Julian Fellowes "Titanic" on ABC

Coming in April 2012 is the new four-part mini-series based on the sinking of the Titanic. Created by BAFTA award-winning Nigel Stafford-Clark (Bleak House, The Passion) and written by Oscar award-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey, Gosford Park), Titanic will feature a whopping 89 main characters by following four separate, yet intertwined, narratives building to a dramatic climax. Dubbed as the 'television event of 2012', Titanic has already been sold to 57 international countries and is set to broadcast around the world at the same time to coincide with the 100th Anniversary, the centenary of the disaster.

Titanic is a four-part television drama created by producer Nigel Stafford-Clark and written by Julian Fellowes to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the world's most famous maritime disaster in April 1912. This multi-million dollar television event will be an extraordinary re-telling of that doomed voyage, cleverly weaving action, mystery and romantic plots before coming together in an explosive and unforgettable finale. As the story unfolds over each episode, it will set out to paint a portrait of a whole society, telling the stories of a wide range of characters, both historical and fictional, from every social level. Their narratives are developed and gradually interwoven over the first three episodes, each of which ends in a cliff-hanger as the ship begins to founder. The fourth and final episode will draw all of the different stories together and reveal to the audience who survives.

Liam Neeson Vs. Ralph Fiennes (NEXT MOVIE)

By Hillary Atkin

It’s been a couple years since they battled on screen in what became a huge blockbuster, 2010's "Clash of the Titans."

Now, real-life friends Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are reprising their roles as Greek gods in "Wrath of the Titans." Neeson plays Zeus, king of the gods; Fiennes is Hades, his brother and god of the underworld. These two acting giants first matched wits (and handsomeness) in "Schindler’s List," which scored them a ream of awards nominations and established both as leading men to be reckoned with.

Both were born citizens of the British Empire. Each has taken a different path in film stardom of late, with Neeson known for his recent man-on-a-mission roles and Fiennes renowned for his villainous turn as Lord Voldemort in the "Harry Potter" series. You might think the 6'4" Neeson would come out on top in a matchup with the 6-foot Fiennes. But you might be surprised.

Birth in the British Isles

Liam Neeson: He was born on June 7, 1952, in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, the son of a cook and a school caretaker. He’s the third of the couple’s four children, and their only son. Liam, by the way, is the Irish version of the name William.

Ralph Fiennes: Born on December 22, 1962, in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, he came into the world as Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton Wykeham Fiennes. He’s the eldest of six, whose siblings include actor Joseph Fiennes and director Martha Fiennes.

Advantage: Fiennes. He’s the eighth cousin of the Prince of Wales.

Sean Bean - "Hot N Cold"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wKhlL7IzvTs#!

Sean Bean: Mirror Mirror‘s Surprise Cameo Will Draw In The Straight Guys (CRUSHABLE)

By Natalie Zutter

In the lead-up to Relativity Media’s Mirror Mirror, the only male cast member who’s gotten much attention has been Armie Hammer as the sweet but conceited prince that Lily Collins‘ Snow White falls in love with.

But when we saw the movie at a press screening a few weeks ago, we were amused at the very end when it turned out that Snow’s presumed-dead father was a familiar face in the fantasy world: Sean Bean!

Despite its PG rating and candy-colored costumes, Mirror Mirror saves some jokes and winking asides for its older audiences, whether parents of squirming kids or young Millennials tuning in for Lily and Armie.

Making Sean Bean the dethroned king who — spoiler – is cast into the woods in beast form brings to mind his most recent medieval role: Playing Eddard Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Though the latter has like 200% more nudity and gore than the former, both are powerful men humiliated and punished for doing the right thing.

'Mirror Mirror' is anything but Grimm ✭✭✭ This fairy tale princess holds her own in a lively 'Snow White' reiteration (CHICAGO TRIBUNE)

By Sheri Linden,
Special to Tribune Newspapers
March 30, 2012

Encased in a coffin, waiting to be brought back to life: That's how Snow White spends a good portion of the folk story that bears her name. There's no such downtime for the princess in the snappy retelling"Mirror Mirror," a fractured fairy tale that occupies the divide between Disney and Grimm.

A booster shot of testosterone lends kinetic kick to director Tarsem Singh's visually inventive interpretation, without shortchanging the requisite froufrou or sugarcoating the story's dark Oedipal heart. The mashup can be choppy, but the fable zings along on the sharp comic timing of the cast, led by a royally wicked Julia Roberts.

The screenplay by Marc Klein and Jason Keller (a screen story credit goes to Melisa Wallack) pointedly rewrites the fairy tale convention that finds every damsel helplessly imperiled until a prince delivers her from danger. This Snow White (voiced by Lily Collins) can get gussied up with the best of them, but she also holds her own in a fencing duel. And — hello, switcheroo — she rescues a prince in distress.

When in exile, Snow (it's a first-name-informal kingdom) receives martial-arts instruction from the dwarfs. Like the famous septet from Disney's 1937 classic, this woods-dwelling crew provides sidekick slapstick, and each has a character-defining shtick — most memorably the love-struck Half Pint (Mark Povinelli). But they've also been restored to their folk tale roots as bandits and outcasts. They're action anti-heroes with hearts of gold.

Kate Winslet gets jittery about Titanic nude scene in 3D (INDIA GLITZ)

James Cameron and his cast and crew expressed their excitement on the rerelease of Titanic this Tuesday, which coincides closely with the one hundredth anniversary of the tragic sinking of the ship in 1912.

One star, however, has expressed some resignation of one particular scene that will appear in 3D for the first time. 'I'm not going to look, I'll probably be in the bar by that point,' Kate Winslet, who played the character Rose Dewitt Bukater in the film, said of her 1997 nude scene.

Kate Winslet is apprehensive about how her nude scene in the film will appear in 3D Now aged 36, Winslet claims it is not shame of her body that has brought about this embarrassment, saying she enjoys her physique as much now as she did at 21.

Winslet referred to the scenario as simply 'strange', and compared the experience to that of looking through a photo album of 'your former self'. Winslet is excited about the rest of the premiere, after having missed the original one.

Happy Birthday, Eric Clapton! Here Are 12 of His Greatest Performances (New Times)

By Lee Zimmerman
Fri., Mar. 30 2012 at 9:45 AM

Born March 30, 1945, Eric Clapton is considered by many critics and pundits to be the greatest living rock guitarist of all time. Living may be the key word here, given that Clapton held Jimi Hendrix in awe.

Clapton recorded Hendrix's song "Little Wing" a mere week before his friend died, and he was reportedly devastated by Hendrix's passing. Likewise, rock may be the other major distinction, because by Clapton's own admission, his chief influences were blues guitarists like B.B. King, Freddie King, and Buddy Guy.

Regardless, there are few musicians who achieved as much acclaim and drew as much reverence as Clapton. Little wonder that during his early tenure on the London music scene, he was referred to as "God" in the graffiti scrawled on building walls.

(His other popular nickname was "Slow Hand," not because of his speed fingering the frets but rather because when he broke a string during an early set, he made the audience wait patiently while he restrung his guitar.)

Liam Neeson: 'Wrath of the Titans' review: "A vast improvement on Clash" (DIGITAL SPY)

|By Ben Rawson-Jones

 Director: Jonathan Liebesman; Screenwriter: Dan Mazeau; Starring: Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Sam Worthington, Bill Nighy, Rosamund Pike;
Running time: 120 mins;
Certificate: 12A

It wouldn't take much to better the stale but profitable misfire that was 2010's Clash of the Titans remake. Yet the year's latest unwanted sequel, following in the fumes of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, is a vast improvement on its predecessor and contains enough epic visual scope and spectacle to merit your attention on the big screen. Preferably in IMAX and 3D.

Picking up a decade after the Kraken was sent packing to CGI Hell, Wrath of the Titans involves demi-God Perseus (Sam Worthington and mullet) plotting to rescue his father Zeus (Liam Neeson) and prevent hell from breaking loose. Their lives are in grave danger after Zeus's brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and other son Ares (Edgar Ramirez) turn against their relatives.

They make the Mitchell family in EastEnders look functional. So with the help of feisty Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike) and gormless demigod Agenor (Toby Kebbell), Perseus must venture into the Underworld, save daddy and prevent a massive fire-based bit of CGI entitled Kronos from breaking free. The group venture across breathtaking landscapes and encounter many perils such as a Cyclops and a Minotaur.

To the movie's credit, assured pacing ensures that the travellers never dwell in a location for too long and each successive set piece raises the stakes and the excitement levels.

Jeremy Irons was absolutely amazing in this movie.  He stole every scene he was in and was electric.  If you haven't seen Margin Call you should.  It is a dry subject - the beginning of the world economic collapse - but it is easy to follow and terrifying to watch.

Colin Farrell Won't Star In Arthur And Lancelot, But Project Moves Forward (CINEMA BLEND)

Author: Katey Rich

This is the second time Arthur and Lancelot has made a casting change, and by far the least dramatic. Last December up and comers Joel Kinnaman and Kit Harrington were set to star in the film until Warner Bros. halted production, concerned that the $110 million project was too expense to have unknown leads.

Casting Farrell-- and with the idea to bring on James McAvoy as Arthur and Gary Oldman as Merlin-- would have brought a little more starpower, and presumably that's still the route they'll take as they attempt to recast the role.

McAvoy and Oldman never had deals, so don't expect them to stick around as well. But hey, it's a nice fresh start!

Benedict Cumberbatch - Life story (NOW DAILY)

1976 Benedict Cumberbatch is born in London on 19 July 1976. He’s the only son of actors Timothy Carlton and Wanda Ventham - who played Cassandra’s mum in Only Fools And Horses.

When Benedict Cumberbatch's parents see him on stage, they finally back his acting dream. ‘My dad said: “I think you could do better at this than I’ve ever done.” We were both crying,’ he recalls. At first he decides to take his father’s stage name Carlton.

‘I assumed I couldn’t be called Benedict Cumberbatch. It sounds like a fart in a bath, doesn’t it?’ he admits. But in the end he decides that the name will help him stand out.

Benedict Cumberbatch is attacked in South Africa while filming BBC drama To The Ends Of The Earth in 2004. He's accosted by 6 armed carjackers and bundled into a car with a couple of co-stars.
‘I could see the headlight beams bumping over the dirt track and I thought of shallow graves,’ he remembers. Benedict’s acting skills save him when his attackers shove him into the boot. He tells them he has a heart and brain problem and will die. ‘A dead Englishman in your car. Not good,' he warns.

In 2006, Benedict Cumberbatch stars alongside Dominic Cooper and James McAvoy in Starter For 10, the saga of a college entering University Challenge. He knows he’s no poster boy. ‘My friend James is gorgeous on screen - I’m not,’ he says

2010 Benedict Cumberbatch's career reaches a new level in 2010 when he clinches the lead in BBC show Sherlock.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch: Fans fly from all over the world to see me on stage (NOT DAILY)

Benedict has devoted fans all over the world.

It's not just British viewers who've fallen hard for Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch. When the actor starred in Frankenstein at London's National Theatre last year, some eager fans flew halfway across the world to see him after the stage show.

'There were an awful lot of people,' Benedict, 35, tells TV Buzz. 'It was 12 o'clock, I was tired and I was saying I've really got to get home but there are people going: "We've travelled all the way from South Korea!"

Sean Bean dead again in Missing (ZAP 2 IT)

We asked Poirier if casting Sean Bean as Becca's murdered husband was a given since the poor man gets killed off in every show or film he does.

Poirier laughs, "I just wanted to see if I could kill him faster than anybody else. I'm trying to set a record. No, obviously we're not done with him. We still have a lot of story that takes place in flashbacks that take place over the season, starting in episode 4."

Ashley Judd kicks some serious butt in "Missing." We asked Poirier if she was always the first choice for the role of Becca. He says, "Every producer on every project from the beginning of time has said this, but it really is true. She was our archetype for this. She was our first choice. We didn't think we'd get her. She's notorious for turning down everything.

He continues, "When she came in we thought, we'll have our dream meeting and get this behind us so we can move on. But she really responded."

"Missing" airs Thursday nights on ABC.

'Game of Thrones' returns in fascinating form (PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE)

Friday, March 30, 2012 By Rob Owen,
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

So "Luck" didn't live up to its title, drawing too few viewers and too much scrutiny after three horses died on (or near) the show's set, leading HBO execs to cancel the drama after a single, little-watched season.

But the premium network will get its mojo back this weekend with the second-season premiere of "Game of Thrones" (9 p.m. Sunday). The fantasy-drama, based on the book series "A Song of Fire and Ice" by George R.R. Martin, grew into a solid hit through its first season, culminating in a shocking turn of events. (Season one spoilers ahead.)

"Game of Thrones" returns in fantastic form, reconfiguring itself after last season's denouement -- when young, petulant King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) beheaded the show's nominal lead, Ned Stark (Sean Bean). If the show has a lead anymore -- and I'm not convinced it does -- that role surely belongs to Peter Dinklage as the cunning, often hilarious Tyrion Lannister.

Colin Firth may star in "Untouchable", remake of a French Dramedy (HIT FIX)

Paul Feig may be venturing into considerably darker territory with his next film.

The "Bridesmaids" helmer is in early talks with the Weinstein Co. to write and direct a new dramedy entitled "Untouchable", based on the hit French film "The Intouchables", about a wealthy man who becomes a quadriplegic after a tragic accident and later bonds with his young caretaker.

What's more, Academy Award winner Colin Firth - most recently seen in Tomas Alfredson's "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" - is negotiating to take the lead role in the film, which sounds like some pretty serious awards bait. Could the actor already be heading for his second Oscar? The news was broken by Variety.

Could Emily Blunt, Emma Stone, or Amy Adams be the new Nora Charles for 'Thin Man' remake? (HIT FIX)

WORD IS THEY'RE ABOUT TO START READING ACTORS OPPOSITE JOHNNY DEPP

By Drew McWeeny
THURSDAY, MAR 29, 2012 5:40 PM

How do you kill a 42 year old fat man who is waaaaaaay too emotionally invested in what happens with a remake of "The Thin Man"?

You hire Rob Marshall to direct it. No matter what we hear about casting on this film, I'm going to be nervous to the point of irritated the entire time it's in production. I'll do my best to be fair, but the bitter sting of the awful "Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is still way too fresh for me to just assume Marshall will do right by one of my favorite films of all time.

No, scratch that. The "Thin Man" series is one of my favorite anythings of all time. It's right up there with things like fire and penicillin and indoor plumbing. Nick and Nora Charles are my favorite married couple in Hollywood history, and no matter what I think of the individual films in the series, I will take any opportunity to watch William Powell as Nick and Myrna Loy as Nora.

For those of you not familiar with the series, Nick Charles was a police detective, and a darn good one. Then he met the lovely Nora, a socialite with a huge inheritance and a liver that seemed to be able to keep pace with his. Soon as you could say "bathtub gin," Nick retired from the dangerous work in order to manage Nora's estate and they were married.

In the first "Thin Man" film, a family that Nick knows turns to him for help with the eccentric inventor father goes missing. He doesn't want to solve a crime, but Nora's so entertained at the idea of him doing it and getting to watch him work that she sort of goads him into getting involved. They stay pretty much non-stop liquored up, the most charming of charming drunk couples, and their dog Asta goes along for the cute.

It's a very funny film noir, created by Dashiell Hammett, the same guy who wrote "The Maltese Falcon" and "Red Harvest." While Hammett wrote a thick stack of short fiction, he only wrote five novels, and "The Thin Man" remains a work of almost singular inspiration. It's little wonder the film was so good… they stuck closely to the rich and funny book that Hammett wrote, and they absolutely nailed down the characters he wrote.

Rosamund Pike turns warrior Queen this week as she takes over the role of Andromeda in Wrath of the Titans (FEMALE FIRST)

We are use to seeing the British actress in the like of Pride and Prejudice and Made In Dagenham but this blockbuster shows that she can be an action heroine. Like many Brit stars Pike kicked off her career in TV with A Rather English marriage before going on to Trial and Retribution IV and Foyle's War. Her big screen debut came in 2002 when she took on the role of Miranda Frost in Die Another Day alongside Pierce Brosnan. The movie was a hit at the box office and went on to take in excess of $431 million worldwide, Pike's movie career was up and running. Since then she has mixed and matched her roles The Libertine with Johnny Depp to period drama Pride & Prejudice. Pride & Prejudice was a big screen adaptation of Jane Austen's novel and saw Pike place the oldest Bennet daughter Jane.

Luke Evans - Vogue

Theatre was his first love, cinema - a more recent passion. Born in 1979, Luke Evans belongs to a new generation of actors who was quick to win over the interest of Hollywood’s biggest names. Known to cinema-goers for his role in Clash of the Titans and The Three Musketeers, he has been quickly noticed by fashion houses which see in him the ideal image of the young, bad boy full of charm. Striped T-shirts, jeans and leather jacket are the staple pieces in his wardrobe, especially the jacket given that his secret wish was to be a biker. "I love leather jackets, I always wanted to live my life in the saddle of a motorbike but my mum wasn’t very happy with that…"

DOWNTON ABBY MEETS THE MEAN GIRLS TRAILER - PRICELESS

Dudes Love the Dowager Countess Just as Much as You Do (JEZEBEL)

PBS has released its ratings numbers for Season 2 of Downton Abbey and, to some mild and socially restrained surprise, viewership among the male 18-34 demographic, — the same demographic largely to blame for the Entourage phenomenon — jumped up 100 percent, matching the rise in viewership among 18-34-year-old women as well as 35-49-year-old men (the increase among 35-49-year-old women was almost twice as high at 173 percent). These numbers represent the largest ever increase for the "Masterpiece" series, with the 18-34-year-old women giving "Masterpiece" the largest (278 percent) bump over its previous average.

Male viewership is a significant part of that ratings boost, which ensures that Masterpiece programs are tapping wider audiences, and will no longer be relegated to the lobbies of bed and breakfasts across America.

One the rise for 2012: Domhnall Gleeson and others (INDIEWIRE)

It's hard to know who qualifies for a list like this, but we wanted to lean towards new faces, rather than picking out names you've likely been hearing a lot about recently. Guys like Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy, Benjamin Walker (the star of this year's "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter") and Joel Kinnaman (who will be the new "RoboCop") all have parts in big movies on the way, and will form the next wave of stars for sure, but these actors are right behind them. Have a look below, let us know who you think you could break out soon, and stay tuned for our look at the actresses tomorrow. So, in alphabetical order...

Domhnall Gleeson

Having a famous actor for a dad might help open a few doors, but there's plenty of celebrity offspring who never managed to make it last, let alone generate the kind of excitement that Domhnall Gleeson is whisking up these days.

The son of Irish character actor favorite Brendan Gleeson (and brother of Brian Gleeson, who's playing one of the dwarves in "Snow White and the Huntsman"), spell-check nemesis Domhnall starred alongside his father in "Studs" and Martin McDonagh's Oscar-winning short "Six Shooter" before picking up a Tony nomination at 23 for his Broadway role in McDonagh's "The Lieutenant of Inishmore."

Cuddly Butler: Gerard steps out in pink hat as he reveals beefier physique post-rehab (MAIL ON LINE)

Last year he staged something of a disappearing act as the weight fell off him. But following his recent stint in rehab for painkiller addiction, Gerard Butler is certainly looking a little more cherubic. The Scottish actor, 42, was spotted out in Beverly Hills yesterday sporting a fuller physique, which was visible through his clinging top.

According to reports this week, Butler shared a flirty night out with Lindsay Lohan recently. The pair were sighted at Hollywood's legendary Chateau Marmont last Tuesday where they put on a tactile show, according to People magazine, although apparently no kisses were shared. 'The two were laughing and telling jokes, and Butler kept his hands on both sides of her chair as he leaned in close to talk,' the magazine reported, adding: 'She was soaking up the attention and even asked him to come closer so she could whisper in his ear.'

Brendan Gleeson interview for The Pirates! In An Adventures With Scientists

Interviews | 29 Mar 2012 |

Brendan Gleeson talks about working on Aardman's latest film

With three movies out this month, Brendan Gleeson is one of our most in-demand actors. "So, how come I'm sitting here twiddling me thumbs?" he asks Paul Byrne.

Brendan Gleeson is the sort of man that you don't want to upset. Not that the guy is threatening in any way - far from it - but you can't help but imagine that he would be handy in a fight. Or on a rugby team. Or battling giant dragons.

It's more to do with the fact that Brendan Gleeson plainly has little time for fools. And sometimes, in interviews, I find myself being a fool. Letting someone know that their latest film doesn't quite work. Or that their new album put my cat in a coma.

Luckily, Brendan Gleeson also has a devilish sense of humour, a sly chuckle never far from his lips. So, you know, I might just be able to mention that film of his that didn't quite work. Thankfullly, it's not his new one, Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists being the latest from those playful plasticine pranksters Aardman Animation, creators of Wallace & Gromit, Shaun The Sheep, Chicken Run and Morph.

Based on the first of a series of comic novels by Gideon Defoe, this swashbuckling tale sees our highly incompetent pirates setting out to win the coveted Pirate Of The Year award. All seems lost until they happen upon Charles Darwin, who quickly recognizes that the captain's ungainly parrot is in fact the very rare, very prize-worthy dodo. Such a discovery would put Pirate Captain (voiced by Hugh Grant) on the map. And his motley crew off everyone's laughing stock list.

So, Mr. Gleeson, how does one prepare to play Pirate With Gout? "Lots of bad living," quips the 56-year old actor. "Actually, it was a very interesting experience. Wallace & Gromit is one of my all-time favourite creations, so, I didn't need to be asked twice, you know."

So now what happens is Buchan, who's the Ripperologist character, he gets brought in as a researcher, and he's down in the basement, in the archives, with all the murders that have happened in the whole of the United Kingdom, at his fingertips on file.

Liam Neeson talks 'Dark Knight Rises' appearance

With July 20 bringing "The Dark Knight Rises," the final installment in the Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale trilogy of "Batman" films, fans have wondered if Liam Neeson (whose Ra's al Ghul character was killed in "Batman Begins") would make another appearance.

ComicBookMovie.com noted that the production notes for Neeson's next film, "Wrath of the Titans," included "Dark Knight Rises" as one of his upcoming projects. CNN recently spoke with Neeson at the press junket for "Wrath of the Titans" to clear this up, and to see what Neeson knows about the film, which has been shrouded in mystery.

"I think so," he said. "I have no idea what the story is about. Nothing. Nothing. Seriously, I'm not sure if I'm still in it. It's a cameo – let's put it that way – if it still survives.”

Gerard Butler looks pretty pleased with himself…(MR. PAPARAZZI)

…could it be anything to do with canoodling with a certain Miss Lohan?

To be honest we’re not sure we’d be looking so pleased if we had got with her, she’s not exactly a catch these days, is sheAnyway, we spotted Gerard as he left a club in Hollywood sporting a very smiley face. It was reported earlier in the week that the pair were seen together at the Chateau Marmot in Hollywood putting on a rather tactile display.

A source said: 'The two were laughing and telling jokes, and Butler kept his hands on both sides of her chair as he leaned in close to talk,' 'She was soaking up the attention and even asked him to come closer so she could whisper in his ear.'

Henry Cavill: Bruce Willis has an unusual family vacation in action-packed The Cold Light of Day trailer (JOE.IE)

24/03/2012 10:38 am

Bruce Willis passes the action hero mantle down to his on-screen son - next summer's Superman - in the action-packed new trailer for The Cold Light of Day.

Though we won't get to see The Tudors star Henry Cavill don the blue and red outfit for director Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' blockbuster until summer 2013, we can assess his action hero chops in the new clip for The Cold Light of Day. Cavill stars as a young American who uncovers a conspiracy during his attempt to save his family, who were kidnapped while on vacation in Spain. Before long he realises the truth about his father's (Willis) occupation and before long, he's jumping, shooting and climbing like the best of our square-jawed cinematic heroes.

Alan Rickman: Harry Potter's Snape Could Play Ronnie to Jane Fonda's Nancy Reagan (FORBES)

Roger Friedman, Contributor

Yes, it’s true: Jane Fonda will play Nancy Reagan in a movie about the butler who served several presidents in the White House. Variety reported it yesterday because yours truly was asked to hold off reporting it for a day. (Won’t do that again.)

My scoop: Alan Rickman, the fine British actor known to children everywhere as the evil Snape from “Harry Potter,” will likely be Ronald Reagan to Jane’s Nancy. Rickman has a wonderful sneer to bring to his role.

PHOTO CALL: A First Look at Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean (Playbill)

By Matthew Blank
 28 Mar 2012

Les Misérables producer Cameron Mackintosh previously confirmed that the film version of the epic Victor Hugo-inspired musical, with songs by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schonberg and Herbert Kretzmer, will feature a new song for hero Jean Valjean.

Written by the stage hit's original songwriting team, the new number is called "Suddenly," and looks at Valjean's relationship with his surrogate daughter Cosette following her rescue from the Thenardiers. The movie version of the international-hit pop musical Les Misérables will be in theatres Dec. 7, 2012.

William Nicholson ("Gladiator," "Nell," "Shadowlands") penned the screenplay. Among the international-hit show's famous musical numbers are "I Dreamed a Dream," "A Heart Full of Love," "Do You Hear the People Sing?," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Bring Him Home," "Stars" and "Master of the House." Filming has begun for the movie musical "Les Misérables." Star Hugh Jackman shared a first photo of himself as Valjean via Twitter.

Hugh Laurie: ‘House’ finale: Robert Sean Leonard doesn’t feel Cuddy should (CARTER) return

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Syd9NXopU2I&feature=player_embedded

Dr. Lisa Cuddy has played a huge role in the Fox series ‘House’ over the years and since her exit from the show, the series has just never felt the same.

With the ‘House’ series finale coming up on May 21st, fans are wondering if Lisa Edelstein will return to the show and slip back into the role of Cuddy to help tie things up.

TVLine spoke to Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard on the set of ‘House’ and asked them both what their thoughts were on Cuddy’s character coming back for the series finale.

Laurie felt that without Cuddy’s return the series would be “incomplete” and that it was important for her to come back, where as Leonard felt the opposite. Leonard said; “I disagree…. I don’t like neatness. I don’t think it’s necessary to tie up every character’s story.”

Hugh Bonneville in 2012 (THE INDEPENDENT) I PRAY THIS COMES ON IN AMERICA!!!

On 14 March last year, the Olympic countdown clock was unveiled at a grand ceremony in Trafalgar Square. Less than 24 hours later, it had ground to an embarrassing halt, which became known as the "Olympic clock-up".

In a spooky coincidence, that very same evening the climax of the first episode of Twenty Twelve, a mockumentary about the fictional Olympic Deliverance Commission written several months earlier, featured an Olympic clock, which had – you've guessed it – ground to an embarrassing halt.

A (real-life) London 2012 spokesman was forced to release a statement saying, "It could be a case of life imitating art."

Twenty Twelve, which returns to BBC2 at 10pm on Friday, is full of these spot-on satirical moments. In fact, it could win a gold medal for prescience. This spoof fly-on-the-wall documentary, which won the Best Sitcom gong at the British Comedy Awards last year, tracks the confederacy of dunces who tie themselves in increasingly complex knots attempting to prepare for the biggest event this country has ever hosted.

The ODC is run by the hapless Ian (played by Hugh Bonneville). He is hindered by his gloriously inept team, who include the spectacularly un-self-aware PR chief, Siobhan (Jessica Hynes). It is entirely appropriate that the show's theme tune is "Let's Face the Music and Dance" (There may be trouble ahead...").

Clive Owen Goes For Film’s Father of the Year in "Intruders" (PHILADELPHIA WEEKLY)

By Sean Burns

Clive Owen’s daddy issues are getting out of hand. The tall, rakish Brit seemed poised for superstardom after his breakout role in Mike Hodges’ hard-boiled 1998 Croupier. Handsome with a seedy air of menace, Owen smoked a lot of cigarettes and chose his words carefully, sardonically purring quips with a palpable disdain for everybody else onscreen, and by extension the entire world.

We all thought he was going to be the next James Bond, or at the very least an international phenomenon. But Clive Owen’s career seems to have fizzled out, to a point where he’s turning up in a knockoff, secondhand thriller like Intruders, which, after premiering at last September’s Toronto Film Festival, is finally making a brief pit stop in our area on its inevitable journey to a Redbox kiosk near you.

As is too often the case these days, Owen gives a negligible performance, tamping down his natural gift for sly insinuation and instead trying to be the world’s greatest dad. The first line of every biographical article about Owen always mentions that his father was a failed country-western singer who abandoned his family when young Clive was only 3 years old.

While I usually hesitate to indulge in cheapjack Freudian explanations for why movie careers sometimes take oddball turns, there’s really not very much else to say about Intruders . Look at all the times Owen has played a nurturing father figure, even begrudgingly shepherding the last bastion of humanity in his best role, Children of Men.

He also baby-sat in Shoot ‘Em Up, tried to pass himself off as an ineffectual family man in the altogether regrettable Derailed, and then fumbled with single fatherhood in The Boys Are Back. And even though everybody else has, let us not forget Owen’s turn as the outraged father of a teen girl targeted by an Internet sex-predator in director David Schwimmer’s never-quite-released Trust.

Livia Firth unveils luxury line of clothing (Ecouterre)

Tinseltown may have rolled up its award-season red carpet, but Livia Firth isn’t one to sit idly by on the sidelines.

The Eco Age creative director, who’s married to Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth, has unveiled the first in a luxury line of clothing and accessories aptly known as Livia Firth Design. Designed with “love, fair trade rules, and environmental standards in mind,” her limited-edition skull necklace is the work of a small cooperative workshop in Devon, where artisans employ the ancient art of cire perdue (also known as lost-wax casting) to mold the individual elements by hand.

“LFD has, at its heart, simplicity and glamour and a little bit of playfulness, which should always be part of our life,” Firth says. Livia Firth (right) and Giusy Bettoni SAME CLOTH Firth is also teaming up with Giusy Bettoni of C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy), a global network of planet-forward textile showrooms, to establish the first Green Carpet Challenge Fabric Library. Bettoni’s expertise proved invaluable during Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge, which saw some of the world’s most storied fashion houses dressing A-listers such as Meryl Streep (in Lanvin), Viola Davis (Valentino), Michael Fassbender (Georgio Armani), and Kenneth Branagh (Ermenegildo Zegna) in an array of sustainable fabrics. Firth and Giusy Bettoni of C.L.A.S.S. are working to establish the first Green Carpet Challenge Fabric Library.

Colin Firth's Flight Back Home Has Unexpected Turbulence! Passengers Get Into A Scuffle (PEREZ HILTON)

All Colin Firth wanted was to get back home after presenting Meryl Streep her Oscar. Instead, he got front row seats to a passenger throwdown! The actor was with his wifey, Livia, and two sons on a flight back to the U.K. when two passengers got into fisticuffs over an alleged stolen item.

The fight got so intense that the plane had to radio ahead to London for security as no one could stop the two from going at it! (No air marshal?! What the what?!)

Colin was cool, calm, and collected, his only concern being the welfare of his family.

Tom Hiddleston: Avengers is incredible (FILM NEWS)

Tom Hiddleston says the upcoming superhero film The Avengers is “an all-time first”. The British actor is reprising his role as villain Loki in the movie about a group of heroes based on the Marvel comic book characters including Iron Man and Thor. He is thrilled with the concept of bringing together the different superheroes. “It’s a first, an all-time first to have a superhero film that’s not about one superhero that everybody loves but about eight,” he told BBC Newsbeat.

“It’s definitely new because it’s a team of not one lonely hero, it’s a team of them. And it’s not an easy team, there’s a bunch of pretty alpha personalities in there. You know, too many cooks possibly, but hopefully I’m evil enough for them to overcome their differences and save the world.” Tom, who last played Loki in Thor, also promoted the film as “absolutely monumental”. He believes all the hard work of the cast and crew has paid off.
