'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie: Tom Hardy, Friend Of Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, Considered Grey Front-Runner? By Bobby Pollier, EnStarz Read more

(Photo : Reuters) Hardy poses at a premiere at the Grauman's Chinese theatre in Hollywood

Fans have been continuously buzzing over who they feel would make the Christian Grey character in the film adaptation of the E.L. James racy read "Fifty Shades of Grey."  Although the author and the rest of the production team has remained quiet on just who the front runner will be in the casting process, the progression toward making the actual movie itself just picked up a little more steam.

On Monday, it was announced by Universal and Focus Features  that "Terry Nova" writer Kelly Marcel would be brought on to pen the film script.  The 38-year-old is also a friend and fan of "Lawless" actor Tom Hardy, who just so happens to be one of the front-runners for the role of Grey.  Interestingly enough, Marcel and the 34-year-old British heart throb also founded the "Bad Dog Theater Company" in London together.

MARTIN CLUNES: 'Men Behaving Badly' Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary With DVD Collection - Is This 'The Funniest Sitcom In BBC History'? The Huffington Post UK | By HuffPost Staff Posted: 11/10/2012 14:11 BST Updated: 11/10/2012 14:33 BST (HUFFINGTON POST)

'Men Behaving Badly' provided the prototype for a generation.

It may have been observing real-life with its depiction of how two men - Gary and Tony - spent their time but, back in its heyday, it also provided an operational manual for all men on how to get in the pizza and beer, sit in front of the TV and talk to their hearts' content about football and women. Their dreams may even come true, like they did for Tony, who got to meet the woman of his dreams. Yes, Ms Minogue makes a guest appearance in the series.

Natalie Portman & Michael Fassbender's Malick Embrace Interrupted By Lizard Man (MOVIE LINE)

NEWSWIRE || BY: JEN YAMATO || OCTOBER 10, 2012 05:50 PM EDT

Your guess is as good as mine as to what the heck's going on in new set photos from Terrence Malick's latest picture, in which Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender appear to be getting down to lip-locking in a field... and are interrupted by a green lizard man with "FREAK" tattoed across his chest. What's Terry up to down in Austin?

The untitled Malick film follows To The Wonder and Knight of Cups in the filmmaker's suddenly hyperproductive recent filming tear and is about sexual obsession and lusty betrayal in the Austin, TX music scene. Or, as you might imagine, a Friday night on 6th Street during SXSW. But, more importantly! In the new batch of set pics Portman and Fassbender get wrapped up in each others' arms, a bit more passionately than co-stars Rooney Mara and Ryan Gosling did in their previously snapped scenes. They gaze into each others' eyes. He dips her onto the ground. And then... The Lizardman startles PortBender out of their embrace!

'Downton Abbey' star Joanne Froggatt has married.

The 31-year-old actress -- who plays housemaid Anna Bates in the period drama -- wed her long-term partner James Cannon on Oct. 6, 2012.

The church ceremony was attended by several cast members from Julian Fellowes' award-winning show.
The blonde beauty is also a married woman on-screen and is constantly trying to prove her husband, valet John Bates -- played by Brendan Coyle -- didn't murder his first wife.

Froggatt will be taking a short break from her role as Anna, to settle in with her IT director husband and enjoy a relaxing honeymoon.

The actress previously admitted she was struggling to find time to plan her wedding while juggling filming commitments.

Froggatt told People magazine: "This is what you hope for, really -- you've just got to take these times and enjoy them and grasp them by the horns and go with it because there will be quiet times again in the future. But I'm enjoying every minute of it at the moment."

Benedict Cumberbatch – “I’m more of a Watson, Martin Freeman is more of a Sherlock” The Sherlock actor says he's "a follower" while his co-star displays "intuitive brilliance" (RADIO TIMES)

Paul Jones
11:51 AM, 07 October 2012

When it comes to Sherlock, life doesn't quite imitate art, according to Benedict Cumberbatch. The star of the BBC1 series say that in reality he is far more like the detective's sidekick Watson, while Martin Freeman, who plays Sherlock's best friend, displays more "intuitive brilliance".

Asked which of the characters he most resembled in real life, Cumberbatch said without hesitation "Watson - I’m much more of a follower."

And he said his co-star shared some - if not quite all - of Sherlock's special characteristics: "Martin’s got far more intuitive brilliance and intelligence than I have," said Cumberbatch, "otherwise that makes me sound like an asexual sociopath - not that Martin's an asexual sociopath!"

**SPOILERS** Star Trek Into Darkness Movie Spoilers and Rumors: Benedict Cumberbatch is Gary Mitchell Jesse Merke (POLICY MIC)

(WARNING: Major possible, quite likely spoilers ahead!!)

Ever since the Star Trek reboot hit theaters in 2009 and successfully rebooted the franchise, people have been wondering what's next for the born again franchise. While it was initially rumored that Benicio Del Toro would be cast as the bad guy, a few months ago it was announced that British actor Benedict Cumberbatch had been cast as the villain in the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, which is due in theaters next May.

When Del Toro’s name was initially being floated, people believed that director J.J. Abrams was going to bring back the legendary Khan character, which is considered by many to be the greatest villain in the entire Star Trek franchise. Many Star Trek fans (including myself) believed that bringing back Khan Noonien Singh would be a serious mistake, mainly because of the fact that it is believed that no one will ever be able to do better than Ricardo Maltoban’s. Remember seeing Heath Ledger portray the joker, and just knowing that that no one could ever do it better? Yeah. That.

However, after announcing that Benedict Cumberbatch was brought on board, another original series villain name began to circulate: Gary Mitchell. Cumberbatch is currently most well known for portraying the character of Sherlock Homes in the British television series Sherlock.

Lt. Commander Gary Mitchell first appeared in the original series episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before." He was Captain Kirk’s best friend, who ended up receiving god-like powers through an accident and became a serious threat to the Enterprise and her crew. Gary Lockwood, who also appeared in the Sci Fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey, originally portrayed Mitchell.

So why believe that Benedict Cumberbatch will portray Gary Mitchell in Star Trek Into Darkness? There are a few reasons...

Late last year, sources close to the producers of the new movie revealed to TrekMovie.com and other websites that the new villain would be an reboot of an original series character:

“It’s definitely a character that will make fans of TOS excited. Think along the likes of Harry Mudd, or Trelane, or Gary Mitchell, or the Talosians or the Horta. Actually, it’s one of those that I named.”

Star Trek fans, you may now begin salivating!

Benedict Cumberbatch on Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman: “He ups my game – he made me cry” (RADIO TIMES)

Meeting the "extraordinary" actor who plays John Watson had an instant effect on Cumberbatch - and one performance in particular reduced him to tears

Fans may be able to guess which of Freeman’s performances made his co-star cry – Cumberbatch is certainly not alone in having shed a tear during the mobile phone conversation at the end of series two finale The Reichenbach Fall, in which John tries to persuade Sherlock not to jump from the roof of St Bart’s hospital.

“I couldn’t see Martin’s face [during filming] obviously,” said Cumberbatch, “he was just a little blob on the pavement, waiting for a bigger blob to land by his feet… [but later] it was really wonderful to see what he’d done on the other end of that phone conversation - I could hear it [at the time] but to see it was really, really, really moving and, him being in shock afterwards, it’s ridiculous but it made me cry.”

Michelle Dockery goes Non-Stop with Neeson Michelle Dockery has landed another Hollywood role (MSN)

Michelle Dockery is set for Hollywood, following reports she has joined thriller Non-Stop.

The Downton Abbey actress, best known for playing Lady Mary Crawley in the ITV1 period drama, could be making her third major big-screen debut in the airplane drama alongside Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore, reported Variety.

It would be the 30-year-old British star's third biggest film role to date, following her appearances in Joe Wright's Anna Karenina opposite Keira Knightley and Ruth Wilson, and in Hanna with Saoirse Ronan.

There is no word about what characters Michelle or Julianne would play.

Benedict Cumberbatch Honors Former ‘Sherlock’ Jeremy Brett By Kevin Wicks | Posted on Wednesday, October 10th, 2012 (BBC AMERICA)

Jeremy Brett (Photo: Granada)

Robert Downey Jr.‘s blockbuster success aside, Benedict Cumberbatch is the definitive contemporary Sherlock Holmes to many diehards. But Cumberbatch himself has honored the man who previously defined Holmes for a generation, actor Jeremy Brett, who played Arthur Conan Doyle‘s complicated detective in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes from 1984 to 1994.

“I saw that version when I was growing up,” said Cumberbatch told an audience at Cheltenham Literature Festival (via Radio Times). “I remember at my nan’s in Brighton we used to watch that on the telly, but I know much more of it now having watched it after we first incarnated our version of him.”

Cumberbatch relays his impressions of Brett with a writerly eloquence: “Even when I was younger I was still struck by this extraordinary hawk-like, magisterial, cold disconnect. And this incredible physique, as well – that wonderful beak of a nose, the swept back hair, the lips and those slightly mad eyes, which, sadly, became a lot madder.”

Benedict Cumberbatch: “Sherlock is nothing without Moriarty - I’m a bit obsessed with Andrew Scott” (RADIO TIMES)

"Andrew Scott is a lovely human being," says Cumberbatch - “I was very sad when he put a gun in his head and blew his brains out”

Paul Jones
12:00 PM, 09 October 2012

Moriarty is dead. As Andrew Scott, the actor who plays the arch-villain in BBC1’s Sherlock, has himself pointed out “It’s very hard to come back from shooting yourself in the mouth.”

Yet with a third series in the pipeline, the show’s star Benedict Cumberbatch has admitted “it’s nothing without that dynamic between Holmes and Moriarty.”

“I was very sad when he put a gun in his head and blew his brains out,” said Cumberbatch, adding that, along with his fondness for Moriarty, he is also “a bit obsessed” with Scott.

“He’s brilliant. He’s another person [as well as Martin Freeman] that when he was cast, it was music to my ears,” said the star. “I knew how good he was because I’d seen all his stage plays.”

***SPOILERS***Downton Abbey series three, episode five: preview pictures and predictions (RADIO TIMES)

Ellie Walker-Arnott
6:02 PM, 09 October 2012

Last week's episode of Downton Abbey certainly brought with it a fair amount of new plot twists.

Edith seemed to have made her peace with being jilted at the altar and turned her attention to universal suffrage, even getting a letter published in The Times (much to Carson's alarm).

Mary told Matthew, rather sharply, to "pull your weight" around the estate so he delved into the inner workings of Downton only to find out that the Abbey is being "mismanaged". A lot of macho eyebrow-raising followed, so it's only a matter of time before the new masters of the house come to blows...

Meanwhile, Ethel and her heartbreaking storyline were back, leaving plenty of viewers in need of a tissue when she gave away her (incredibly cute) little boy.

But the biggest story of the week was Branson getting caught up in an Irish rebel plot. The ex-chauffeur arrived on Downton's doorstep alone on a rainy night without pregnant Sybil, whom he had left behind to fend for herself. The revelation provoked an angry Earl to yell "Go to bed!" before later revealing that if Branson ever set foot on Irish soil again he would be arrested by the authorities.

Meanwhile, there was a post-related fiasco. Bates wasn't writing to Anna but it turned out in the end that he wasn't receiving her letters either. What a kerfuffle! And new footman Jimmy sent all the maids' - as well as Thomas's - hearts a-flutter, while new kitchen maid Ivy put Daisy's back up when she seemed to attract Alfred's attention...

So what's next? We've got pictures of the drama to come this Sunday, so as usual we've made some spurious predictions...

Flashback: George Harrison Pays Tribute to Bob Dylan The 1992 performance was one of Harrison's final times onstage (ROLLING STONE VIDEOS)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZaZD2t3J_fs

By ANDY GREENE OCTOBER 9, 2012 4:25 PM

In the early 1990s, George Harrison seemed like he was gearing up for a return to the spotlight. His 1987 LP Cloud Nine was a huge surprise hit, and his subsequent work with the Traveling Wilburys pushed the shy Beatle even further into the public eye. The obvious next step was a tour, but Harrison's disastrous 1974 tour was still a fresh memory, and he seemed to have no interest. But in May of 1990, Harrison joined Eric Clapton onstage in Los Angeles for a couple of Cream songs, and the next year the longtime friends announced a joint tour of Japan.

Twelve concerts were staged across Japan in December of 1991, and it seemed like the jumping off point for a long comeback tour. Sadly, that wasn't the case. It wasn't a repeat of his 1974 debacle, but Harrison just didn't feel any desire to stay on the road. He proved he could still deliver, and nothing beyond that seemed necessary. He did agree to a single show at the Royal Albert Hall in April of 1992 to raise money for the Natural Law Party, but it was an isolated event.

Benedict Cumberbatch:My mother told me I didn’t have the right nose for Sherlock Holmes OCTOBER 8TH, 2012 @ 11:50 AM (FAN SHARE)

Benedict Cumberbatch was at the 2012 Literary Festival, following JK Rowling, and he was interviewed by Sherlock co-star Louise Brealey.

When asked what the third season of Sherlock would be about, Cumberbatch played coy, saying, “No comment – as I am now used to saying. Nothing. In the past year, what has been extraordinary is that I have met some of the most extraordinary people…and they all ask one question. And I have to say no comment. I can’t tell you. Secrets are a good thing to keep.”

He also talks about how his mother originally didn’t think he was right for the role, saying, “My mum went, ‘You just don’t have the right nose.’ Thank God he [Moffat] picked the right nose!” - and that he hadn’t been sure about the project until he read the script: “I heard about it…and was rather dubious about how cute it could be and an excuse to make money. And then I read the script and was blown away by it. It was so funny and so fast paced and at the heart of it was this friendship.”

"Whilst we are heartbroken that he will not be with us at the premiere, he lived long enough to see some early images from the film and to share our hopes that this new version of his story will help ensure that the men who suffered with him - and the families who had to cope with the legacy - would never be forgotten."
