WILL ANDREW SCOTT'S ROLE IN JAMES BOND 'SPECTRE' DELAY 'SHERLOCK' SEASON 4? WE CERTAINLY HOPE NOT

After months and months of anticipation, all your prayers have been answered. At an event in England Thursday morning, the title of the new James Bond film was revealed, not to mention the cast, the release date, and, most important of all, the kind of car that the titular spy would be driving. All should be seemingly well, right? Well, it would be if Sherlock star Andrew Scott wasn’t joining the Spectre cast. Sherlock fans will recognize Scott immediately as the deliciously evil, deliciously hammy — spoilers ahead — recently mysteriously resurrected Jim Moriarty. Since filming for the Sherlock special doesn’t even begin until January 2015, the question now becomes: is Scott’s role in Spectre going to delay Sherlock Season 4?

From the start, I want to say no. After all, Martin Freeman has been filming The Hobbit movies and Benedict Cumberbatch has had time to film The Imitation Game — and they play the two male leads on Sherlock, so obviously their film careers have no affect on their ability to show up for filming. However, Spectre doesn’t come out until November 2015, with the fourth season of Sherlock to film “later in the year” — so Scott’s schedule is going to be pretty tight here.

At the end of Season 3, Sherlock was about to be exiled from England when he was immediately called back because Moriarty had hacked all of the television screens to announce his triumphant and inexplicable return, despite having shot himself in the head at the end of Season 2. From that, it should be assumed that Season 4 is going to be all Moriarty all the time — at least in so far as the actual threat that Sherlock Holmes will be dealing with for the three-episode run. However, that’s quite likely why Scott has time to film Spectre around his Sherlock schedule.

The cat is out of bag about the fate of Sherlock Holmes' famous villain.

The popular BBC detective series co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss spoke in a Royal Television Society's event last week and confirmed that Jim Moriarty is set to return in Season 4, as reported by Hollywood Reporter.

The so-called "consulting criminal" played by Andrew Scott shot himself to death in Episode 3 of the series' Season 2. It is unknown though what theory are they going to use to disclaim his alleged suicide. Gatiss and Moffat admitted that the "did you miss me" scene in Season 3 was not a last minute addition as they "had long planned the twist."

The producers also revealed everything is already figured out about "what will happen in the next season," though these plans will "get more detailed" as the production deadline draws closer, Hollywood Reporter said. The future of the show lies on the availability of the lead characters as both Star Trek: Into Darkness star Benedict Cumberbatch and The Hobbit actor Martin Freeman are busy with other film projects.

"There was suddenly a kind of outraged response that it might not be back until 2016 but that's precisely how long it always is. It's always two years! But we'd like to return soon, of course," Mark Gatiss, who also plays Sherlock's old brother Mycroft Holmes, told Metro.

Venice's annual confab will screen the only showing at a fest of the new Tom Hardy thriller, 'Locke' on September 2. Scott is featured in a top-billed role in this unusual, edgy thriller about a man whose life is coming apart at the seams. It's shot in real time with no breaks in the ninety-minute film.

We learnt back in April that Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer was set to play Sherlock Holmes's former lover Irene Adler in US update Elementary. And earlier this month we were told that the season finale would see Jonny Lee Miller's detective face a showdown with arch-enemy Moriarty, the man he believed had killed Irene. Then, just last week, UK viewers discovered Irene's secret – that she's not dead after all.

But now (right now, if you're still reading this) as the series approaches the climax to its first season, there's one more major twist still to come...

...Irene Adler is Moriarty!

Dormer's character will be unveiled as the brilliant criminal nemesis when she shoots one of her own henchmen in order to save Holmes's life.

Sherlock star shooting Dublin comedy (RTE)

Sherlock star Andrew Scott has joined Amy Huberman, Hugh O'Conor, Brian Gleeson and Peter McDonald in the new comedy The Stag, which begins shooting in Dublin next week.

IFTN reports that the film, co-written by McDonald and director John Butler, follows a group of friends on a stag party, with Dubliner Scott playing the best man.

Huberman plays the bride-to-be and the cast also includes Michael Legge and Andrew Bennett.

SHERLOCK star Andrew Scott has ruled out returning from the dead in the BBC1 crime drama.

The Dublin-born actor played arch-villain Moriarty, who shot himself in the head at the end of the last series.
Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) also appeared to be killed after jumping from a roof in the conclusion to The Reichenbach Fall.

With the brilliant Baker Street detective known to have faked his own death, speculation has grown that his nemesis might also have survived.

Earlier this month Benedict spoke about the third series of Sherlock, due to be filmed early next year. He said: “It’s nothing without that dynamic between Holmes and Moriarty.” But Andrew who won a Bafta this year for his portrayal, insists there will be no resurrection for the evil genius.

Moriarty is dead. As Andrew Scott, the actor who plays the arch-villain in BBC1’s Sherlock, has himself pointed out “It’s very hard to come back from shooting yourself in the mouth.”

Yet with a third series in the pipeline, the show’s star Benedict Cumberbatch has admitted “it’s nothing without that dynamic between Holmes and Moriarty.”

“I was very sad when he put a gun in his head and blew his brains out,” said Cumberbatch, adding that, along with his fondness for Moriarty, he is also “a bit obsessed” with Scott.

“He’s brilliant. He’s another person [as well as Martin Freeman] that when he was cast, it was music to my ears,” said the star. “I knew how good he was because I’d seen all his stage plays.”

Sherlock star Andrew Scott will head up an all-star cast in new ITV1 drama miniseries The Town.

Scott, who won a BAFTA for his role as the villainous Moriarty in the BBC's Conan Doyle reboot, will star alongside Julia McKenzie, Charlotte Riley, Gerard Kearns, Kelly Adams and Martin
Clunes in this new three-part contemporary drama.

Penned by Laurence Olivier award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett, The Town follows the story of 30-year-old Mark Nicholas (Scott), who returns to his hometown Renton after 10 years away and he is drawn into the life he left behind.

Julia McKenzie stars as his grandmother Betty, Charlotte Riley plays his first love Alice, who is now married with a child, and Martin Clunes is the alcohol-soaked mayor Len.

"Mike Bartlett is a hugely exciting new talent and I'm delighted that ITV has commissioned his first project for television," said ITV's drama commissioner Laura Mackie.

Good news for Sherlock fans - you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Andrew Scott, as well as co-creator Steven Moffat, in tuxedos on the telly next Sunday as they’ve been confirmed amongst the star-studded cast list for the Bafta TV Awards.

Cumberbatch is nominated in the Leading Actor category for his role as the detective, while Scott, who plays his nemesis Moriarty, will contest the Supporting Actor prize with Martin Freeman (as yet unconfirmed for the London event), aka Sherlock's friend John Watson.

Steven Moffat, also showrunner on Doctor Who, will pick up a Special Award for his services to British TV.
