Exclusive: Benedict Cumberbatch Set for NBC's 'Red Nose Day'

ESQUIRE
BY MATT PATCHES

Benedict Cumberbatch

Clowns, rejoice: The plush schnozz is about to become Hollywood's fashion accessory of choice.

May 21 marks America's first "Red Nose Day," a live-entertainment event that recruits famous faces for a night of foolery and fundraising. Originating in the U.K., the annual escapade has raised more than $1 billion for charity over the last 30 years. NBC will air the first stateside "Red Nose Day," a three-hour circus of musical performances, sketch comedy, and new videos produced by Funny or Die. The shorts are often high-caliber wish fulfillment; March's U.K. show saw a James Bond-themed short film that paired Daniel Craig with Roger Moore.

Who should you expect at the show? Esquire can exclusively announce that Benedict Cumberbatch, Sir Ian McKellen, and Orlando Bloom will be on hand, lending acting services to whatever hair-brained schemes Funny or Die has cooking. Just because "Red Nose Day" is jumping the Atlantic doesn't mean the British aren't coming with.

Joining the trio on "Red Nose Day" are the previously announced Will Ferrell, Jack Black, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Michelle Rodriguez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Smith, John Legend, Matt Lauer, Carson Daly, Bill and Melinda Gates, Nick Offerman, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pine, Jeff Goldblum, Billy Eichner, Martin Short, Laura Linney, Anna Kendrick, and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.

FROM GREAT BRITAIN'S RED NOSE DAY, March 13...

Emily Blunt Admits Breastfeeding is Like Something Out of a 'Horror Movie'

THE STIR
by Lisa Fogarty 19 hours ago

Emily Blunt was, well, extremely blunt recently about her experience as a first-time mommy breastfeeding her cutie-pie daughter, Hazel. We're all so used to hearing only positive reactions from celebs who have chosen to nurse, and there may be a great reason for that -- breastfeeding obviously has a good many benefits. But let's be real. It can also be difficult. And strange. Especially if it's your first time feeling the sensation of your breasts filling up with milk and waking up in the morning to find that your boobs resemble inflated balloons.

The actress didn't hold back on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and shared exactly what she thinks about breastfeeding -- and how hubby John Krasinski is doing his part as a good partner to support her.

Emily told the tale of where she was and what was running through her mind the minute her milk came in. It was 3 a.m., she says, and she was sneaking into the bathroom when John woke up. She turned around and gave him the shock of a lifetime -- two "enormous" and "veiny" boobs that were like something out of a "horror movie."

John Krasinski takes wife Emily Blunt to see his former TV spouse Jenna Fischer's new play By SHYAM DODGE (MAIL ON LINE)

Smiles all around: John and Emily greeted a fellow theatre goer

It's only been a few weeks since the US version of The Office aired its final episode.

But the sitcom's favourite couple Pam and Jim Halpert had a little reunion in New York on Tuesday night.

John Krasinski took his real life spouse Emily Blunt to see Jenna Fischer make a dramatic turn in Neil LaBute's new Off-Broadway play Reasons To Be Happy.

John and Emily appeared to be enjoying the cultured evening out as they leisurely strolled to the Lucille Lortel Theatre in the hip neighbourhood of Greenwich Village.

Despite being married since July 2010, the pair looked like newlyweds as they doted on each other while showing their support for Jenna, 39.

Reasons To Be Happy showcases a dramatic turn in the television sitcom actress' career as she tackles the often challenging material concocted by Tony Award nominated playwright LaBute.

According to MCC theatre, who is producing the satiric drama: 'Reasons to Be Happy is a funny, surprising, and poignant new play about the choices and sacrifices we are willing to make in the pursuit of that often elusive ideal: happiness.'

The Off-Broadway production began previews in mid May and will officially open on June 11.

Emily Blunt: Michael Buble needed therapy post split with Emily Blunt due to his cheating Last Updated: Thursday, March 28, 2013, 14:13

London: Singer Michael Buble has revealed he needed therapy to get over his break-up with fiancee Emily Blunt.

The Canadian singer was devastated when his engagement to the British actress ended in 2008 but he thinks the way he dealt with it made the break-up the most important thing to happen to him, reported Contactmusic.

"When we were done I was devastated. I had to do therapy. I had to. I knew if I didn`t change I`d never be happy in my own skin," Buble said.

Gary Oldman, Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren, MOVIE, THE MOVIE (CINEMA BLEND)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=w3NwB9PLxss#!

  Author: Katey Rich

There are a whole lot of silly Oscar night traditions to choose from, from the opening song-and-dance to the Best Song performances to the "shocked" speeches from people everyone knew would be winning. But I'd like to add a pretty recent tradition to the list: Jimmy Kimmel's "Movie the Movie." The ABC late night host will have the prime post-Oscar slot again this year, and will be back with the parody that set the Internet on fire after last year's Oscars. Except, in the grand tradition of movies, it's not just a new parody: it's a sequel. Welcome to Movie The Movie: 2V.

Emily Blunt:She's the toast of tonight's Golden Globes. But in this startling confession the British star reveals how she thought her life was over at 16 By ELIZABETH SANDERSON Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook

It is her moment in the full glare of the limelight. And not only does she know it, but Emily Blunt believes – with much justification – that she deserves it.

Tonight, when she sashays down the red carpet at the 70th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, she will do so with all the verve and panache of an accomplished actress. For Emily has the confidence of a woman who knows she has finally found her way.

She is hotly tipped to win the award for Best Actress In A Musical Or Comedy for her role in Salmon Fishing In The Yemen – the romantic comedy about a sheik who determines to bring fly-fishing to his Arab homeland.

Emily is vying with some of the hottest names in the business. Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Meryl Streep are nominated too.

But if the tipsters are to be believed, it is the British girl America has taken to its heart who will come home clutching the Globe, thus guaranteeing her status as a bona fide Hollywood star.

For Emily – on the brink of 30 and happily married to John Krasinski, star of the US version of The Office – the nomination is confirmation that she has conquered her former fears of failure and emerged triumphant.
It is something that, 13 years ago, she thought might never happen.

Born in Roehampton, South-West London, Emily is the daughter of highly successful barrister Oliver Blunt and Joanna, a teacher and former actress.

Emily lived her early life in the shadow of her older sister Felicity and, as a youngster, developed a stutter. She overcame it in her teens, but still had trouble finding her way.

Hers was an intellectual and high-achieving family and at 16 she was desperate to follow her sister, who is 18 months older, to the sixth form at Westminster School.

But it wasn’t to be. ‘She’s very close to me,’ says Emily, ‘and I wanted to be like her. But I wasn’t offered a place and I remember thinking, “My life is over.” I recall reeling around the kitchen and thinking, “I’m a failure, I didn’t get into that school.” It was so awful and upsetting.’

Disappointed at her failure to emulate Felicity’s academic prowess, Emily began to lose her way.

Martin Freeman crawls out of his 'Hobbit' hole (USA TODAY)

SUSAN WLOSZCZYNA

NEW YORK — As Bilbo Baggins, the reluctant traveler at the center of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Martin Freeman survives encounters with all manner of Middle-earth menace, from rock creatures who burst forth from mountainsides and hurl giant boulders to a hygiene-deprived troll who mistakes our wee hero for a tissue.

It is odd, then, that during an interview, the British actor — who stars in the first of three films based on J.R.R. Tolkien's literary precursor to The Lord of the Rings, opening nationwide Friday — is thrown for a loop by a wooden stirrer that is topped by an ornate lump of rock-candy crystals.

"Is that sugar?" Freeman, 41, inquires while staring incredulously at the fancy utensil he just plopped into his room-service latte. "Is that a real thing here?"

Assured that the item is not considered a necessity in most American households, he looks relieved. "This is not part of Obamacare, then."

Such wit has served Freeman well throughout a career that began in U.K. sitcoms, including the original version of The Office as the prankster cubicle drone played by John Krasinski in the long-running U.S. knockoff.

For some reason, his Tim was changed to Jim on this side of the Atlantic.

"Are there many Tims in America?" asks Freeman, once again stymied by Yankee customs. "I don't know if I can think of many American Tims."

The specialist in awkwardly self-effacing Everymanliness moved on to features such as 2003's Love Actually, finessing a role as a shy movie double in explicit sex scenes who chastely falls for his female counterpart. The yuletide-set ensemble romance has evolved into a holiday perennial on TV. As Freeman observes, "People watch it whether they want to or not. It's become a new Wizard of Oz for Christmas."

Showbiz pals Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise step out on dinner date after filming scenes for All You Need Is Kill By LOUISE SAUNDERS (MAIL ON LINE)

They've been hard at work shooting scenes for their new sci-fi thriller, All You Need Is Kill, in London.
And Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise decided to toast another successful week of filming with an evening out on the town on Friday night.

The co-stars seemed to have enjoyed each other's company on set so much that they chose to grab a bite to eat together at Scott's restaurant in London's Mayfair after filming wrapped for the week.

Tom's look screamed Hollywood hunk, with the 50-year-old actor teaming a dapper charcoal grey suit with a light grey sweater and a matching shirt.

And despite it being pitch black outside, the star wore a pair of aviator-style sunglasses as he waved to photographers while leaving the restaurant.

5 Sweet Things John Krasinski Has Said About Wife Emily Blunt By Sharon Tharp. Posted on Dec 4th 2012. (YOUR TANGO)

The real-life Jim Halpert is just as sweet when it comes to the woman he loves!

John Krasinski may consider himself an average, goofy kind of guy, but I think I speak for all women when I say he's an absolute dream date.

Not only is the 33-year-old Office star ridiculously funny and super handsome, but you can just tell he's one of the good ones. In fact, one of the most adorable things about him is his love for wife Emily Blunt. While the celeb couple mostly keep their personal life private (take a hint, Hollywood!), John just loves to gush about Emily, which makes him all the more crush-worthy. He was on Today earlier this week and of course, couldn't resist telling Matt Lauer all about his lovely partner.

Here are 5 sweet things John has said about their relationship in the past:

1. On meeting her:
"It was one of those things where I wasn't really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I'm going to take my time in L.A. Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, 'Oh god, I think I'm going to fall in love with her.' As I shook her hand I went, 'I like you.'" [Ellen]

2. On their first date:
"[She was] incredibly intimidating. I was scared out of my mind to even go up and say 'Hi' to her. I think that I was so sure that I would never end up with her because she'd be like 'This is ridiculous, I can have anyone, not you. I was like, 'I'm going to blow it right away and then that way you don't feel bad.'" [Conan]

See Felicity Blunt’s Wedding Gown! 10/02/2012 AT 11:00 AM ET (STYLE WATCH)

Bride Felicity Blunt’s something new was something quite lovely: a custom wedding gown designed by Nanette Lepore.

For her marriage to Stanley Tucci in London on Saturday night (actually the couple’s second round of vows), the literary agent (second from left) wore a simple, sleeveless white dress with lace overlay and a small bow at the waist.

Her flower girls and bridesmaids — including sisters Suzie (left) and Emily and friend Amy Dixon (right) — also wore white Lepore creations, which somewhat mirrored the bridal gown through cut and detail. Lepore (pictured above) is a friend of Tucci’s, and the actor has made appearances at her runway shows before.

Tucci and Blunt celebrated their nuptials over the weekend with a Friday night party at London’s Shoreditch House, a Saturday ceremony at Middle Temple Hall and a reception at L’Anima restaurant.

Celebrity guests in attendance included groomsmen Steve Buscemi and Oliver Platt, plus Emily Blunt’s husband John Krasinski, Meryl Streep, Patricia Clarkson, Julianne Moore, Colin Firth and designer Kenneth Cole.

Emily Blunt 'clings' to British friends Sep 28, 2012 (GOSSIP SCOOP)

(BANG) -Emily Blunt ''clings'' to her British friends when she is in Los Angeles.

The English actress is now based in America - where she lives with husband John Krasinski - and while she is happy in the US she misses lots of things from home, especially the people.

She said: ''I still go back to London whenever I can to see my family. Also, quite a few of my movies have been filmed there, but I love living in LA. What's not to love? The weather's great, we have a nice house and life is good.

''But I miss afternoons in the pub, the sense of humour and the irreverence. There's a spirit to Londoners and Brits that I love, so I have a few British friends in LA that I cling to.''
