Gerard Butler to Topline White House Action Film OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN (COLLIDER)

by Adam Chitwood Posted:March 17th, 2012 at 11:28 am

If you’re a fan of the high concept action films of yesteryear (ie. the 1990s) like Con Air and Air Force One, this story may be of particular interest to you. Variety reports that Gerard Butler has signed on to star in the actioner Olympus Has Fallen.

The story is described as Die Hard in the White House and centers on a “down-on-his-luck ex-Secret Service agent who becomes America’s only hope when 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is taken over by terrorists.” Despite the absurdity of the premise, I think this sounds like a sufficiently fun action pic.

In a sea of gritty/realistic/gimmicky action movies, an over-the-top story fronted by a hardened lead is actually kind of refreshing.

Keira Knightley: I have bad skin - Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION

CELEBRITIES By: Bang Showbiz

Keira Knightley feels self-conscious about her "bad skin". The 26-year-old face of Chanel admits she has a whole host of hang-ups when it comes to her much-photographed face. She said: "I've never seen myself as being attractive in that glamorous way.

"I'm incredibly self-conscious about the fact that I get bad skin. Actually, I'm incredibly self-conscious about a lot of parts of it but, equally, I'm aware that it works in certain environments and for certain things. "If you're using your face, if you're selling it, then you've become so aware of the flaws because people tell you. And they do so brusquely. So then you start seeing it." She continued: "I'm not saying that I look in the mirror all the time and go: 'Oh my God, that's hideous!' I can look at myself and think: 'Oh, good. You look good today,' or 'Holy f**k. You look like s**t today'."

Sean Bean seems OK about role as a flashback in 'Missing' (PHILLY.COM)

March 15, 2012|BY ELLEN GRAY, Daily News Television Critic

SEAN BEAN isn't the absent character referred to in the title of ABC's "Missing." But he's not exactly there, either. As the show opens tonight, Bean's character, CIA agent Paul Winstone, has been gone 10 years, visible only in a flashback that includes the car bombing that left his agent wife, Becca (Ashley Judd), a widow and their son Michael (Nick Eversman) fatherless.

That puts the "Lord of the Rings" in company with two other ABC players this season: "Revenge's" James Tupper and "The River's" Bruce Greenwood, both of whom play characters we've mostly seen only in flashbacks or video clips.

And if you think there just might be something more to the casting of a prominent character actor in a role like this in a show that's ostensibly about the widow's search for their now-missing son?

All Bean's going to do is chuckle.

But then he's still amused by the reaction of some fans of HBO's "Game of Thrones" to the plot twist that left Bean's lead character, Ned Stark, without a head last season. "I think it's quite funny," Bean, who retains a strong Yorkshire accent you won't be hearing on "Missing," said in a recent phone interview.

Keeping a low profile: Gerard Butler tries to go incognito in wake of 'homewrecker' claims (MAIL ON LINE)

By LAURA SCHREFFLER

First rehab for a painkiller addiction, now he is caught in the middle of a scandal involving a married woman. The renowned ladies seems to be getting all the wrong kind of attention at the moment and appeared to be trying to keep a low profile in Beverly Hills today.

Wearing a tracksuit a baseball cap pulled down low over his eyes, Butler, who usually waves and smiles for the cameras, wore a hangdog expression looked decidedly more low profile than usual. He has made a career about of being a favourite with the ladies in films like PS I Love You and Phantom of the Opera, but the 42-year old Scot may have taken his love of the fairer sex too far.

Gerard Butler is the talk of the town after he reportedly had an affair with an up-and-coming actress that resulted in the end of her marriage. She has since filed for divorce but wants to take up with Butler again. The woman has not yet been named, but yesterday claims emerged that she also had an affair with rocker Dave Navarro when he was married to Carmen Electra, who later divorced.

Hugh Grant: 'I love getting into a taxi and saying House of Lords instead of Soho – again' (GUARDIAN)

Decca Aitkenhead guardian.co.uk

Hugh Grant with a model of the character he voices in his latest film, The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists. Photograph: William Selden for the Guardia

In his latest role, he's taken on the tabloids – 'a vicious and vindictive industry'. But soon Hugh Grant will be back on familiar ground, giving voice to a big, barrel-chested pirate. In a rare interview, he tells Decca Aitkenhead about standing up for what is right, fatherhood and the genius of Aardman.

The Hugh Grant I meet in a west London restaurant could barely look less relaxed if I'd found him in the dock at the Old Bailey. The mischievously witty actor we know from our screens is nowhere to be seen; in his place is a sober and strained-looking man who actually shudders as we greet.

"Well, I'm very unrelaxed doing a newspaper interview. I think it's only the third British newspaper interview I've done to promote a film in 16 years. But I want to be nice to the Guardian, because I think they've been brilliant." He looks excruciatingly uncomfortable. "Yes, that would be correct," he concurs. How horrible is this for him? "Well, I really hate giving newspaper interviews. I don't want people to be able to say, 'Oh look, he's using this hacking issue to get attention for himself.' It just sticks in my craw if it's about me." Is this as bad as he'd feared? "Yes. It is."

I confess I'm nervous, too, unsure how to interview the star of a campaign against press intrusion without trespassing on the very privacy he's been so persuasively defending. Ever since Grant became the poster boy of the Hacked Off campaign against press criminality and corruption, the tabloids have been poisonous, hounding the mother of his newborn child and accusing him of lying to the Leveson inquiry.

Titanic series will be the next Downton Abbey, says Sophie Winkleman (THE TELEGRAPH)

By Donna Bowater
7:39PM GMT 16 Mar 2012

A miniseries about the Titanic will capture the imagination of viewers in the same way as Downton Abbey, according to actress Sophie Winkleman.

The 31-year-old stars in the four-part series written by Julian Fellowes, the man behind the successful ITV show, and has predicted fans will enjoy the class drama just as much.

Miss Winkleman, who is married to Freddie Windsor, the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, said she loved Downton Abbey. "I think I am in love with Lady Mary," she told a Sunday newspaper magazine. "Rather deeply, in fact. Julian writes all his characters so thoughtfully."

"With Titanic you have all the first-class passengers interwoven with wonderful stories about the maids and the engineers, the people downstairs in the galleys. "People are as obsessed with Downton's valet Bates and housemaid Anna as they are with Lady Mary and Matthew. Julian has absolutely captured that scope with Titanic."

Dark Shadows trailer divides fans (MTV)

Our columnist defends Tim Burton's comedic re-imagining of the vampire soap.
By John Mitchell

The first trailer for Tim Burton's big-screen adaptation of the late-'60s/ early-'70s vampire soap opera "Dark Shadows" dropped Thursday, and it has sharply divided fans. In one corner are "Shadows" purists, who seem none too pleased with the director's decision to re-imagine the campy but deadly serious soap as a gonzo comedy. In the other corner are more casual fans and Burton enthusiasts, who are seeing shades of "Beetlejuice" and "Edward Scissorhands" and loving it.

Michael Fassbender has a new girlfriend (INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TIMES)

By IBTIMES STAFF REPORTER: Subscribe to IBTimes's RSS feed
March 16, 2012 3:09 PM EDT

On Thursday, the 34-year-old "Shame" actor was spotted taking a romantic stroll through the streets of New York City with his co-star Nicole Beharie, 27.

Fassbender, wearing a long grey coat, was photographed walking with his hand over Beharie's shoulder, as the two shared laughs and braved New York's chilly weather. The new couple is a long way from the characters they played in Steve McQueen's "Shame."

Beharie's portrayal as a coworker of Fassbender's sex-driven workhorse Brandon Sullivan is the only character he doesn't sleep with in the film. (After one dinner date and flirtation at work, the two head to New York's famous Standard Hotel -- but Brandon fails to deliver).

Doc Martin Arrives In Time For Mother's Day

Submitted by Jason Palmer on Thu, 03/15/2012 - 23:15

Make an appointment with Doc Martin this Mother’s Day, as Momentum Pictures releases the fifth series of ITV’s highest-rating comedy-drama on DVD. Sharply scripted and filled with an array of wonderfully crafted characters, Doc Martin continues to go from strength to strength with each and every series.

Martin Clunes reprises the role of the curmudgeonly Dr Martin Ellingham whose truculent and tactless manner upsets the convivial community of the picture postcard village of Portwenn.

Series 5 sees the doc struggling to cope with being a new dad, whilst trying to resume his highflying career as a surgeon which threatens to take him away from the small Cornish village.

Joining Clunes are regular cast members Caroline Catz (Murder in Suburbia, Vice) as Louisa Glasson, Ian McNeice (Rome, Dr Who) and Joe Absolom (Vincent, Eastenders) as Bert and Al Large, and John Marquez returns to his role as the village policeman, with Selina Cadell as pharmacist Mrs Tishell.

Dame Eileen Atkins (Upstairs Downstairs) joins the regular cast as the doctor’s Aunt Ruth, along with Louise Jameson (EastEnders, Dr Who) as Louisa’s mother Eleanor, Jessica Ransom (Armstrong and Miller Show) as the new surgery receptionist, Morwenna Newcross, and a prestigious line up of guest stars including Julie Graham (Survivors), Peter Vaughan (Lark Rise to Candleford), Joanna Scanlan (Getting On, The Thick of It), Robert Daws, Miriam Margolyes, John Duttine and Anne Reid.

Brendan Gleeson, John Wayne and others: 10 GREAT FILMS FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY (PURSUITIST)

St. Patrick’s Day. A day for Guinness, Corn Beef and an Irish movie (at least in my house). Here’s a collection of wonderful Irish films – and not films about Irish people in America – but the Irish in Ireland. The main themes that seem to run through them are drinking, music and the tragedy of an occupied, divided land. The first two themes are the fun ones – the latter the tragic tales. All are well worth a looksee.

The Guard
Brendan Gleason commands the screen in the riotously funny film. He plays seemingly dense Irish policeman who works with CIA agent Don Cheadle to bust a drug smuggling ring.

Quiet Man (1952)
The Duke tames a red-headed l and beats the heck out of Victor McLaglen. This John Ford epic shows an Ireland that exists only in the minds of Americans of Irish descent. And it’s wonderful.

Hobbit pub row: Landlady overwhelmed by support (BBC NEWS)

The Hobbit has been trading for more than two decade

The landlady of a pub threatened with legal action by a Hollywood film company says she is overwhelmed by the support the pub has had.

The Hobbit pub in Southampton had been accused of copyright infringement by lawyers representing the Saul Zaentz Company (SZC) in California.

A Facebook campaign set up by the pub's users has more than 50,000 supporters. Hollywood film SZC company has offered to "amicably resolve" the dispute over its name and decor.

Producer Paul Zaentz said he was open to licensing the pub to use its JRR Tolkien brands.

Landlady Stella Mary Roberts, a huge Tolkien fan, said: "I think they've been scared off, I don't think they [SZC] were expecting the reaction on Facebook.

"Once they realised what they were up against, they had to stop and think 'we need to re-address this'. "We are still waiting to hear back from the solicitors to find out what exactly this licence consists of, we need it in black and white."

Sir Paul McCartney passes the perfect gent test: Former Beatle maintains eye contact in chat with topless sunbather (MAIL ON LINE)

By SIMON NEVILLE

He recently grumbled that he can't go anywhere without being interrupted by a fan wielding a camera. However, one devotee appears not to have been told.

As the sunseeker sprang to his feet at the sight of Sir Paul McCartney, he obviously forgot about his topless female companion who tried in vain to cover her modesty.

Sir Paul, 69, remained the consummate gentleman in the awkward situation – maintaining eye contact throughout lest his wife spot them wandering – as he engaged in polite conversation with the young brunette.
While his wife, 51, opted for a more conservative outfit than the sunbather, wearing a long-sleeved white beach dress with straw trilby.

Movie review: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (NZ Herald)

By Peter Calder

It's easy to forgive the formulaic predictability of a film that is discharged with as much flair as this India-set rom-com loosely based on Deborah Moggach's 2004 novel These Foolish Things.

Completely contrived but utterly delightful, it's the story of seven British pensioners who independently retire to Rajasthan ("It's like the Costa del Sol ... with elephants," explains one) when they find their late-life finances a bit short. Director Madden (Shakespeare in Love) delivers an opening series of crisp vignettes that give the characters' back-stories while offering a pointed commentary on life in modern Britain. But once the sexagenarian band lands in Udaipur, the hotel becomes the stage set for a mild farce rich in poignant moments.

Stars: 4/5
Cast: Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Dev Patel
Director: John Madden
Running time: 124 mins
Rating: PG (coarse language, sexual references)
Verdict: Utterly contrived, completely delightful

Ryan Gosling, Liam Hemsworth and Tom Hardy? Are Foreign Hunks Replacing American Stars? (E ON LINE)

Thu., Mar. 15, 2012 5:23 PM PDT
by Leslie Gornstein

All of the biggest male movie stars used to be from the good ol’ USA. Now American kids are swooning over Liam Hemsworth and Tom Hardy. Where have all the American idols gone?

                                                                                            —Sigh, via the inbox

Oh, knock it off. If you look at the top 10 or so male stars of the moment, you'll see that Taylor Kitsch comes from...oh, wait. He comes from Canada. Well, there’s Ryan Gosling! He's...oh, scratch that. He's Canadian, too. So what is going on here?

I dug deep, and I found the one person you can blame for all this... Take a look at IMDB’s top 20 stars of right this very second. Then narrow it down to just the men. The list includes the aforementioned Kitsch, Hemsworth, Hardy and Gosling, plus Josh Hutcherson, Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Armie Hammer, Channing Tatum, Leonardo DiCaprio and Liam Neeson.

Of those 11 criminally beautiful souls, five come from outside these United States—the U.K. or Canada, to be precise. The other six salute the Stars and Stripes. Why so many foreigners? And why specifically from the U.K. and its historically linked offshoot, Canada?

Colin Firth: Release date of January 11, 2013 for "Gambit" (COLLIDER)

Gambit is technically a remake of the utterly delightful 1966 Michael Caine/Shirley Maclaine movie of the same name, but the plot sounds very different.

In the remake, “Firth will play a London art curator who plots an elaborate scheme to con a wealthy collector (Alan Rickman) into buying a fake Monet painting.

As part of the ruse, he recruits a Texas steer roper (Diaz) to play the part of a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.”

The character roles are similar to those in the original, but the professions, methods, and Macguffin have changed.

Gambit will be the sophisticated choice on the January 11, 2013 weekend when it opens against Scary Movie 5 and the action-flick fairy-tale reimagining Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.

Happy Ides of March Day - HBO'S ROME - the best series ever on HBO (ZAP 2 IT)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu9LMdYQ_tE&feature=player_embedded

March 15 is a day that will forever live in infamy thanks to William Shakespeare and his fictional warning to Julius Caesar: "Beware the Ides of March."

The warning turned out to be apt for the Roman ruler who was, history has it, stabbed 23 times on this day in 44 B.C. by a dissatisfied Roman Senate that included his best friend, Brutus.

Interested parties should make haste to find a copy of HBO's "Rome" -- the short-lived series starring Kevin McKidd, Ray Stevenson and James Purefoy that manages to both entertain and provide eye candy for candy lovers of all stripes.

Gillian Anderson has revealed to TV Guide magazine that she was offered a role on the British import hit "Downton Abbey" - and we were a little surprised at which one it was.

The interview was done regarding Anderson's upcoming PBS miniseries "Great Expectations." Anderson says of the miniseries, "Hopefully people will embrace it with the same love that flowed toward 'Downton Abbey.' I was actually offered a part in 'Downton.'"

And then she confirms the part was none other than Lady Cora, the American female head of Downton, wife to Lord Grantham and mother to ladies Mary, Edith and Sybil. Interesting!

James McAvoy: Wishaw teen Jake Wilson acts with James McAvoy in new Irvine Welsh film Filth (WISHAW PRESS)

Mar 14 2012 by Robert Mitchell, Wishaw Press

WISHAW teenager Jake Wilson is coming to a big screen near you after landing a movie part opposite James McAvoy. The 13-year-old Coltness High School pupil auditioned for a part in an adaptation of the Irvine Welsh book Filth and beat hundreds of hopeful young actors to get the part.

Woody Allen stand up routine from the '60's is the plot for Midnight in Paris

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=z85zt_EUySg

I know this has nothing to do with British Artists, but I was looking up something about Clive Owens new movie, "Hemingway and Gellhorn" and came across this.  It is an old stand up routine of Woody Allen's and it's the entire Midnight in Paris movie (almost)  I love Woody Allen standup better than his movies.  Enjoy.

Charlie Watts Upset At Missing Diamond Jubilee Gig (CONTACT MUSIC)

Rocker Charlie Watts is disappointed the Rolling Stones weren't invited to perform at Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee concert, insisting he would have been honoured to join the line-up.

The drummer admits he would have loved for the Brown Sugar hitmakers to be included in the special gig being held in the summer (12) to mark the monarch's 60-year reign. Beatles legend Sir Paul MCCartney, Sir Elton John and Sir Cliff Richard are among the headlining acts, but Watts reveals he and his bandmates are too busy to play the show.

Benedict Cumberbatch: Sherlock: TV Worth Reading (HUFFINGTON POST)

Stephanie Earp

BBC's "Sherlock," the latest take on Arthur Conan Doyle's detective (who has been portrayed onscreen more than 70 different ways), does this beautifully.

I've just discovered the show, but most of my TV watching friends haven't heard of it. If you, like them, haven't caught on to this series yet, go do it. You might be able to get it on demand, and the first season is on Netflix. The structure of the show is a bit odd, at first. Instead of a handful of hour-long episodes, each series consists of three 90-minute mini-movies based on Arthur Conan Doyle's stories.

I've watched five so far, and I'm in that delicious period where I'm dying to watch the last one, but also want to save it. Knowing I've got more than a piddly 44 minutes coming my way makes it bearable. Set in modern-day London, the newest Sherlock has access to forensic labs, nicotine patches, and smartphones, but he is, in every way that counts, utterly faithful to the literary original.

Forget Robert Downey Jr. -- this one is played by Benedict Cumberbatch, a Brit (obviously with that handle) who bears a passing resemblance to the young Dennis Quaid, and clearly has no qualms about chewing the scenery.

His Dr. Watson is played by Martin Freeman (from the original "Office" and the underrated "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy") as I imagine Bill Bryson might. In other words, he is happily amazed by most things, occasionally cranky, and always soothed by a nice cup of tea. The thing I'm most enjoying about indulging in the show is how light-hearted it is.

All the really good TV right now is so dark. I'm as excited as the next guy about the return of "Game of Thrones" this April, but it's nice to watch something that doesn't involve people being crippled, beheaded and thrown into dungeons.

"Sherlock" is delightfully fun. It's obvious, in the execution and from the fan reaction, that this show is being made by people who adored the source material. (One of the creators also plays Sherlock's brother Mycroft, a character whose fictional other life I've been following avidly in the "Thursday Next" novels by Jasper Fforde. Check those out too, while you're at it.)

Michael Fassbender, LIam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan: Like an Irish whiskey Irish men get better with age (INDEPENDENT IE.)

US showbiz website zap2it has compiled a list of the nation’s best looking men, and features many familiar faces such as Colin Farrell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Michael Fassbender.

The list is not dominated by younger stars however, with Pierce Brosnan (58), Gabriel Byrne (61) and Liam Neeson (59) all making the cut to be ranked as some of our best looking stars.

U2 front man Bono, more used to appearing on top musical earners lists, is also ranked as one of our sexiest men, the ever present sunglasses possibly adding to his allure.

(my favorite - Brendan Gleeson)

McGovern, 50, will be singing with rock band Big Country, whose hits include In a Big Country and Fields of Fire. She said: "I am thrilled to be playing with such a stellar cast of musicians." McGovern has her own band called Sadie and the Hotheads, who are also to perform at the festival.

Keira Knightley gets edgy for her... (VOGUE)

The Oscar-nominated Keira Knightley is breaking away from her usual demure, corset-wearing acting roles to portray a woman on the psychological brink.

There’s nothing straightforward about a designated meeting place in Venice. Italy’s bejewelled city, full of labyrinthine, intricate alleyways and dead ends, provides a perfect setting to interview Keira Knightley, who inhabits the dark and complex mind of patient-turned-analyst Sabina Spielrein in A Dangerous Method. This drama, set at the turn of the 20th century, is about the turbulent relationship between the great minds of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. Known for her period movies, Knightley does the heavy lifting in her portrayal of this little-known Russian woman, responsible for injecting emotional intensity and sexual heat (albeit the disturbing kind) into this otherwise cerebral subject.

During my search for the appointed hotel where the interview will take place, as if in the midst of a Freudian dream, Knightley’s famous visage (promoting Chanel’s latest scent, Coco Mademoiselle) looks out from billboards along the way. Her expression is one of vague amusement. Finally, pushing through the glass doors of the Hotel Danieli, I am enormously relieved to see the Oscar-nominated actress calmly sitting at a table sipping espresso in the corner of the bustling lobby.

At first glimpse, Knightley looks as though she’s stepped out from one of the 17th-century paintings that hang on the surrounding walls. Her hair is dyed a darker hue than usual and, despite her modern blunt bob, which enhances her alarming beauty and dramatic bone structure, her face is simpatico with this gothic-inspired former palace. It’s this old-world quality that has aided her in securing leading roles that necessitate the ability to cross oceans of time

The Raven: John Cusack talks about his role (HUFFINGTON POST VIDEO)

John Cusack says his turn in "The Raven" is the role of a lifetime, which is high praise considering the 45-year-old has acted in over 50 films and is attached to no fewer than seven projects in 2012 alone.

In the film, which opens today in the UK and April 23 in the States, Cusack stars as the 19th-century American poet Edgar Allan Poe. In this fictionalized version of events, Poe must scramble to stop a serial killer from taking innocent lives in the style of Poe's often macabre work.

Cusack, who won eternal fan favor with his roles in the '80s classics "Sixteen Candles" and "Say Anything" (he says he's still eager to do a sequel of the latter), told Sky News that actors dream of playing a character as complex as the infamously neurotic poet.

"There couldn't be a richer, more iconic character to play," he said. "So if I can find things like this I'm as happy as I can be."

Michael Fassbender Finds The Mountain Between Us (CRAVE ON LINE)

Michael Fassbender is in talks to headline Gerardo Naranjo's (Miss Bala) next film, The Mountain Between Us, Variety reports.

Based on the 2010 novel by Charles Martin, the book is officially described as follows:

On a stormy winter night, two strangers wait for a flight at the Salt Lake City airport. Ashley Knox is an attractive, successful writer, who is flying East for her much anticipated wedding. Dr. Ben Payne has just wrapped up a medical conference and is also eager to return home to Jacksonville, FL for a slate of surgeries he has scheduled for the following day.

When the last outgoing flight is cancelled due to a broken de-icer and a forthcoming storm, Ben finds a charter plane that can take him around the storm and drop him in Denver to catch a connection. And when the pilot says the single engine prop plane can fit one more, if barely, Ben offers the seat to Ashley knowing that she needs to get back just as urgently.

And then the unthinkable happens. The pilot has a heart attack mid-flight and the plane crashes into the High Uintas Wilderness-- one of the largest stretches of harsh and remote land in the United States.

Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern: White House State Dinner: John Legend, Mumford And Sons Invited To Perform For President Obama (HUFF POST ENTERTAINMENT)

WASHINGTON — Wednesday's giant state dinner for British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife_ the biggest ever thrown by Barack and Michelle Obama – dished up a potent mix of celebrity glam, corporate heft and political money under a giant party tent on the South Lawn.

It is an election year, after all.

The entertainment lineup also included a little something special for both couples: The Obamas are big admirers of Grammy-winner John Legend, and David and Samantha Cameron are huge fans of Mumford & Sons, a British folk rock band also performing.

Obama, for his part, also is a big fan of "Homeland" actor Damian Lewis, who said on his way into the huge party tent that he planned to ask the president how he ever finds time to watch TV. Among the 360 people who scored golden tickets to the dinner were actor George Clooney, billionaire Warren Buffett, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, businessman Richard Branson, Apple's Jony Ive and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, a big fundraiser for Obama's re-election campaign.

Others who made the list: Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern, both of "Downton Abbey" fame, and Rory McIlroy, the new world No. 1 golfer. In advance of the big night, the 22-year-old from Northern Ireland was so excited he tweeted a photo of himself being fitted for his dinner suit.

Gerard Butler: Fresh Out Of Rehab, Gerard Butler Checks In At Half Moon Bay Brewing Company (SF FIRST)

According to the restaurant's Facebook presence, Butler — who is sporting a very surf-bleached new coif, we might add — came in last night with part of his film crew and Mavericks regular Grant Washburn. (Surf contest regular, that is. Although we suppose he could be a regular at the Brewing Company's bar as well.) According to the folks over at Eater, Butler has a thing for the seafood sampler, fresh oysters and hanging out by the fireplace at the bar until 11:30 p.m. So, ladies, now you know where to find him.
