In a joint appearance on the BBC's The Graham Norton Show that aired on Friday, Meryl Streep, aka the luckiest woman ever, got to not only share a sofa with Mark Ruffalo, who plays the green superhero in The Avengers series, and X-Men actor James McAvoy, but also watch them from a prime seat as they entertained her, and the world, by riding unicycles. The Oscar-winning actress appeared astonished, and maybe a little, well, freaked out...especially when the latter star took a spill onstage.

McAvoy is set to star in a revival of the British comedy play The Ruling Class in London's West End, starting on Jan. 16. The Scottish star said on The Graham Norton Show that his character has to ride a unicycle on stage. Host Graham Norton talked about how Ruffalo, who stars in the new movie Foxcatcher, had demonstrated his unicycle-riding skills during a previous appearance on the program in 2014.

"How do you know how to do that?" Streep asked Ruffalo.

"I wanted to be a clown," the actor replied. "That was my dream."

Downton Abbey's Christmas special: "You’ll have a lump in your throat, but in a very nice way"

"Heartwarming" and "nice". We like the sound of those words being used to describe the Downton Abbey Christmas special.

After one romantic, one traumatising and one frankly rather boring Christmas episode we don't quite know what to expect when the ITV period drama returns to our screens this Christmas Day. We know Julian Fellowes isn't afraid of spilling blood on December 25th and with the ominous way the fifth series ended, our minds have been running wild with possibilities, both nice and not so.

But thankfully Hugh Bonneville, who plays lord of the manor Robert Crawley, has put some of our worries to rest. Talking about the festive, feature-length installment, Bonneville disclosed it will be "very heart-warming."

"You'll have a lump in your throat, but in a very nice way," he added, talking on tomorrow's Graham Norton Show.

Benedict Cumberbatch can't hide his astonishment as he comes face-to-face with his very own waxwork

This week he was honoured with his very own waxwork at Madame Tussaud's in London and Benedict Cumberbatch couldn't hide his astonishment when he saw it firsthand.

The 38-year-old actor was greeted with the figure when he was taping an appearance on BBC's The Graham Norton Show and made sure to examine it thoroughly while looking utterly bemused.

Benedict even adopted an identical pose to his doppelganager to allow Graham, fellow guests Miranda Hart, Timothy Spall, and Adam Levine and the audience to see the similarities for themselves.

David Tennant, Matt Smith: Emma Thompson reveals she would have loved to play a female Doctor Who

Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson revealed she would have jumped at the chance to play the Doctor in the long-running BBC series.

On tonight's The Graham Norton Show, Thompson denied speculation that she was offered the role that was given to The Thick of It actor Peter Capaldi.

Appearing alongside Matt Smith and David Tennant, she said: “I would have said yes, I’d have loved to have played Doctor Who.

"Maybe women need their own kind of new time travelling person?"

On the upcoming 50th anniversary episode The Day of the Doctor, the tenth Doctor David Tennant and eleventh Time Lord Matt Smith remained tight-lipped about the plot.

They only revealed that Capaldi, who is set to play the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor, will not be in tomorrow's episode.

According to Matt: "Peter joins at Christmas."

David also added that he didn't need any persuading to appear in the special.

Benedict Cumberbatch Stunned By Harrison Ford Praise

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch had "a moment" while taping a recent episode of a British chat show when his hero Harrison Ford told him he was a big fan.

The two actors were sitting side by side on The Graham Norton Show when Ford turned to the Star Trek: Into Darkness star and handed him a huge chunk of praise.

The Star Wars icon said, "I didn't get a chance to say what a big fan I am of yours... The Sherlock Holmes thing is amazing."

A visibly stunned Cumberbatch responded, "Thank you very much. Wow, that's a bit of a moment. Thank you very much."

The Sherlock star then stood up and quipped, "I can retire now, I'm going."

Benedict Cumberbatch to appear on first Graham Norton show

Benedict Cumberbatch will be among the guests appearing on the first show of the new Graham Norton series.

The Sherlock star will be joined on the sofa by Hollywood actor Harrison Ford, comedian Jack Whithall and musician James Blunt when The Graham Norton Show returns on Friday 11 October.

Cumberbatch is back home to promote his new movie The Fifth Estate – a biopic which sees him play WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange through his transition from little-known activist to internet pioneer. The film co-stars Daniel Bruhl, new Doctor Peter Capaldi and former Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens.

Michael Fassbender gets around - Filming “Frank” in Ireland, “The Graham Norton Show” and the BAFTAS (AMY ANDREWS - IRISH CENTRAL)

It was a pretty busy weekend in London for Irish/German actor Michael Fassbender, who left his Irish film set (he’s making Frank there with Maggie Gyllenhaal) to appear on the popular TV chatfest The Graham Norton Show, and take in the BAFTA ceremony and after-parties.

Poor Michael got an awful ribbing from Norton, the Cork-born comic and host who has made quite a big name for himself in the U.K.  Mark Wahlberg was a fellow guest (and an inebriated looking one at that!), and both he and Norton zoned in on Fassbender’s private parts which were on full display in his breakout film Shame last year.

Fassbender took it all in his stride, and confided that his mother saw Shame with a bunch of her friends at a movie theater in Tralee (he was raised in Co. Kerry by his parents, who own a restaurant in Killarney).
