Adele: ‘Rolling’ with the Stones?!?! BY SEAN BORG (BRITISH WEEKLY)
I hear the Rolling Stones are planning to pull in a string of top female vocalists for their July 6 show in London’s Hyde Park with superstar singer Adele at the top of Mick Jagger’s wish list.
A source said the wheels are in motion to make Adele the big-name guest on the bill – if she can be persuaded to appear.
The source said: “The Stones would love to get Adele on with them. It would be a massive coup, even for them, because she’s been a bit reclusive since her son Angelo James was born.
“She is the name they want to announce as their special guest – and their invite should be special enough to get her out on stage.
“At the minute it’s 50/50 that she’ll do it, but Mick is quietly confident he can pull it off. They want to make the Hyde Park shows a highlight of their tour, and her appearing would make it really special.”

Benedict Cumberbatch reveals carjack scarring (ENTERTAINMENT IE.)
Benedict Cumberbatch is scarred from his carjacking horror.
The actor was in South Africa filming TV series 'To the Ends of the Earth' in 2000 when he and two co-stars were carjacked and held hostage in the execution position with a duvet over their heads.
They were eventually released in the night and managed to escape to find help at a truck stop shop - but he still bears the scars from the trauma.
Talking to the Mail on Sunday newspaper's Event magazine, e said: ''[When we were held captive] I had this realisation that it doesn't matter how loved you are in your life, you die on your own.
''I've still got a scar [on my inner wrist] from where I was tied up. It was terrifying. The next morning I woke up as a free man with the sun on my face and I cried. I thought I'd never feel his warmth again.''
Five years later, the 'Star Trek Into Darkness' star again found himself in a horrifying situation, travelling by bus into London on the day of the 7/7 bombings, a series of suicide bomb attacks attempted across the city on public transport.
He revealed: ''Everyone on my bus was in a state of panic. They had heard about the bomb on the other bus across London in Tavistock Square and started running over each other.

Matthew Macfadyen - Ripper Street Offers Brand New Challenges for Matthew Macfadyen 20 January 2013 (CONTACT MUSIC)
Ripper Street Offers Brand New Challenges for Matthew Macfadyen
BBC America’s Ripper Street – a period series about a cop, tasked with solving crimes in 19th century London, post Jack the Ripper – premiered last night on BBC America.
Marking the occasion, Ripper Street star Matthew Macfadyen discussed the experience of working on the show and getting under the skin of his character and choosing to do a long-term project like the series. For New York Daily News Macfadyen explained that as an actor, he often feels the stress of not being offered work, and then at some point the scripts simply start to pour: “[W]hen the phone doesn’t ring for three weeks, you start thinking, ‘My God, I’ll never work again.’” For him, a long-term contract for a series offered some security in a profession, where stability is inherently lacking.

British roots of stars Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor published Robin Turner, WalesOnline Jan 4 2013
The British roots of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars including Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor have been published online for the first time.
Millions of United States census records are included in the collection, detailing British actors and actresses who moved to the US during the golden age of movies.
The 1940 US Federal Census Records, now being published by family history website Ancestry.co.uk, includes the names of Elizabeth Taylor, born in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London and Port Talbot’s Richard Burton.
The files also include London born Alfred Hitchcock, currently being played in a biopic of his life by another Port Talbot actor, Sir Anthony Hopkins, who moved to the US to direct some of the best-known films of all time, such as Psycho and The Birds.

Showbiz pals Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise step out on dinner date after filming scenes for All You Need Is Kill By LOUISE SAUNDERS (MAIL ON LINE)
They've been hard at work shooting scenes for their new sci-fi thriller, All You Need Is Kill, in London.
And Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise decided to toast another successful week of filming with an evening out on the town on Friday night.
The co-stars seemed to have enjoyed each other's company on set so much that they chose to grab a bite to eat together at Scott's restaurant in London's Mayfair after filming wrapped for the week.
Tom's look screamed Hollywood hunk, with the 50-year-old actor teaming a dapper charcoal grey suit with a light grey sweater and a matching shirt.
And despite it being pitch black outside, the star wore a pair of aviator-style sunglasses as he waved to photographers while leaving the restaurant.

Livia Firth's travelling life The green entrepreneur Livia Firth reflects on her love of simple safaris and romantic escapes with husband Colin. (TRAVELING LIFE)
Interview by Lisa Grainger 6:45AM GMT 30 Nov 2012
Livia Firth is the creative director of Eco Age , a business that helps people live a more energy-efficient life, and the director of Brightwide.com , an online film festival that streams social and political cinema. A Doctor of Humanities, she lives in London with her husband (the actor Colin Firth) and two children.
How often do you travel?
Every school holidays, so probably five times a year, mostly to my house in Umbria. I love everything there, from the landscape to the food. It’s simple, calm and relaxing – a contrast to our life in London, where we’re always on the run.
Where in the world would you return?
A Kenyan camp called Rekero in the Masai Mara, where we went with our friend and guide, Tim Melesi.
Do you like adventure holidays?
I like nature, but I hate posh safari camps, where it’s rough and wild outside but luxurious and separate from local life inside. We like travelling with Tim partly because it is just us and his Jeep. You feel you’re the only people who have ever seen that giraffe. Once we spent all day watching a leopard that had killed a wildebeest and taken it up a tree; the kids were mesmerised. We have what they call in Italy mal d’Africa – when you are away from it, you long to go back.
Where would you like to go next?
Vietnam and Cambodia. I’ve seen both countries in movies, and spotted a hotel in Mr and Mrs Smith – a guide we like – that looks incredible.
Are you a lover of luxury or simplicity?
Luxury when I work; when you are busy, it’s nice to be somewhere efficient and comfortable. On holiday I’m drawn to simple things, not fuss
Livia Firth is a global ambassador for Oxfam.

Emily Blunt 'clings' to British friends Sep 28, 2012 (GOSSIP SCOOP)
(BANG) -Emily Blunt ''clings'' to her British friends when she is in Los Angeles.
The English actress is now based in America - where she lives with husband John Krasinski - and while she is happy in the US she misses lots of things from home, especially the people.
She said: ''I still go back to London whenever I can to see my family. Also, quite a few of my movies have been filmed there, but I love living in LA. What's not to love? The weather's great, we have a nice house and life is good.
''But I miss afternoons in the pub, the sense of humour and the irreverence. There's a spirit to Londoners and Brits that I love, so I have a few British friends in LA that I cling to.''

5 Great Movies About London By Petulia Melideo of CONTEXT TRAVEL (THE DAILY TRAVELER)
Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady
British cinematic heritage dates back to 1889, when English inventor William Friese Greene created the first moving pictures on celluloid film. Over the years, award-winning films, actors, directors, and locations (London in particular) have helped keep the UK in the spotlight. Here are five films that showcase London's beauty and unexpected corners of British culture.
Somers Town
This unique story about a friendship between two boys takes place in London, around the time of the construction of the chunnel and the launch of the first Eurostar train (disclaimer: the movie was partially funded by Eurostar). Even so, it’s a delightful portrait of cross-cultural friendship in London that goes from ugly (Somers Town is still a less-than-idyllic neighborhood) to a joyful playground for Tomo and Marek, the main characters. It's worth watching to see the area around St. Pancras before its overhaul in 2007.
My Beautiful Laundrette
A very young Daniel Day-Lewis puts on the hat of a troubled Londoner divided between his childhood friends—a group of lazy skinheads—and his love for a first generation Anglo-Pakistani man who is eager to change his fortune. The story is set during the ‘80s, at a time when England was struggling with the Thatcher government and social and racial tensions were high.

Elizabeth McGovern: Playing an American Living in England not such a stretch (USA Today)
Actress Elizabeth McGovern on the twists of fate that transported her career (and family life) to England. Her British husband may not be an aristocrat, but otherwise, Elizabeth McGovern says, playing an American living in England in the oh-so-English PBS period series Downton Abbey is a practically a slam-dunk for the actress.
“I’m living in a world that wasn’t my own growing up,” says the L.A. native, who has lived in London for 18 years. She has two teenage daughters with director Simon Curtis.
We asked her about the expat life and more:
How hard was it to move abroad?
“It was traumatic. I was making three life-changing decisions at once. I was pregnant, getting married and changing countries. I was also sort of abandoning my career. But I never thought twice about it. I have no regrets.”
What do you wish you knew at 20?
“When I was younger, the effort to seduce or engage the male was much more prevalent. I viewed women as competitors. I was very awkward and socially much more self-conscious. I judged myself much more.”

London takes a starring role in boom for UK movie-makers
Dustin Hoffman directs Maggie Smith
By Miranda Bryant and Louise Jury
London is at the centre of a boom for British film with nine major movies in production.
Industry experts say film-making in the capital is healthier than ever, with studios heaving, casting agencies busy and some film companies having to find alternative locations because London is so full. And contrary to fears that the industry would suffer because of public spending cutbacks, the Government announced yesterday that film tax relief is being extended for the next four years.
Six films are being shot in the capital, bringing in millions of pounds of revenue. They are the Bond movie Skyfall starring Daniel Craig; Snow White And The Huntsman with Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron; Anna Karenina with Keira Knightley, World War Z starring Brad Pitt, Quartet with Dame Maggie Smith, and Great Expectations, starring Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter.
Three more titles - Wrath Of The Titans, Dark Shadows and 47 Ronin - are in post-production here. London is the third busiest production city in the world, after New York and Los Angeles, with an average 35 crews on the streets every day.
Adrian Wootton, chief executive of Film London, said it was not only good news for the industry, but also the city's economy, tourism industry and jobs market.
He added: "Film London has worked hard to ensure film-makers across the world know that London can, and does, deliver for projects big and small. London has a great wealth of amazing locations, some of the world's best talent and facilities and a commitment from over 250 organisations, agencies and boroughs to welcome filming.
"This is why Hollywood A-listers such as Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Daniel Craig have recently been shooting here." The move on tax relief was welcomed by Lord Grade of Yarmouth, chairman of Pinewood Shepperton plc, as one that would "deliver certainty" for UK film-makers and "provide the platform for growth, investment and jobs".
Spending on UK film production hit a record £1.1billion last year, with 75 per cent focused on London and the South-East. Revenue was also generated from associated spending and tourism. Mayor Boris Johnson has praised the industry for generating more than £575million for London in the first six months of this year.
Pinewood Studios - where Snow White And The Huntsman and Skyfall are in production - saw film revenues rise by 68 per cent for the six months to June 30, to £18.2million. Leading agency Mad Dog Casting said business has gone up almost threefold in a year. Head of casting Kate McLaughlin said: "All the studios are jammed and people are being forced to go to other countries to film as it's so busy."

Property from Keira Knightley film London Boulevard for sale
FindaProperty.com loves nothing more than settling in to watch the latest crime caper movie. And it’s even better if said flick features some tasty property shots. Good news for us then, that the posh West London gaff where Keira Knightley was “minded” by Colin Farrell in 2010′s British geezer film London Boulevard is now up for sale.

For those who haven’t yet seen the film, Knightley’s Charlotte is an uber famous starlette who hides out in her West London home (Holland Park in the film, but Notting Hill in real life) and hires Mitchell (Farrell), an East London ex-con, to protect her from the aggressive paps who harangue her every turn. Oh, and the film, also starring Ray Winstone, comes over a bit The Bodyguard in parts if you know what we mean.
The two bedroom Botts Mews flat, which was used to depict part of Charlotte’s home in the film and in which, erm, Mitchell well … actually we’d rather not say (far be it from us to be the spoiler), is now on sale through Strutt and Parker for £550,000.
