House star Hugh Laurie and wife enjoy romantic holiday after eight years living apart By COLETTE FAHY PUBLISHED: 16:55 EST, 8 June 2012 MAIL ON LINE

They spent years apart while he filmed his long running TV series House in the US so it’s no surprise British actor Hugh Laurie and wife Jo Green are making up for lost time now it has finished.

The unlikely heartthrob, who won a legion of fans with his portrayal of bad-tempered medic Gregory House on the TV show which ended in May, is in Buenos Aires as part of his world tour with band Copperbottom.

However, Jo was happy to come visit him at work and the couple took some time out to enjoy a romantic lunch in the city.

Hugh Laurie Gives Benaroya the New Orleans Blues by Michael van Baker on June 7, 2012 (THE SUN BREAK)

From the moment he strolled out onstage–no cane, unlike his House, M.D., character–Hugh Laurie had the Benaroya Hall audience firmly on his side, so it wasn’t really necessary, in a burst of Englishness, for him to soft-shoe over having the temerity to come before us to play music out of New Orleans’s history. (In another burst of Englishness, Laurie made this the first New Orleans blues concert I’d attended with a toast to the Queen in advance of her Diamond Jubilee.)

Laurie plays piano and guitar, but, he instructed the audience, the real musical thrills were going to come from the other musicians onstage: the Copper Bottom Band. They were the gleaming Rolls Royce and its throaty purr, he said, he was merely the hood ornament–throwing his arms back in the classic Spirit of Ecstasy pose.

If you missed the evening, Laurie’s New Orleans songbook can be found on CD; Let Them Talk contains many of the songs performed. I have to confess to rating his piano playing higher than his guitar, and both higher than his singing. It’s not that he has a terrible voice, but it isn’t suited to every one of these songs he clearly loves, and which often have been sung by the best.

Lady Cora rocks! Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern on her REAL passion – gigging in pubs with her barnstorming band By REBECCA HARDY (MAIL ON LINE)

A hip rock ’n’ roll joint in London’s Shepherd’s Bush is not really the sort of place one expects to bump into a proper lady. But here she is, the oh-so-genteel Countess of Grantham, slumming it in jeans and... well, let’s just say she wouldn’t make it through the tradesman’s entrance at Downton Abbey.

And as for that scary old baggage the Dowager Countess Violet – brilliantly portrayed by Dame Maggie Smith – clapping eyes on her... Carson, the smelling salts!

Lady Cora rocks. Or rather Elizabeth McGovern, the actress who plays her, does. And I mean she properly rocks. Yup, Elizabeth, 50, is a guitar-strumming, foot-tapping, lyric-belting rock chick. Which is why she’s here in west London’s Bush Hall, a favourite haunt of the likes of the late Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, REM and The Killers, flashing more flesh than a 1920s flapper girl in a skimpy satin top.

Later this month she’ll be taking to the stage at the Isle of Wight Festival as lead singer in the band Sadie And The Hotheads, which includes brothers Steve and Simon Nelson. Music, you see, is her real passion. And the Earl of Grantham’s missus not only enchants with her breathy vocals (think Marianne Faithfull at her finest), but she also writes the songs.

‘Sadie is my alter ego,’ Elizabeth says. ‘She’s who I am. I am middle-aged. I’ve been in a long relationship, I’m watching my kids grow up and I’m looking at the world through that prism – the joys, the frustration, the boredom, the despair and the philosophies that get you through.’

Elizabeth has actually been married to Simon Curtis, the brilliant director of My Week With Marilyn, for 20 years, and has two daughters, 18-year-old Matilda and 14-year-old Grace.

'Downton Abbey': Shirley MacLaine's fans get a preview By Hal Boedeker, Staff writer 9:44 a.m. EST, June 8, 2012 (ORLANDO SENTINEL)

Shirley MacLaine's career peak award Thursday night featured a preview of "Downton Abbey," which the actress joins in season three.

MacLaine received the 40th Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute. She accepted the prize from Meryl Streep, a previous winner.

But TV fans may be most interested in a preview of "Downton Abbey" supplied by Elizabeth McGovern, who plays MacLaine's daughter.

"As soon as Shirley MacLaine made her entrance in the show as my mom, everything became clear to me," McGovern told the audience. "Come back to 'Downton Abbey,' Shirley! I miss my mom."

Oscar-winner MacLaine said she enjoyed working with Oscar-winner Maggie Smith. "I saw Maggie Smith and I lifted her off her feet, because she's lighter than me," MacLaine said. "It was fabulous."

The third season of "Downton Abbey" will premiere in January on PBS.

Colin Firth: Hollywood stars film next week Rebecca Lynch | 8th June 2012 7:43 PM (FRASER COAST CHRONICLE)

FILMING for one of 2013's Hollywood blockbusters is due to begin in Ipswich next week, The Queensland Times can reveal.

Heart-throb Colin Firth, together with Swedish icon Stellan Skarsgard and War Horse star Jeremy Irvine will be on location at the city's railway workshops from the middle of the week, according to the film's publicist Tracey Mair.

But Ms Mair said that Aussie screen legend Nicole Kidman would not joining her male co-stars in the city, after having previously said all the leads would be travelling to Ipswich.

"Kidman's scenes were actually completed in Scotland, the UK and Thailand, but the rest of the cast, including Firth, will be filming on the Gold Coast and in Ipswich mid-next week," Ms Mair said.

Since The Queensland Times first revealed The Railway Man would be filmed in Ipswich, a major online news site dubbed the city an "unlikely location" for the filming of a major movie.

Movie Review: Prometheus Packed With Great Acting, Big Ideas—and Monsters! Today 4:27 PM PDT by PETER PARAS (E ONLINE)

Review in a Hurry: B +  Director Ridley Scott's (sorta) Alien prequel arrives with much secrecy, a stellar cast, and groundbreaking 3-D visuals. The sense of awesome is high. But the script by Lost mastermind Damon Lindelof unravels, starting out as a compelling "Tree of Life with monsters" to simply just monsters.

Then again, plenty of smarty-pants critics made similar complaints about Alien 33 years ago.

The Bigger Picture: In the year 2093, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and her hunky fellow scientist Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) make a discovery, the most significant in human history. Buried in caves throughout earth, are several maps leading to a location in deep space. Who made them? Man's creators? They board the ship Prometheus, off to find the literal meaning of life.

Director Scott hasn't made a sci-fi flick since '82 and that was Blade Runner—so no pressure. Yet his style of intricately detailed ginormous visuals balanced with tiny moments of suspense still impresses. Every lush image is matched with a thoughtfulness rarely seen in summer blockbusters.

The first half of the film is remarkable, as Shaw and the crew explore artifacts on an unknown world. Every step they take mixes clever technology with Big Ideas.

The cast is strong too.

Five Fun Facts about 'Prometheus' Actor Idris Elba (OH NO THEY DIDNT)

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus comes out this Friday, reminding us of the buzz that surrounded his originalAlien film back in 1979. Much like he did with that film, Scott has cast this science fiction piece with well-established actors including Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, and Michael Fassbender. Maggie Smith to Receive Stratford's Legacy Award (BROADWAY WORLD)

Dame Maggie Smith will be the 2012 recipient of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s Legacy Award and will be honoured at a gala at Toronto’s new Four Seasons Hotel on Monday, September 10.

“Here in Stratford, Maggie Smith holds a special place in our hearts,” said Artistic Director Des McAnuff. “One of our Festival’s founding principles was that we should be a home for artists of international stature as well as for our own Canadian stars, a principle spectacularly embodied in the four seasons Dame Maggie spent with us between 1976 and 1980. Her performances on our stages made an immense contribution to our artistic legacy and are still treasured in the memories of all who experienced them.

“As brilliant in her many celebrated screen roles as in her classical work on stage, Dame Maggie is known around the globe as one of the truly legendary artists of our age. It gives me tremendous pleasure to have this opportunity to express to her our admiration and our gratitude for the extraordinary body of work she has bestowed not only upon us but upon the world at large.

“Having spoken to her recently, I know that Dame Maggie is really looking forward to coming back to Canada, where she enjoyed so much substantial success.”

In her four seasons at Stratford, Dame Maggie gave some of the most memorable performances in the Festival’s history, including Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra, Rosalind in As You Like It, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Mistress Overdone in Measure for Measure, Queen Elizabeth in Richard III, Titania/Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Lady Macbeth.

Downton Abbey stars raise their cups for Charity Thursday, June 07, 2012 MarieCurie123 (THIS IS GLOUCESTERSHIRE)

The stars of Downton Abbey took a well 'urn-ed' tea break from filming series three of the hit show, to launch Marie Curie Cancer Care's Blooming Great Tea Party. The cast of servants, including new characters Cara Theobold and Matt Milne, enjoyed putting their feet up and having a cuppa in aid of charity.

Jim Carter who plays Butler Charles Carson said: "What could be more Downton Abbey than a good British tea party?  We rather enjoyed having a break from serving the Earl and Countess of Grantham! We're encouraging everyone to do the same, and pop the kettle on and have their own Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie Cancer Care this summer. "

Marie Curie Cancer Care is asking people to hold a Blooming Great Tea Party this June and July to help raise funds for the charity. It can be as simple as a cuppa with colleagues, a vintage inspired tea party or just a simple get together with friends and family.

The money raised from Blooming Great Tea Parties will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other terminal illnesses in their own homes.

Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Johnson in more new images from Anna Karenina June 7, 2012 | Written By: Brad Sturdivant (FLIX 66)

With the film barely five months away from hitting theaters, and boasting an all star cast led by Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Johnson, I would have figured the marketing for ANNA KARENINA would have been in higher gear by now, or at the very least, we would have seen a trailer by now.  I’m a huge fan of Joe Wright and his latest effort has me very intrigued.  Supposedly, he’s making the film using toys and models as opposed to elaborate set pieces, so it’s going to have a very play-like feel to it.  But we’ve seen several images from the film and along with the three new ones, none of the pics seem to show off the creative sets.  But then again, maybe that’s intentional since I’m not sure how general audiences are going to react to Wright’s method.

Video: Movie Trailer for 'Shadow Dancer' Starring Clive Owen (OPPOSING VIEWS)

Submitted by I Need My Fix on Jun 6, 2012

It’s been since the middle of February, just after its appearance at the Berlinale, that we had anything on James Marsh’s Shadow Dancer, a film I’m really looking forward to. Today we have a UK trailer (since the film opens there on 24th August.), thanks to FilmStage.  Set in 1990s Belfast, a woman (Andrea Riseborough, W.E.) is forced to betray all she believes in for the sake of her son.

When a widowed mother (and active member of the IRA) is arrested in an aborted bomb plot, she falls into the hands of a British intelligence officer (Clive Owen). After the MI5 agent offers her an ultimatum, she must make hard choices to protect her son in this heart-wrenching thriller.

Shadow Dancer stars along with Owen and Riseborough, Aidan Gillen (The Wire, Game of Thrones), Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 and part 2 and son of Brendan) and Gillian Anderson.

Colin Firth’s solar thermal application left in hot water By Peter Bennett | 06 June 2012, 11:06 Updated: 06 June 2012, 12:13 (SOLAR ENERGY CENTER)

Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth has been refused planning permission to fit his Grade II listed mansion with a solar thermal module. Hounslow Council initially rejected the appeal, stating that the “inappropriate size and positing [of the solar module] would not preserve the architectural and historic significance of the listed building.”

Upon appeal, the council has decided to uphold its initial decision to deny the actor permission to install solar thermal at his Chiswick home. Roger Shrimplin, the appointed inspector reiterated that “the solar panel would not be merely a temporary feature and it would be unduly intrusive in the streetscene.

“In consequence, the proposed solar panel would erode the architectural qualities of the listed host building itself and would cause actual harm to the character and appearance of the Bedford Park Conservation Area.”

Is Prometheus Michael Fassbender’s Oscar moment? by MARC CAMERON on Jun 6, 2012 • 8:22 am (FOTORATER)

At last year’s Oscars there appeared to be a significant oversight, to say the least: namely the absence of leading man du jour Michael Fassbender from the Best Actor nominations.

Despite his brilliant performance as sex addict Brandon in British director and artist Steve McQueen’s critically-acclaimed Shame, Fassbender (who was nominated for or won practically every other major acting gong going) was overlooked by the Oscar voting committee. It was wrong, to say the least. Look up injustice in an online dictionary, and you’ll find a picture of Michael Fassbender alongside it.

Beyond undergoing a body metamorphosis, Fassbender’s commitment to the role of Brandon was on a par with anything the likes of Brando, De Niro, or latter day talented actors such as Guy Pearce (Memento) or Christian Bale (The Fighter) has ever exhibited on the big screen. Like with all his roles, Fassbender lived and breathed the character in a mesmerising portrayal of a troubled, restless individual that clearly warranted attention, and got it – just not the Oscar it truly deserved.

Showing that you can’t keep a good man down, the chameleon-like Fassbender has since been seen in Haywire, A Dangerous Method and now Prometheus, stealing the show in every film. And before that he delivered strong performances in Eden Lake, Fish Tank, Hunger (another role he should have got an Oscar nod for) and Inglourious Bastards. But, it’s his performance as David in that should see the German-born Irish actor finally pick up the golden gong his stellar acting work truly deserves. It is nothing short of flawless. And given that it’s a performance that will be seen by a mass audience, it seems impossible to conceive that next year’s Best Actor Oscar nominations won’t feature Fassbender’s name among the chosen few.

That’s It, Steve McQueen’s ‘Twelve Years a Slave’ Has the Best Cast of the Year Casting Couch By Kate Erbland on June 5, 2012 (FILM SCHOOL REJECTS)

Seemingly not content to follow up his critically lauded Shame with a cast that only includes such names as Chiwitel Ejifior, Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Paul Dano, Taran Killam, Scoot McNairy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ruth Negga, and Adepero Oduye, filmmaker Steve McQueen has just gone ahead and thrown another batch of incredible talent into the giant amazing stew that is Twelve Years a Slave. This time around, he’s mixed in no less than Paul Giamatti, Garret Dillahunt, and Sarah Paulson, a wealth of talent that would stand alone just fine, but the addition of which makes Twelve Years the most skill-laden cast of the year.

I never say this about a film I’ve yet to see (much less one that’s not even been filmed yet), but – all of the Oscars. All of the Oscars. Based on the true story of Solomon Northrup, Ejifior will play a free man who is sold into slavery and who remains a slave for twelve years (yes, the title of the film should have clued you into that).

Kate Middleton, Prince William & Prince Harry Rock Out—Royal Style Mon., Jun. 4, 2012 4:42 PM PDT by BRUNA NESSIF (E ON LINE)

The royals know how to have a good time.

It's not as crazy as some of their other outings, but Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry still enjoyed themselves during a pop concert at Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee today—just look at those faces!

So who did they jam out to?

Robbie Williams opened the show with his version of "Let Me Entertain You," which the three musketeers seemed to enjoy—how thrilled does Kate look waving her flag in the air?! Will.i.am and Jessie J followed up with the Black Eyed Peas hit "I Gotta Feeling."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and company also enjoyed the sounds of Paul McCartney, Tom Jones and Stevie Wonder.

Later on, comedian Lenny Henry and the crowd welcomed the queen—who strutted a gold cocktail dress with Swarovski crystals—to the royal box. She was escorted to her seat by Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.

Hugh Grant puts the pedal to the metal in his £130,000 Ferrari California By J J ANISIOBI (MAIL ON LINE)

He may have a baby daughter now but Hugh Grant has not decided to trade in his fast cars for a family motor.

The actor was spotted taking his £130, 000 Ferrari California for a spin around the south of France, yesterday afternoon.

The 51-year-old was reportedly testing out his vehicle's handling capabilities by driving at high speeds around the quiet country roads.

The Love Actually star is reported to have been doing almost twice the speed limit at 200 kilometres per hour in a 110 km/h zone.

Hugh was flying solo as he took in the scenic countryside, although most of it would have been quite a blur at those high speeds.

He appeared to be staying at the four star Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel, where he pulled up and handed over his car keys to the valet service.

Crowds jam London for Queen Elizabeth's jubilee finale By Michael Holden and Mike Collett-White LONDON | Tue Jun 5, 2012 7:35am EDT (REUTERS)

(Reuters) - Britain's Queen Elizabeth began the fourth and final day of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Tuesday with a solo appearance at a thanksgiving service in St. Paul's Cathedral ahead of a horse-drawn procession and a wave from Buckingham Palace.

People thronged the streets as the 86-year-old monarch cut a somber figure in church, attending one of the few grand state occasions in her life without her husband of 64 years, after Prince Philip was taken ill with a bladder infection on Monday.

"The Queen will today face one of the crowning moments of her reign without the presence by her side of the man who for more than six decades has been her unfailing support," said the Times newspaper.

The 90-year-old royal consort will be kept under observation for a few days in a move the palace said was "precautionary", but takes some of the gloss of what is widely seen as a triumphant jubilee that has cemented the queen's popularity.

Millions have attended street parties and festivities, watched a spectacular 1,000-vessel pageant on the River Thames in London on Sunday and a concert in front of Buckingham Palace on Monday, all held in honor of Elizabeth II, the only British monarch other than Queen Victoria to have reigned for 60 years.

In a rare move, the queen, who usually only appears on TV screens for a short message on Christmas Day, will deliver a special broadcast be aired at 1700 GMT to thank the nation.

Crowds began massing in huge numbers on the wide Mall avenue towards Buckingham Palace, turning the famous road into a sea of red, white and blue, for the jubilee finale when the royal family will appear on the balcony, with a fly-past by modern and former Royal Air Force aircraft.

"Some may think this is all a bit frivolous, but it's all about spreading the love," said Aba Shanti, 41, who was wearing a red, white and blue "Union Jack" flag dress.

Brendan Coyle of Downton Abbey Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary of Origin Theatre Company at British Residence 04 June 2012 (UK IN USA)

On 23 May, British Consul-General to New York Danny Lopez hosted a night celebrating European theatre at the British Residence to mark the ten year anniversary of Origin Theatre Company, and to salute its founder George Heslin. The dinner was co-hosted by the Northern Ireland Bureau and was attended by Origin board members, and long-term supporters including representatives of the American Ireland Fund, Mutual of America and 59 E 59 Theatre. The night’s guest of honour was Brendan Coyle, also known as the ill-fated valet Mr. Bates in smash television series Downton Abbey.

Coyle, a Olivier and New York Theatre Critic Award-winning actor, provided some behind-the-scenes quips about Downton Abbey. Coyle remained tight-lipped about plot developments for season three, but admitted his delight at the fan base for his character, manifested in the fan-generated  “Free Mr. Bates Campaign.” Earlier in the week, Origin announced Coyle's appointment as Honorary Patron of the company.

"Theatre is my passion and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with George and the board to develop our shared vision of nurturing talent" said Coyle. "Through Origin, New York audiences can experience the depth and breadth of exciting European theatre."

Actors Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth Get Physical on ‘Avengers’ By Jenalyn Villamarin (INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TIMES)

"Avengers" star, Tom Hiddleston, told Chris Hemsworth to really hit him. Chris Hemsworth stands 6'3" tall and he even gained 20 pounds of muscle to portray Marvel Comics' hero, Thor.

He is equally adept at swinging his fists with his mythical hammer. So who exactly in the world would volunteer to be actually punched by him? Well, it is none other than his co-star Tom Hiddleston.

Hiddleston reprises the role of Loki who was first seen in last year's hit film "Thor." He is the adopted brother of the "God of Thunder" with an apocalyptic case of sibling rivalry.

Loki assembles an army to conquer the planet and it will take the combined strength of Earth's mightiest heroes to stop him. Basically, one of the most anticipated scenes in the film "Avengers" would be the climactic battle between Thor and Loki. In an interview with Tom Hiddleston, the actor has explained that most of the fighting on-screen was indeed real.

Tom Hiddleston: The ebb and flow of love in The Deep Blue Sea John Daly-Peoples | Tuesday June 05, 2012 (NATIONAL BUSINESS REVIEW)

Through the characters the film tries to grapple with the social changes brought on by the end of WWII, with individuals looking for more freedom of expression, choice of jobs and choice of futures.

Hester is caught between the conservatism of the past as represented by her husband and the new liberalism Freddie aspires to.

This is an actor’s film. Much of the drama is internalised by the actors is internal, and the audience has to work at understanding Hester as she struggles with her demons and desires.

Rachel Weisz is brings a raw emotional quality without being over-sentimental. Tom Hiddleston’s Freddie is brilliantly immature and callous.

The film is beautifully crafted, with a slowly evolving dreamlike quality which manages to give the dreary 1950s environments a sumptuous a haunting and melancholic feel.

The soundtrack also has a trancelike quality, making extensive use of Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto, which is used throughout to highlight the drama and tension of Hester’s dilemma.

The music is used as an introduction to each of the “acts” of the film and is employed as a commentary rather than background.

Benedict Cumberbatch Is "Very Flattered and Slightly Bemused" About His Heartthrob Status - POP SUGAR (OH NO THEY DIDN'T)

Benedict Cumberbatch was one of the celeb guests at Saturday's Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at New Jersey's Liberty State Park. He mingled with his Star Trek 2 costar Zoe Saldana, as well as fellow Brits like Matthew Rhys and Clive Owen, who cohosted the challenge with Argentine polo star Nacho Figueras. We snagged a couple minutes at the VIP tent with Benedict, who was flying somewhat under the radar. The much-hyped star of BBC hit Sherlock was happy to talk about the ongoing Diamond Jubilee in his native London, and what it was like joining the Star Trek family. Benedict also touched on what life is like as a newly-minted heartthrob.

Benedict said:

PopSugar: We're here celebrating a very English sport, polo, while back in London, the Diamond Jubilee is going on! Are you excited for the queen's 60th anniversary?

Benedict Cumberbatch: I am exited for the Jubilee. I feel a bit of a treason-worthy abscondee. I planned to have a holiday here a long while after I finished shooting a film I've just done. I guess that's why I am here rather than over there. It's very exciting. We've got three huge events, really, in this next couple of months, this being a kickoff for it. I think, like lots of places in Europe, we need all the home-spun joy and festivities and celebrations we can get at the moment.

PopSugar: Does that mean you're attending the Olympics?

Benedict: I am as much as anyone who doesn't have a ticket can go to the Olympics. I'm going to avoid all the traffic and maybe see the best events at home, I think. But we'll see, hopefully. I haven't really made any plans, to be honest, to go, but I'm really, really excited about hosting it.

PopSugar: You're obviously talking about Star Trek 2. How was it joining that cast to make the movie?

Benedict: Fantastic. Zoe's just my amazing, good friend. The whole thing was just an absolute blast. I mean really, really good fun. I had a terrific time doing it.

DOWNTON ABBEY SEASON 3 – MACLAINE’S VISIT June 4, 2012 · by Jay Tomio · in Television (BOOM TRON)

TV guide  has delivered more details on Downton Abbey’s season 3, specifically regarding MacLaine. Martha Levinson is from Long Island, and like much of characters in the show already, is said by MacLaine to have “interesting” reactions to class and tradition.

MacLaine goes on to say that she was disappointed to not share scenes with Brendan Coyle’s Mr. Bates, who she points to as one of her favorite characters, but did particularly enjoy sharing time with Jim Carter’s Carson. Of the meeting that I think came first to fan’s minds when her casting was announced, MacLaine says of the Maggie Smith portrayed Dowager Countess, “Our characters’ relationship is probably not what you’d think,” Shirley says. “Maggie and I are both so old, we have a lot of time on us to discuss.”

Christian Bale Gets Emotional Seeing Heath Ledger In 'Dark Knight' Montage By John Mitchell (MTV)

The cast of "The Dark Knight Rises" took the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards to introduce an exclusive clip from the hotly anticipated summer blockbuster, but things took an unexpectedly emotional turn following a montage of director Christopher Nolan's first two "Batman" films, which included scenes of the late Heath Ledger's iconic performance as the Joker in "The Dark Knight."

At the clip's conclusion, Christian Bale, flanked by his co-stars Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, stepped up to the mic and said, "Wow, great to remember Heath at that moment. Wonderful to see Heath Ledger there."

The Oscar-winning actor then lowered his head and appeared to get choked up as the audience applauded for Ledger, who died in January 2008 at age 28 from an acute intoxication from the combined effects of several prescription medications. A few months after his passing, "The Dark Knight" arrived in theaters to critical acclaim and enormous box-office success.
