and now Rachel Weisz and Colin Firth are teaming up with The Theory of Everything director James Marsh.

The talented trio have been spotted shooting scenes for their new film in Devon this week.

Marsh is directing Rachel and Colin in the as yet untitled Donald Crowhurst big screen biopic, which follows the true story of Crowhurst's attempt to circumnavigate the globe in the 1960s.

The production has set up camp on the Devon coast for the first few weeks of filming, with Rachel and Colin, who play Crowhurst and his wife Clare, spotted in costume on the beach on Wednesday.

45-year-old Rachel was cast after initial discussions with Kate Winslet fell through, and the actress looked to be getting stuck into her role as the cameras rolled today.

The stunning star was in period costume, wearing a chic trench coat teamed with a green print headscarf and retro round shades for her scenes.

Leading man Colin, 54, meanwhile was dressed for the adventure in bright yellow waders, worn over a smart shirt and tie.

Marsh's movie follows the epic tale of Crowhurst who gave up his life with Clare and their four children to put everything, including all their finances, into the first Golden Globe yacht race.

The film also has a stellar support cast including David Thewlis as Crowhurst's press agent and Broadchurch star Jonathan Bailey, who is starting to make a name for himself on the big screen following last year's Testament of Youth.

They've both been busy shooting new movies on different continents, so Michael Fassbender was obviously delighted to be reunited with his gorgeous girlfriend on Saturday.

The 38-year-old actor was spotted kissing Alicia Vikander during a leisurely stroll around Soho, New York this weekend.

Making the most of some rare time off together, the hot couple could barely keep their hands off one another as they took a walk in the spring sunshine.

Alicia has been filming her latest movie The Danish Girl in Copenhagen, while her actor lover has been on set in California for his lead in the Steve Jobs biopic.

Tom Hiddleston Takes Acting Very Seriously & 9 Other Things His Nuffield Theater Q&A Teaches Us

While everyone in America celebrated the Oscars on Sunday, the film industry’s sweetheart Tom Hiddleston was doing a Q&A at the Nuffield Theatre in England. The small event was for members of the theater, (who can congratulate themselves on scoring quite a few fangirls as patrons, now) and was dedicated to hearing Hiddleston’s thoughts on acting, theater, and the arts in general.

I’ve always known Hiddleston loved all aspects of acting, but this Q&A really highlighted that enthusiasm. Although the event was closed to cameras or recording devices, thanks to several Hiddlestoners who attended, fans can read re-caps of the questions asked and what Hiddleston had to say about the arts. (And even without video of the event, all this is right in line with his general attitude towards taking acting seriously.) “Tom is seriously passionate [about] acting,” one attendee told me.



In fact, Hiddleston divulged that he initially joined the industry because it had essentially overtaken his life. “I slowly realized it had begun to take up all of my time,” he told the crowd. Although he focused on acting for the most part, Hiddleston also threw some feminism in there, referencing Emma Watson’s HeForShe campaign and reportedly saying, “Women and men should be allowed to be whoever they are without restriction.”

And as if that wasn’t wonderful enough, according to fans who were there, here is exactly how dedicated to the theater arts Hiddleston is.

He Doesn’t Drink at the Theater

According to Tumblr user l0kilee, who wrote an in-depth recap of the event, Hiddleston doesn’t get why some playhouses serve alcohol. “I never understood wanting to be in a lesser state of awareness in a theatre,” he said.

Truth is the Lifeblood of Acting

L0kilee revealed that Hiddleston found it hard to identify with Hank Williams for I Saw the Light, because Hiddleston couldn’t relate to Williams’ alcoholism. “I love my life too much,” Hiddleston said of why it was difficult to understand putting himself in that situation.

He’s Not a Method Actor

Hiddleston says he doesn’t subscribe to that idea because director feedback is too important for him to stay completely in character. But Tumblr user HiddleMemes says Hiddleston admitted he sometimes stays in his character’s voice between takes.

Michael Fassbender sightings in Bay Area as Steve Jobs shoot carries on, seeks extras

OK, who cares if Michael Fassbender looks nothing like Steve Jobs? Hotness feelers are out and tingling in anticipation of stumbling into the star in black turtleneck guise as shooting of “Steve Jobs,” the Aaron Sorkin-penned, Danny Boyle-directed biopic based on the 2011 Walter Isaacson biography, continues around the Bay Area. Yes, this is cinematic reboot at the center of the hacked Sony email upchuck/uproar that embarrassingly saw Sorkin allegedly griping to Sony/Columbia Pictures chairman Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin, “I don’t know who Michael Fassbender is and the rest of the world isn’t going to care.”

 Sorkin later came around, writing that Fassbender is “a great actor whose time has come.” Understandable since the actor has proven himself fully capable of heating up the shadows and turning on the nuance when it comes the most troubled or villainous characters, from “Shame”‘s sex addict to the “X-Men” franchise’s Magneto to “12 Years a Slave”‘s rapey plantation owner.



So Fassbender fans have been getting dreamy about running into the hunk as he hunkers down to chomp broccoli amid the crunchy, high-’70s hippie coziness of La Med in Berkeley, holes up in the garage of Jobs’ childhood home in Los Altos, strolls the bland office parks of Silicon Valley, or maybe even introduces a benighted NeXT product or two at Davies Symphony Hall. This week yielded a blurry yeti-like sighting at a SF cafe — though that grainy backside could belong to any ole “toothy-smiled Irish/German sex god” (as the F— Yeah, Michael Fassbender! Tumblr puts it).

Seth Rogen films scenes with Michael Fassbender on new biopic based on the Apple founder's life

Michael Fassbender has just begun filming his role as Steve Jobs in a new biopic about the Apple founder's life.

And he was joined on the set of the film in Cupertino, California on Friday by his co-star Seth Rogen.
The actor - who normally takes on comedy roles - is taking on the role of Jobs' Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the Danny Boyle-directed movie.

Fassbender started filming scenes for the long-awaited biopic earlier in the week, resembling the technology icon as he was back in 1984, the period in which the film is set.

And he was joined for filming by Rogen, who looked to be completely embodying Jobs' famous colleague Wozniak, sporting a full beard and typical 1980s garb.

He appeared to have completely put behind him the recent furore surrounding the infamous Sony hacking and his movie with James Franco The Interview, which depicts an assassination attempt against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old Fassbender looked just like Steve Jobs in a sharp oversized suit and bow tie, his usually-bearded face cleanly shaved for the role with his hair grown out and slicked back.

In the midst of filming, the actors were seen talking to director Boyle in the idyllic, leafy location, set near the site where Apple Inc. has its famous headquarters.

There was no sign on Friday of the film's newest recruit, Kate Winslet, who was recently revealed to be taking on the role of former Macintosh marketing chief Joanna Hoffman.

The movie has had a tumultuous birth, going through a long list of directors and actors before settling on the current line-up, with most of the behind the scenes turmoil spilling out into the public domain during last year's infamous hack of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The rights for the book on which the film is based, Walter Isaacson's biography Steve Jobs, was initially purchased by Sony, with David Fincher tipped to direct, and Christian Bale set to play the eponymous lead.

Hey look guys! Instead of getting Tom Hiddleston photos for my birthday, I got them as a Hanukkah present! Yay!

The magical Mr. Hiddleston was spotted arriving in Los Angeles last night after spending the past few months filming the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light in Nashville Shreveport. Hence the cowboy boots and guitar. And if you’ll recall Nashville was were Tom was filmed singing Christmas carols.

So…how do we all feel about cowboy-booted Tom?

Christian Bale the frontrunner to play Steve Jobs in Aaron Sorkin's biopic

It's been in gestation for some time, but now it looks like the long-awaited Aaron Sorkin-scripted, Danny Boyle-directed biopic of Steve Jobs has found its man.

Batman, to be precise. (groan)

Christian Bale is close to signing a deal to play the founder of Apple, beating out competition including Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

According to reports, Bale is currently in negotiations for another film which have stalled, allowing Bale to consider the role.

Gone Girl's David Fincher was initially attached to direct the as-yet untitled Jobs biopic, but dropped out due to issues over creative control and his fee.

Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin's HBO series The Newsroom enters its third and final season after the show was unceremoniously dropped from the station after a dismal first season and a slightly-improved second season.

Initial thoughts? Bale is a solid actor and he's known for total immersion in whatever role he takes on. He's never going to half-arse it so we can be sure that he'll be giving it socks.

Tom Hiddleston showed up at the Wheatland Music Festival in Remus Michigan, and gave everyone a treat by singing the Hank Williams classic, "Move it on Over" - and he's pretty good, just needs the strengthen the old vocal chords.

You can hear an excited dad telling some child, "Look, that's Loki from the Avengers!"  The dad sounds more excited than the kid.

Anyway, Tom will be starring as Hank Williams in the biopic "I saw the Light," due out in 2015.

Brendan Coyle: A Noble film for Deirdre (INDEPENDENT)

Filming for director Stephen Bradley's biopic of Christina Noble began in Vietnam this week and The Diary can reveal that producers are in talks for two offerings detailing the philanthropist humanitarian's career.

It's safe to say that a string of Ireland's leading names in the acting industry are on the cast list for Noble.

This includes Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham, Brendan Coyle of Downton Abbey and a minor role taken up by the ever-hilarious Mrs Doyle herself, Pauline McLynn.
