Emily blunt saves Meryl Streep's life on Into the Woods set (video) Into The Woods movie clip

VANITY FAIR
BY JULIE MILLER
NOVEMBER 26, 2014 1:23 PM

Last night on the Late Show with David Letterman, Blunt revealed that she is getting sick of her characters being treated terribly by Streep, especially after the British actress came to the Oscar’s winner’s rescue on-set—while pregnant!—essentially saving Streep’s life. “She owes me big time,” Blunt said.

Blunt told Letterman that she even proposed to Streep that the two reverse power roles for a future collaboration. “I think at some point I should play the Queen of Versailles and she could be my lonely dressmaker,” Blunt said of her peer. After the audience applauded, Blunt continued, “I think it’s a great idea and I mentioned it to her.” Sadly, Streep did not seem as enthused about the power dynamic change-up. “Her response was, ‘Dream on,’” Blunt confided.

For more about Blunt’s collaboration with Streep, watch the complete Letterman segment below.

Emily Blunt Admits Breastfeeding is Like Something Out of a 'Horror Movie'

THE STIR
by Lisa Fogarty 19 hours ago

Emily Blunt was, well, extremely blunt recently about her experience as a first-time mommy breastfeeding her cutie-pie daughter, Hazel. We're all so used to hearing only positive reactions from celebs who have chosen to nurse, and there may be a great reason for that -- breastfeeding obviously has a good many benefits. But let's be real. It can also be difficult. And strange. Especially if it's your first time feeling the sensation of your breasts filling up with milk and waking up in the morning to find that your boobs resemble inflated balloons.

The actress didn't hold back on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and shared exactly what she thinks about breastfeeding -- and how hubby John Krasinski is doing his part as a good partner to support her.

Emily told the tale of where she was and what was running through her mind the minute her milk came in. It was 3 a.m., she says, and she was sneaking into the bathroom when John woke up. She turned around and gave him the shock of a lifetime -- two "enormous" and "veiny" boobs that were like something out of a "horror movie."

Colin Firth and Emily Blunt Discuss "Arthur Newman" (SANTA MONICA MIRROR)

POSTED MAY. 8, 2013, 9:36 AM

BEVERLY COHN / EDITOR-AT-LARGE

Co-starring Emily Blunt, the film explores the quest for life-changing decisions and takes the viewer through that odyssey.   When Colin Firth walks into the room, he fills it with his delightful presence and charm. Having won every conceivable award for his riveting performance as King George VI in “The King’s Speech,” including the Oscar for Best Actor, one wondered could he shake off that strong association.
Indeed he has in his subsequent films that includes “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.”
He does it again in his 360-degrees different character of Arthur Newman in the film of the same name.
Firth is a good-luck charm for in addition to “The King's Speech,” two of his other pictures have won the Academy Award for Best Picture – “The English Patient” and “Shakespeare in Love.”
Who could ever forget Emily Blunt’s performance as the bedraggled assistant to Meryl Streep’s hard-hearted Miranda in “The Devil Wears Prada” as well as her performances in subsequence films including “The Young Victoria,” “The Adjustment Bureau,” “Salmon Fishing in Yemen,” “Your Sister’s Sister,” “The Five-Year Engagement,” and “Looper.”   Written by Becky Johnston and directed by Dante Ariola, Blunt plays Michaela (Mike) who hooks up with Colin Firth’s character of Arthur Newman.
Firth and Blunt recently sat down with a select group of journalists to discuss their latest film and the following has been edited for content and continuity.
Is it easy to develop an American Accent?
Firth: No. But you focus on the character and that’s his voice. It’s not negotiable after a while. It’s who you hear and it’s not anybody else.
Did you go in and out during the shoot?
Blunt: We did unfortunately because we’re both Brits. Normally when I do an accent, for example when I did “Looper,” I was working with this little boy so I kind of stayed in the accent so he didn’t get confused, but I didn’t have a chance with Colin because we’re so completely British.
Firth: Your speech pattern changes. It’s not unlike working with a stutter in a way. It starts to find its way into your speech. Again, everybody’s stutter is different. It’s not a generic stutter. It’s this particular guy and how he expresses himself.
What did you find in the script that made you want to play the character?
Firth: It had a lot of unknowns for me. I read it and had a lot of questions. I liked the idea and was fascinated by the notion of ordinariness or apparent ordinariness; people who you could dismiss as ordinary or boring; people whose lives seem to be a series of disappointments and the potential for drama in what seems to be an unremarkable quiet life. That is something that I found fascinating – heroism not written on a big super hero stage.
Blunt: The script in general terms was just completely refreshing in how original it was.  It was pretty uncompromising actually and didn’t want to conform to being any genre or anything I could sum up in a one-liner pitch, but I liked the idea of the more we mask ourselves, maybe the freer we are able to be within ourselves.  I think the idea that at some point everyone wants to escape or run away or take on a different identity is something we’ve all felt. I don’t particularly think that these characters are necessarily crazy. I think they are just acting on that impulse. But, I just couldn’t put my finger on quite why I was so drawn to the script. I think that’s quite a good way in if you feel there’s some ambiguity there to play with.

Record Producer Clive Davis Eyeing Anne Hathaway and Colin Firth for My Fair Lady Broadway Revival By Michael Gioia 20 Feb 2013 (PLAYBILL)

http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/colin%20firth

Grammy Award-winning record producer Clive Davis, who plans to produce a Broadway revival of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's Tony-wining My Fair Lady, is eyeing Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway and Oscar winner Colin Firth for the show's leading roles, according to USA Today.

As previoulsy reported, Davis plans to bring the classic back to Broadway in 2014. He will produce the musical alongside Roger Berlind, Scott Landis and The Nederlander Organization.

http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/colin%20firth

"I always wanted to produce a Broadway show, and I've never done it," Davis previously told the Los Angeles Times. "I'm hopeful we will prepare and finalize everything this year to bring My Fair Lady next year to Broadway with a stellar cast. I don't want to jinx myself, but we're in discussions with two magnificent performers and a wonderful director to do that."

According to Davis, Hathaway ("Les Misérables," "The Devil Wears Prada") and Firth ("The King's Speech"), who would play the respective roles of Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins, were up for the same roles in a screen adaptation of "My Fair Lady," which fell through and made the rights available for a Broadway remounting.

Emily Blunt:She's the toast of tonight's Golden Globes. But in this startling confession the British star reveals how she thought her life was over at 16 By ELIZABETH SANDERSON Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook

It is her moment in the full glare of the limelight. And not only does she know it, but Emily Blunt believes – with much justification – that she deserves it.

Tonight, when she sashays down the red carpet at the 70th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, she will do so with all the verve and panache of an accomplished actress. For Emily has the confidence of a woman who knows she has finally found her way.

She is hotly tipped to win the award for Best Actress In A Musical Or Comedy for her role in Salmon Fishing In The Yemen – the romantic comedy about a sheik who determines to bring fly-fishing to his Arab homeland.

Emily is vying with some of the hottest names in the business. Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Meryl Streep are nominated too.

But if the tipsters are to be believed, it is the British girl America has taken to its heart who will come home clutching the Globe, thus guaranteeing her status as a bona fide Hollywood star.

For Emily – on the brink of 30 and happily married to John Krasinski, star of the US version of The Office – the nomination is confirmation that she has conquered her former fears of failure and emerged triumphant.
It is something that, 13 years ago, she thought might never happen.

Born in Roehampton, South-West London, Emily is the daughter of highly successful barrister Oliver Blunt and Joanna, a teacher and former actress.

Emily lived her early life in the shadow of her older sister Felicity and, as a youngster, developed a stutter. She overcame it in her teens, but still had trouble finding her way.

Hers was an intellectual and high-achieving family and at 16 she was desperate to follow her sister, who is 18 months older, to the sixth form at Westminster School.

But it wasn’t to be. ‘She’s very close to me,’ says Emily, ‘and I wanted to be like her. But I wasn’t offered a place and I remember thinking, “My life is over.” I recall reeling around the kitchen and thinking, “I’m a failure, I didn’t get into that school.” It was so awful and upsetting.’

Disappointed at her failure to emulate Felicity’s academic prowess, Emily began to lose her way.

Emily Blunt Tipped for Lead Role in Gone Girl Adaptation By Timur Moon: Subscribe to Timur's RSS feed

Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt is in the frame to star in the screen adaptation of Gone Girl, the macabre potboiler and psychodrama that was the runaway US publishing phenomenon of 2012.

The thriller, which topped the New York Times bestseller list, selling 2 million copies since last summer, has been memorably described as "like a Hitchcock rewritten by a mean Candace Bushnell" by one critic, in a reference to the author of the Sex and the City books.

Following the commercial success of The Hunger Games and the sensation surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey, bidding to secure the film rights for the summer's most popular novel was fierce, eventually going to 20th Century Fox for $1.5 million. Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn has been signed up by the studio to write the screen adaptation.

Initial speculation as to who will land the lead role centred on Legally Blonde star Reece Witherspoon, who has confirmed she is to produce the film. But her hopes of landing the part were dismissed by TheAtlanticWire.com, which labelled her a "chipper little sparkplug", adding that the role demanded "someone with secrets".

Emily Blunt is Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s November cover star ROSEMARY MAC CABE (IRISH TIMES)

Have you seen Looper? After a helluva lot of media hype – including a bizarrely confrontational interview that Joseph Gordon-Levitt did with Matt Cooper – I went to check it out on Monday night in the Savoy, my new local (I love those plush curtains!). I’d give it a solid 3.5 stars (I always feel like three stars is such a fence-sitting position). I’m not raving about it, like so many people are, but I did really enjoy it, despite Gordon-Levitt’s odd facial prosthetics. Emily Blunt puts in a seriously amazing performance.

Emily Blunt 'clings' to British friends Sep 28, 2012 (GOSSIP SCOOP)

(BANG) -Emily Blunt ''clings'' to her British friends when she is in Los Angeles.

The English actress is now based in America - where she lives with husband John Krasinski - and while she is happy in the US she misses lots of things from home, especially the people.

She said: ''I still go back to London whenever I can to see my family. Also, quite a few of my movies have been filmed there, but I love living in LA. What's not to love? The weather's great, we have a nice house and life is good.

''But I miss afternoons in the pub, the sense of humour and the irreverence. There's a spirit to Londoners and Brits that I love, so I have a few British friends in LA that I cling to.''

Emily Blunt: Felicity Blunt and Stanley Tucci are the picture of newlywed bliss at Boardwalk Empire premiere By SARAH BULL (DAILY MAIL)

They married less than a month ago, and it seems Felicity Blunt and Stanley Tucci are still very much in the honeymoon stage of their relationship.

The pair looked the picture of newlywed bliss as they cuddled up at the Boardwalk Empire season three premiere event in New York on Wednesday night.

Felicity, 31, looked elegant in her purple dress, which she teamed with a metallic clutch bag and kitten heel sandals, while 51-year-old Tucci looked dapper in his grey suit and black tie.

The couple were first introduced by Felicity's sister, and Tucci's Devil Wears Prada co-star, Emily Blunt.

'Emily loved Stanley on the set of Devil, and just thought they would hit it off, so she set them up.'

Tucci then confirmed at a New York screening of new Meryl Streep film Hope Springs last month that the pair had wed in secret, but were planning a more formal ceremony at a later stage.

Felicity and Tucci's marriage comes more than two years after the actor's first wife Kate lost her battle to cancer in April 2009.
