BENEDICT Cumberbatch can’t get over his ex-girlfriend.
The actor split from longtime love Olivia Poulet in 2010, but Cumberbatch says he still loves his former flame.
“It happened very gradually, very mutually,” he said. “We’re still very good friends. There was no acrimony. I love her, adore her, always will.
“It is a wonderful thing to get married young and become a father. I used to think that I’d get married in my mid-30s and have children. But now I think I can wait. I’m no longer in a hurry to get married.”
Benedict, 37, likes women who have a good sense of humor.
“A woman who knows that she doesn’t have to get all decked out to look good is sexy,” he said.
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch says he hopes he’s not overexposed himself with the amount of roles he’s taken on. Yes, he realises that sounds dirty.
“I’d hate to think anyone is sick of the sight of me, although I wouldn’t blame them. It’s just crazy. I’ve overexposed myself! Actually that sounds a bit dirty,” Cumberbatch tells Adelaide’s The Advertiser.
“I’m proud of every single project. I can genuinely say that it is varied enough, as a slate, to not fear too much overexposure. I just hope the public agree because they are seeing a lot of me.”
Cumberbatch is undoubtedly hot property - although perhaps fans of Sherlock would be quick to suggest more of that on our screens wouldn’t go amiss.
But of course he’s a busy man. Star Trek, 12 Years A Slave and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug have all had Cumberbatch’s name on the cast list. But he seems to be having fun with it. The Oscars photobombing of U2 springs to mind. The actor admits, “It would be really churlish to complain about anything to be honest. I’m very fortunate to be in the position I’m in.”

Danny Dyer has hit out at "snobbery" within showbiz circles and said that he struggles with "playing the game".
The EastEnders actor revealed that he feels stars such as Benedict Cumberbatch are taken more seriously than him, despite his acting background.
He told Woman magazine: "You've got actors like Benedict Cumberbatch - a great actor, but he's a posh boy playing posh boys. He does it well, and he doesn't get mocked for that.
"I play working class people, and I get mocked for it. I'm stereotyped, he's not. I've done plays at the National Theatre, come off stage and gone into the bar and I ain't got nothing in common with those people.
"When it comes to playing the game, I'm rubbish. The middle-class actors are better prepped at working the system, because they've got more in common with the decision makers."
Dyer, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in EastEnders, also revealed that the show's bosses have asked him to tone down his remarks on Twitter now that he is working for the BBC.

Why does Benedict Cumberbatch prefer to shoot many takes of a scene? Why did he initially fear that Sherlock would be "cheap and cheesy"? What advice did the greatest actress of all offer him when he asked her to describe her "acting process"? And why does he fear that social media could "take over my life and probably ruin it"?
These are among the questions that the 37-year-old A-lister answered last week over the course of an hour-long conversation moderated by yours truly as part of In Conversation, a new series on which BAFTA-New York and The Hollywood Reporter are partnering -- and which THR is pleased to debut exclusively here. The conversation was taped in front of a BAFTA audience at New York's The Standard High Line hotel.
Benedict Cumberbatch graces the March cover of T Magazine, and the accompanying interview shows us yet another intriguing side of the star. By now, it's no secret who Benedict Cumberbatch is or why he's so sexy, so at this point, we're just enjoying the process of getting to know him better. Keep scrolling for our favorite revelations from his T Magazine interview.

It wouldn't take a world-famous super sleuth and his sidekick to note that Benedict Cumberbatch was sporting a very different look on Friday.
The Sherlock actor, 37, was spotted at London's Heathrow Airport wearing a flat cap and wide-rimmed glasses as he arrived home from New York City.
And, while he cut something of an English gent figure, he also looked worse for wear from his seven-hour transatlantic journey.
Wearing a T-shirt with a chunky knit cardigan, the popular performer was a vision in brown as he walked through the arrivals lounge in what appeared to be country life apparel.
Perhaps feeling the weight of his luggage, he also appeared to be perspiring as he navigated himself through fellow travellers.
Interestingly, it looked as though Benedict had enjoyed some winter sports while on America's east coast as he carried snowboaring equipment.

Ever found yourself staring at Benedict Cumberbatch and wondering what makes the guy so attractive? (I mean, a little staring is harmless, right?) Don’t worry, turns out Benedict Cumberbatch has been wondering why we think he is cute too. In a clip from the first episode of In Conversation, the brand new partnership of BAFTA and The Hollywood Reporter, Benedict does what he does best. He charms the pants off of everyone. Seriously. If you could see the audience I bet they are all pant- free. It happens. Goodness knows I get it.
Scott Feinberg, who does a great job getting Benedict to keep talking, brings up that there is a sense that Benedict is timeless. Benedict says, “It’s the blessing of having a weird face — somewhere between an otter and something people find vaguely attractive.” He goes on to say:
“I have kind of grown up with this face and it has been in the industry for ten years and now it is getting on these hottie lists. I just kind of go…it just doesn’t make any sense because I was nowhere near the 1000th hottest face when I started out. I know a lot of it is projecting, which is flattering about the work I suppose.” He continues, “I am not a typical beauty, so basically I’ve got a long neck and a long face. That’s usually period, that’s usually some kind of in-breeding weirdness. So…I’ll run with that. I’ll wear some high collars and get on a horse.”
And we will thank you for that Benedict Cumberbatch, oh yes we will.
The complete episode of In Conversation will be available on The Hollywood reporter later this week. I can’t wait to hear what else Scott gets out of the actor.
Benedict Cumberbatch suits up as he attends BAFTA New York Presents: In Conversation With Benedict Cumberbatch held at The Standard Highline on Thursday (February 13) in New York City.
The 37-year-old actor took part in the lengthy Q&A session where admitted he was unsure about his role in Sherlock, and talks about how his first experience with social media.

Although perhaps not so much the time he was stung by a bee in a Greek market and a widow rubbed an onion on his bum!
Changes are afoot for the Cumberbitches. ‘Now they’re the Cumber Collective,’ Benedict Cumberbatch says.
‘I didn’t ask for this subservient, demeaning collective noun and they’ve kindly gone: “Oh no, it’s only a joke.” It’s one of the least offensive nicknames I’ve got on the internet."
Benedict Cumberbatch loves playing Sherlock.
‘It’s a rare challenge, both for the audience and an actor, to take part in something with this level of intelligence and wit,’ he says.
‘You have to really enjoy it. It’s a form of mental and physical gymnastics.’
Benedict Cumberbatch is nervous about approaching girls.
‘Going up to someone in a bar and saying hi is even more difficult because they won’t know the real me,’ he says.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been named the most desirable Valentine's date by British females, topping the new poll above the lovely likes of David Beckham and Leonardo Dicaprio.
According to the online dating help site datingpriceguide.co.uk, the Sherlock star is the most-wanted man in the UK right now – with 16% off the votes swinging in his (very handsome) favour.
The survey asked 300 women who they'd most like to enjoy a romantic dinner with on February 14th, seeing the British actor beat a long list of Hollywood heartthrobs.
Prince William also joined Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and Will Smith among the top 10 names, while Danny Dyer stole 7% of the vote thanks to his newfound soap career.
PASADENA, Calif. – Benedict Cumberbatch has had a memorable year, including roles in five major films, but he's trying to look forward.
"You can't get too nostalgic. You can look back and go, 'That was a great year, a great moment,' but I want 2014 to be better for different reasons. I've got personal goals and all sorts of things that I want to evolve. I always have been about building a career of longevity," he says during an interview to discuss PBS' Sherlock (third-season finale, Sunday, 10 p.m. ET/PT, times may vary).
Cumberbatch's contemporary take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic character became more personal this year, as Holmes' parents were portrayed by his mother and father — actors Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton. In one scene, Sherlock unceremoniously shoos them from the room when Watson arrives.
Working with his parents was "terrific. Sort of like home, really. Alarmingly so, for those who know our relationship off screen," he jokes. "It was a beautiful thing. ... It was the first day of shooting and I was nervous for them. And then I realized, now I really have to take control of this, and I just started to kind of make sure that they felt all right. And they ended up having a really good day."
He credits his parents and actors they introduced him to for his desire to pursue the same career, but there "wasn't one Saul-on-the-road-to-Damascus moment of inspiration. It was just an accumulation, really."
That has led to an accumulation of significant roles, too, for the London-born actor.
Cumberbatch, 37, finished work in December on The Imitation Game, an upcoming film in which he plays real-life British mathematician and World War II code breaker Alan Turing.
He plans to take on another real Brit, the explorer Percy Fawcett, in The Lost City of Z, a film about "this rather brilliant, rather lovely Victorian man who just became obsessed with this discovery he made in the Amazon jungle" in the early 20th Century. The melancholy Dane, Hamlet, is on the actor's schedule for fall on the London stage.
And Sunny March, the production company he started with friends just produced a short film that he appears in, Little Favour.
All of this comes on the heels of a remarkable year. Since May, he has appeared on the big screen in five major films, including an Oscar best-picture nominee,12 Years a Slave; an ensemble piece earning praise for its cast, August: Osage County; a lead role as Julian Assange in The Fifth Estate; and two blockbuster sequels, Star Trek Into Darkness and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It can be difficult, even for a man of Cumberbatch's quick intelligence, to remember every detail.
"Five films come out and they're so different. From Khan (Trek) to Smaug to Julian Assange to Ford (Slave) to …," he says, pausing. "You see, this is the problem. I actually then start forgetting what the other role was. (Another pause.) To Little Charles in August: Osage County. And that's when it is literally an embarrassment of riches."
He credits Sherlock, which premiered in 2010, with providing a big career boost, but says he was landing roles for 2011 productions — War Horse and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy on film and Frankenstein at the Royal National Theater in England — at about the same time with major directors who hadn't seen him play the iconic sleuth.
Sherlock has "done a lot. I won't say it's changed my life, because I had a huge break at the same time as this role first came to fruition," says Cumberbatch, substituting a sleek blue suit for Sherlock's layered look on this warm winter day. "It was a sort of perfect storm of all mediums coming together at the same time, television, film and theater, even some radio."
Cumberbatch has a rare star quality that makes viewers root for the often difficult Holmes, Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat says.
"I think he's capable of being aloof and dangerous and (being able to) do, with complete honesty, every beat of unlikable behavior, and yet you still like him," he says. "The other thing you have to say is he's one of the best actors alive. He's absolutely supreme."
Sherlock" season 3 ends on Masterpiece Mystery with episode 3, "His Last Vow," for which PBS released a new sneak preview on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The "His Last Vow" sneak peek offers a look at John finding out that Sherlock has a girlfriend (Janine), but Sherlock would much rather talk about Magnussen, whom he describes "like a shark." "I've dealt with murderers, psychopaths, terrorist, serial killers. None of them can turn my stomach like Charles Augustus Magnussen," Sherlock explains, but John would much rather talk about the fact that Sherlock is in a relationship. Plus, don't forget to check out the promotional photos PBS has released from the season 3 finale in the slideshow.

He’s the object of many women’s affection, with his tall, dark and handsome nature, but Benedict Cumberbatch decided to dodge his fans by going to the cinema incognito on Tuesday.
The star was spotted leaving the Arclight cinema in Hollywood with a male friend having watched a showing of Wolf of Wall Street.
Wearing thick-rimmed glasses and a baker-boy cap the star looked almost unrecognisable as he slinked out of the movie theatre.
But it seems, although he is now an A-list star, hunky Benedict is just like any normal person visiting the cinema as he was clutching a pot of popcorn – a snack of choice for many at the pictures
The star is usually seen dressed up in suits and ties, but he chose to go for a more casual look on Tuesday evening in a checked shirt unbuttoned to the chest.
He wrapped up in a black cardigan and wore black denim jeans and casual pale blue shoes for the event.
It's been 3 months now since Benedict Cumberbatch was linked to a new film. Stay strong folks. We'll get through this together.
Thankfully, someone out there was watching. The Cumberdrought is over. After seemingly going months being linked to films left right and centre, there had been a notable, discerning lack of Cumberbatch film news. What would we dwellers of the internet do? People had seemingly even lost the energy to make things up. Turns out, the man himself has come to the rescue with something concrete. Breathe out folks, breathe out.
For we now learn that Benedict Cumberbatch has signed up for a new thriller by the name of Blood Mountain. The film's being directed by Sergei Bodorov (who helmed Mongol), with Lawrence Bender producing. The shoot is set to kick off in Morocco in April.

Admitting that she had never met the Sherlock Holmes star before filming, Meryl told ITN News: "Benedict I hadn't ever met before and he was such a gift to the film.
"He plays someone completely different than all the other performances we've seen. He's very tender and wounded and bruised and tentative, and he fit into this Oklahoma family just effortlessly."
The 64-year-old actress went on to admit that she was completely unaware that Cumberbatch is British, adding: "I was surprised to learn that he was British, I didn't know that."

Maybe we're a bit late to the party, but this weekend we came across this video of Benedict Cumberbatch reading the lyrics to a particularly raunchy R. Kelly song. And, it's all kinds of awesome.
Um…if Meryl Streep tells you to do something, you DO IT! That’s why we’re shocked to hear that when the 18-time Oscar nominee suggested that she and the entire cast of August: Osage County live together in an Oklahoma condo complex during filming, there was one famous hold-out!
Benedict Cumberbatch!
According to the awards season queen, the Sherlock actor decided he’d rather stay in a hotel than slum it with her, Julia Roberts, Abigail Breslin, and Ewan McGregor!
